if the spurs released him (a solid franchise), why would we pick up their crumbs?

I really liked Corey Maggette. Still do, he's just a little long in the tooth right now. I'd rather see us take CDR as one of the final 15.

Maggette would get eaten alive in NY. He's a very poor man's melo. A lot of Iso ball and tough mid range jumpers. He's a good slasher but he wouldn't fit on this team at all. A lazy defender who cant stretch the floor and needs the ball in his hands: pass.

I like Magette a lot. Not sure if he has anything left.

Looks like a moot point anyway. Possibly some kind of health issue and may retire.

If they wanted this type of player they should've went after DeQuan Jones. Strong, physical, ultra-athletic young wing with a bright future ahead of him....Jones was out there for a little before Sacramento scooped him up. I think this guy's ceiling is Corey Maggette. Didn't expect to add CDR late the way we did though...I'd be fine with adding him and calling it a day.
