Yet melo's always one of the leaders in free throw attempts.
The refs miss alot of calls, not just the melo ones.
He gets to the free throw line a lot because of his style of play and they do miss a lot of calls, but it stands out that a player of his stature gets a lot of missed calls.
For the most extreme example of this, watch that Thunder game from last year where the refs refused to call ANY foul for Melo, while calling everything for Durant. In the end they reluctantly called a foul because the Thunder were purposely trying to stop the clock, but even then they had to foul him 3 times...
Great example, I had almost forgotten about that game. Watching it made me sick to my stomach it was so ridiculous.

This is the reason Melo doesn't get as many calls as other top stars , he doesn't flop like these other guys
