Knicks · Cluster Fck rotation (page 1)

BRIGGS @ 10/26/2013 10:47 AM
This is also a problem--we simply cant play 11-12 guys--its not the way you win in the NBA. You could see the cluster fck in the rotations yesterday.

How can we change this. Here is my take. First off Bargs needs to be moved to unit 2 and either we go with Metta W P at SF or we move in JR Smith to G and move Shumpert to SF and Anthony to PF either way Id agree with. Hardaway JR is OUT once JR gets back--he is out of the 10 man rotation.

Ill go back to what I said about Amare and Kenyon--alternate games to keep them fresh and to keep our line ups at 10man. NO way either goes more than 65 games--keep them each at 41.

Move Beno move to 2nd unit SG and Pablo is back up PG. Beno makes too many TO's but he is a valuable piece if put in the right position and i think thats back up SG and play with Pablo.

Bargs to 7th man and back up C. The bottom line he has not earned a starting spot and his chemistry with the other guys in the 1st unit has been poor. Melo has been bad--so Im suggesting moving Bargs to help create space for BOTH. In the second unit I expect Bargs to play closer to the basket atleast 50% of the time He is shooting WAY to fast he gets the ball and tries to shoot without even eying the rim--he needs to slow that process down and get his fundamental shot back. A few easy baskets around the rim always seems to help players.

Lineup

C-Chandler
F Artest
F Anthony
G Shumpert
G Felton

C Bargs
F Amare/Martin
F JR Smith(Hardaway while hes out)
G Beno
G Pablo

10 man tight.

Also this will help Chandler in unit one get space for his lobs. We need a few of those per game. 4-1 will help him score points

And maybe most importantly this puts Melo back at starting PF where he averaged almost 30-8 last year. We are messing with that with Bargs in unit 1.

I agree but I think Woodson is very fond of the Melo/Bargs line up.
Vmart @ 10/26/2013 10:51 AM
What no Amare?

Why--its not worked. This is where Woody gets paid--if he cant be smart about it--if he cant look and easily see the problem--than someone else should.

Bonn1997 @ 10/26/2013 10:52 AM
Chandler would get more space for those lobs with Bargs at the 4. And I'd rather have Chandler in to cover up for Bargs' low rebounding.

I have Amare in the 2nd unit at PF every other game alternating games with Kenyon,.

gunsnewing @ 10/26/2013 10:53 AM
Melo Artest up front won't work either. Especially with Melo shooting under 40%

I have Amare lined up to be a fashion model wearing designer suits to every game.

No he would not. If we play 4 big one small--we have more space for Chandler and more driving lanes for the other guys. Bargs and Chandler are a terrible combo.

This is for Melo too. he did not look decisive in the first period and forced it in the 2nd. He is best at PF and so is or team hands down.

Well Artest may be more of a threat on the perimeter than Bargs anyway. So you have a point. Bargs needs to play with a top rebounder to cover up for him though.

It's terrible until Bargnani has a 20pt game and everyone goes goo goo for gaga over it

You can use a more generalized formula: player X and Bargs are a terrible combo,
where player x = all human beings on the planet

You ll play double big in unit two--together they can rebound or play zone. Im not worried about unit two they have plenty of talent--the guys who play the majority of the game--unit 1 we need the best possible unit out there for this teamns make up--thats Anthony at PF bargs to unit 2 metta to unit 1.

I hope he does--off the bench.

i agree BRIGGS. i dont think beno or hardaway will get mins once JR comes back. i can see a good 9 man rotation
gunsnewing @ 10/26/2013 11:03 AM
Artest is trigger happy and like Melo over dribbles instead of getting the ball to the PG. Once he goes cold from 3 we will want to strangle him. Same way kidd went from hot to cold and Kidd is historically better 3pt shooter than Artest and that is not saying much.

Hey if we want to go back to dumping the ball to Melo and moving out the way we might win 50games again beating up on the lower echelon teams. But we learned from last year that you can't sacrifice playoff indentity for regular season wins

gunsnewing @ 10/26/2013 11:09 AM
The only way this team advances past the 2nd round is if Bargnani and Melo flourish in a 2 man game especially in the playoffs. Otherwise teams will just focus on Stoping Melo again and we won't stand a chance. I expect great improvement from Shumpert but him or Artest cant be the 2nd best offensive player on the floor with Melo. 3rd best yes

I'm definitely not convinced of Metta being a meaningful player for us. From the time we got him, I thought that most of his utility came from being more of a sideshow than an actual basketball player. He's an adequate stopgap but we'll need a trade or signing to upgrade that position in the near future.

That seems like a big if, considering the way he is playing. I was never high on the acquisition (because I didn't think he was worth draft picks) and have grown more skeptical now. I think he'll begin to round-out as the season progresses but think that its a pipe dream to presume he's still a starter or could be the 2nd best scorer for this team.

GustavBahler @ 10/26/2013 11:59 AM
I don't believe that Woodson will be throwing players out there like he did last night. I think it was more about getting everyone a chance to play. I believe the majority of the minutes will go to 8-9 players. I don't mind Woodson playing most of the roster to keep some of the older vets from wearing out. Once the roles on this squad are more clearly defined I believe that this won't be an issue anymore.
