I usually love NBA 2k, but I can not get into this new control scheme. The controls were perfect last year. It seems like they changed the contols just to add "flashy passes". Why they would ruin the controls for something that you don't even need is not apparent to me.

Now you can only shoot with the pro stick, so you dribble and shoot with the same stick. Like to do a spin shot you make a circle with right stick and hold it in place until you're ready to release the shot. It takes getting used to. They also got rid of automatic hop steps, you actually have to
have a clear path to hop step now and it's not something you can directly control. The only time you can shoot with x is for catch and shoots and dunks really.

sounds like an improvement, do you think it will be better once you get used to it?

I kind of like it, the lay-up animations are incredible, very realistic. It's just harder to string together dribble moves and to create space for a shot now. They changed the moves so for instance you can no longer cross the ball behind your back while sprinting and you can only in n' out when jogging as well. I'd say the biggest improvement is definitely the animations, they look like real moves. The jab stepping actually confuses AI defenders in this one so I'm sure Melo likes that feature
. Obviously Lebron is just unfair, makes nearly every lay-up he attempts. However, you can block dunks in this one, not that the game will ever let you block Mr. 99 overall King James.

sounds ridiculous,
can't wiat,
are you xbox or ps
to be honest i'd rather only use the stick to shoot,
This game is definately frustrating now but I got a good feel for it last night. I played or Knicks against the 72' championship team against Jordans last championship squad. Came from a 15 pt deficit against the old Knicks. And I smacked the old bulls. So the controls take some getting used to. You can still use box to shoot. I haven't really gotten slick with shooting with the stick. It's awkward to me. Probably easier once you get used to it.
I'm not too hype about the next Gen systems. The ps3 is still a great system. I don't feel sick of the graphics and controls. The next Gen stuff doesn't really blow me away like the 360 and ps3 dud when they came out. I guess I'll wait a few years
I like the old controls because you had absolute control over when you wanted to dribble and shoot. You just had to click the modifier to switch between the two. Now, if you hold the right stick a half a second to long then you will shoot instead of dribble. The gave you the "option" to change to the old controls in the options but the game is setup now to use the new ones so the old controls sucks for 2k14. The worst case of this is when you switch to the old controls you can no longer throw ally oops. It is literally impossible to throw an ally with the old controls now. How does this even make it past Quality Control?
Do you have the option to choose the old control options or are you forced to use the new ones. I haven't bought it yet, GTA V still has its claws in me
