We are deep and can come after teams in many different ways offensively and defensively. The key will be Woodson. Does he not screw around with the rotations as much this year. Does he start the right guys or was JR promised the starting job? JR can singlehandedly disrupt anything good this current team accomplishes. I said at the time that resigning the bonehead was a bad decision no matter how little he signed for. I figured he would stunt Shumperts development. Now it looks like he might get in THJ's way as well.
Bargnani looked great and motivated with a variety of moves. I can't remember the last time we had a big that can get to the basket without turning the ball over. He and Melo looked great together. The worst aspect of this team was the perimeter chuckfest we would get from jr, Melo and Felton when defenses would clog the lane. Now we might actually get some easy baskets.
Melo needs to cut out the heat check bombs and take it to the hole more and he wil be more efficient.
Hopefully Steve Mills doesn't feel the need to put his handprints on this roster by trading Shumpert. Hopefully he was not ordered to do it by Dolan. Shumpert is coming along just as I expected. He is our best and only 2wY player and his ceiling is high
what will he trade shump for??

I think I read on this board that they're definitely trading Shump - so that's factorial
What is this thread???
Everyone knows the Nets will be better...

They are better equipped to win the whole thing. Even more so than Indiana and Chicago who can't beat Miami because Lebron shuts down Rose. You stop Rose you stop the Bulls. On the other hand Lebron can't stop KG and Lopez. Nyets are not only deep but they have superior talent and experience
If the Knicks can give us quality basketball for 2yrs It will at least kept me interested as I watch the games.
Last year for a majority of the season we were subjected to inefficient perimeter chuckfest. Bad defense and boxing out, lack of composure etc. it's tough to watch. Just give me good smart basketball. I know it's one preseason game but I like what I saw
you mean after actually WATCHING the team play you're changing your tune? who woulda thought
Not getting my hopes up for championship yet but I like what I see. If they don't go far I wont be as disappointed as I was last year. So if they can just play good smart basketball I'm good
we're definitely a better team than we were last year. we have a group of defenders in artest, shump, chandler, kmart that can really buckle a team down and the key with that defensive unit is that its a big defensive unit too - going to be hard to score on a unit like that. throw melo in there for some scoring punch and i like that 'lineup d'jour' as earl so eloquently puts it. i like what i see from bargs too. i think him and melo can defenitely play off each other well and i like the chemistry that they showed with one another yesterday, even it is only the first preseason game.
hardaway jr played a nice game yesterday, his 3pt shot looks great for a kid coming out of college and i like his overall style of play, he's going to fit right in with this punch, he might be a real sleeper for us.
all this and i didnt even mention that the biggest thing we do offensively is that WE don't turn the ball over. felton had 0 to's, prigs had 1 and udrih had 2. that's amazing really. we were great at that last year and it looks like we're going to be great again this year with it. get melo/bargs as many scoring opportunities as they can handle.

Good write-up. Very encouraged by what I saw last night as well.

I have to agree here, I think the Nets are a problem, they will not depend on one guy to carry them.. and if deron and JJ can come in healthy, they may get off to a fast start... They are equipped to be an ECF team for sure..

we don't know if we are better or not... especially after one preseason game vs a boston team with a bunch of new players and without rondo.. come on... we eeked out this win vs that team.. if you are going to use this game to judge the knicks, then you should be worried... I still see the same things.. chucking melo.. bargnani chucking... and not defending.. no rebounding.. the same old issues..
what I did like and always have is Shumpert... the problem is PG... which is why I liked Lin with shumpert, it gave the knicks back court explosiveness and a dynamic we haven't had back there in years..
THJ may be a nice role player down the line as well.. that is good news, but not nearly enough... It is a shame that this franchise doesn't have the brains or patience to do things the right way, because when we do, we can see some good, lasting results... I just fear we are going to eff up the shumpert situation and he will be playing elsewhere.. at which point it will push me further away from this toxic mess in NY...
The apple doesn't fall too far from the tree with Tim Hardaway Junior. The kid is fearless like his father

They will look better just based on the fact that there is more taelnt on this team than last year. Whether it equates to more wins is an unknown, but I doubt they will be chucking as many 3s now and I am happy about that. Curious to see who becomes the leader though and how it will impact accountability after the garbage performances.
Disagree about the problem being the PG, the problem to me is the same as last year - lack of rebounding. Watching teams snag O-board after O-board to keep possessions alive is gonna be aggravating against the big teams and I just hope it doesn't expedite a trade of Shump for help down low. I agree if he gets traded it will make me very disgusted w/ this franchise.

Yes. but like original sin...I am not there in rooting for him just yet. The memories of his old man and his antics still burns.
Yea I had a dead rooted hatred for everyone on those heat teams
Guns, friday night game in piscataway?

when I say Pg is a problem, I mean it is not a position that has contender worthy play... remember this is a veteran team. we are not a young team, the goal is championship and we are lacking.... I just see too many holes and Pg being one of them..

I usually agree with you but I think Beno is the key. Beno should be more than adequate to run this team.
