Say it isnt so Woody???? Why does being JR's brother enhance Chris's value to the Knicks? We need all of the good players we can get--the team is going to lose 3 draft picks like Minnesota did.
apparently because he's jr's brother... seriously, woodson said that.
from isola (take it for what it's worth)

This would be a sad, sad thing. Chris Smith brings nothing to this team. And after watching the effort that Murry gives, to let him go to another team would really grease the skids for a Woodson removal, extension be damned

I watched every summer league game the guy shouldnt even be invited to camp, he is nowhere near being good enough for the NBA
Ugh, you have got to be kidding me! We really need to order another tent for this circus
Mike Woodson is simply acknowledging that he is aware of the politics of CAA and the power it wields.
With that said, if Chris Smith is not among the cuts, the idea of equal opportunity is out the window because Toure Murry has clearly been the superior player in pre season.
Wish Cole Aldrich had better footwork.
If Chris Smith makes it over Tourre Murry, I'm going to leave a flaming bag of turd on CAA's doorstep!
I wish my brother played for the Knicks, I would have had a very good chance at making the team, even if my job is to bring donuts to the team meetings.
Our organization is really pathetic. Chris Smith brings nothing to the table. hell he wouldnt bring much to the D-League. We dont owe JR anything. Sure he won the 6th man of the year but he did nothing in the playoffs( at least nothing positive). Murry should make the team he earned it

The goal is to make the playoffs and he did it. You must remember the NYK championship is making the playoffs.

Unfortnetly you are right. Just making the playoffs and winning 50 games is enough for our management
.......Chris smith...
.....He ain't heavy, he's my brother........
Since the year we signed Amare our roster has been ravaged by injures at least one time each season. With this knowledge, if the Knicks waste a roster spot on Chris Freaking Smith I think I will lose interest in the Knicks. It will just prove they care nothing about winning. It would show they just care to be good enough so they can raise ticket prices. If my favorite team does not care about winning why should I care about them? Am I saying Murry over Smith is the difference between making it to the finals and a 1st round exit? No, but its the mind set that the team has that bothers me. Do you think the Spurs would ever think of doing something like this?

Jr said point blank, I come cheap if you signed my brother and I want it in writing..2 months later our GM gets replace/fired

+1
Every roster spot should be valuable from 1 all the way to 15. Every player has to play a role on the team, and perform once called on. Smith can neither facilitate, shoot, nor defend well. He's not an old vet that can dispense knowledge and wisdom to the younger players. He's JR Smith's younger punk brother!
There should be no "favors" or nepotism going on here. Then again it is CAA and Dolan, so Woody's hand maybe forced...

He is just being honest and he is just being nice --- I don't see any chance he stays BUT as Knick fans you just never know - do you?
Frank isola had been going of the deep end last few years. His Twitter feed is him ranting about Berman and how retarded the Knicks are. He goes off Alot. Doesn't sound like a beat writer anymore. He might have lost it.

yeah, thats how i took it as well.
Funny though, several teams recently have brought in the scrub version of their brother on rosters.
The pacers did with ben hansbrough, gs is giving seth curry curry a chance, the bulls had boozer's brother on their sl team.
Not even using brothers, but think about this....eddy curry has a championship ring, and miami always has a beat down scrub at the end of their bench, and no...juwan howard is not imparting "knowledge".
the Knicks though cant truly afford to take that chance..they arent good enough to not have to call on their 15th guy to play.
This is almost as unbelievable as Grunwald being let go to bring Mills back. It makes no sense. At some point it seems Woodson will get tired of compromising his character to continue to work in a situation like this. There are some pretty strong signs that the owners nba seasonal affective disorder is returning.
Not going to happen. Chris Smith will go to the D-League. Woody and mgmt are just being nice, showing JR that they ahave been really considering and watching Chris. But he clearly hasn't played well enough to take the 15th spot.
I think we keep
1. Toure
2. Jeremy Tyler
3. Diogu
And if not Diogu, then some other vet Big who is cut from another team or who we can bring out of retirement like we did with Rasheed last yr. But not Chris Smith.
