Many of these calls changed or killed momentum for the knicks during a hotly contested game where the knicks had come back and put fear in the pacers in the 4th qtr. Remember this is PLAYOFF BASKETBALLTicky tack fouls aren't called.

When you watch the game as a fan, you are too hyped to see all this taking place in critical moments.

Terrible calls and non calls by the Refs. This is the kind of thing that happens in a series. I think the Refs were just in Home Team Mode. When the momentum of a stadium is high and the home team is playing aggressive sometimes it slants the view of the refs. It's a psychological phenomenon. I don't think it's rigged. It's just the way the NBA works in these kinds of playoff situations. The Knicks needed to have a GREAT offensive game in order to overcome the home court advantage in terms of the Refs. They almost did, but not being able to shoot the ball the way they had in the regular season killed their chances. Hitting open jump shots is the great equalizer and the Knicks just didn't perform at the level they should have.

If the afficiating will be same at home and on the road how this games will be different. This is a part of the setup to make it hard on visiting team. So Knicks had to use home advantage tehy had and win at home but they lost. End of story.

Somewhere Mike Donaghy is giggling while recovering from his prison injuries for ratting on the league, saying "we still have fans that think refs don't rig and momentum shift games".

the first sequence: shumpert's foul was an offensive foul-- he warded off too much when he went up. could not tell what the foul was on the other end going round the pick-- maybe he grabbed the arm of george. looked like it could have been a frustration foul since he complained as he was coming up the court.

You can get a job at the NBA league office in NY.

the second sequence: hard to tell where the foul was on martin there
dk7th@ 10/18/2013 5:09 PM
third sequence: copeland is trying to set clownish picks, the second one was awful... but prigioni has to be a bit more calculating even as he is being harassed. it was a moving screen on copeland.
dk7th@ 10/18/2013 5:10 PM
fourth sequence: hibbert definitely walked.
dk7th@ 10/18/2013 5:13 PM
fifth sequence: i did not see anything wrong one way or the other. hibbert fouled smith a little bit but smith flopped and/or was off balance anyway.
dk7th@ 10/18/2013 5:20 PM
sixth sequence: terrible call against chandler. that was not a foul.
dk7th@ 10/18/2013 5:22 PM
seventh sequence: melo led with his shoulder as usual and the guy did flop a little to emphasize the contact-- it was a good call.
dk7th@ 10/18/2013 5:27 PM
eigth sequence: smith on the swipe down hooked the right arm of stephenson and got too much of his body against stephenson's. that is a foul.
playa2@ 10/18/2013 5:27 PM
That's why I call them momentum shift calls by the refs, it frustrates the players more than we think.
Sacramento, a few yrs back against the Fakers in the playoffs was probably the worst ever.
dk7th@ 10/18/2013 5:34 PM
ninth sequence: chandler clocked him in the head because his arms were not straight up-- his left arm was out. he left his feet too soon-- he needed one more little step to his left. that is a foul.
playa2@ 10/18/2013 5:52 PM
In the real NBA those are play on calls. They've desensitized too many fans today from what playoff basketball was really like.
This is one of the reason why MJ said the game is 90% mental, it's hard to keep your cool in the heat of the battle against a great opponent when you get calls against you like these.

I thought it was rigged because Woody was paid not to keep Copeland in.

I thought Tyson was throwing some games, this was one of them.
