We made fun of the LA Clippers and said their owner was a cheap skate who let talent walk after their rookie contracts. Now he's made the team attractive to good free agents who want to play in LA.
James Dolan under Pat Riley allowed the team to be put together the right way in the 90's .
Lately he's just been looking for one headliner still in their prime with a band of has been stars or perennial backups and put them in position to start. After Jeff Vandummy he has chosen band aid coaches or yes men. Then he hired a head strong gimmick coach in Mike Danphoney to bring entertainment to the garden in between pursuing another headliner big name player who has never won anything.
If you ask around the league who wants to come to NY to win a championship (without getting an enormous amount of money to sign)they would say EMPHATICALLY NO ! They come for the money because he overpays players who don't deserve the money he's willing to pay them.
So we the fans suffer the most, we go for entertainment purposes & not any true expectations to win a CAHMPIONSHIP, because in the back of our minds we know something is still WRONG !

James Dolan did not become the face of the Knicks until 1999, right around the time the Knicks became shit doing the same things you described later in your post. I disagree with your premise that we can only attract lesser players. Back in 2010, the Knicks gave a presentation about how LeBron could become a billionaire by playing in New York for 7 years. Chicago was about 3/4 of that figure during that same span and Miami was a little more than half. Those facts should interest any caliber player, not just B and C standard athletes.

Huh ? Money isn't everything for everybody.
Playing for Dolan and him not having a true desire to win a Championship can turn many a player off, regardless of what the money is, unless the player is on the downside of his career then he will sign on and rip off Dolan for his money. See HOUSTON MARBURY,AMARE , CHANDLER,KIDD ETC....

Some of those guys didnt do that though.
Chandler took less to come here, the Warriors offered more, and we didnt sign Marbury to anything, his contract was already in tow.
Kidd's deal certainly didnt hurt the team, probably dont run out the gate hot without his play.

Uh, what's your point. Lebron turned us down...
playa2@ 10/28/2013 8:35 AM
Some don't understand, some of the stars today want to win a championship, some want to work for a decent owner. Just because Dolan can make it rain , that alone doesn't attract younger players still in their prime unless they have issues on or off the court.
ChuckBuck@ 10/28/2013 9:16 AM
Pat Riley never worked under James Dolan. He left before that.

Yeah, I thought he wasn't the owner until 1999 too.

You know what happens when you spell "Dolan" backwards dont' you?
Don't let them distract you from the truth!!!!
THis is just another thread so Playa can use his catchphrase for MDA and JVG! "DanPHony and VanDUmmY"!!!!!
My sneaking spidy sense tells me that the Mods told him if he does not step up his basketball talk and just uses the UK as his conspiracy depository then he might get made gone again.
Wait, did I say "Depository"? Wasn't there a "Dallas Book Despository" were "LHO" (Lee harvey oswald) was made a patsy?
So why is it that? Both presidents were shot in the head. Both presidents were shot on a Friday in the presence of their wives. Both presidents were accompanied by another couple. The male companion of the other couple was wounded by the assassin. Both presidents had a son die during their presidency. Lincoln was shot by John Wilkes Booth at Ford's Theatre; Kennedy was shot by Lee Harvey Oswald in a Lincoln automobile, made by Ford. Lincoln had a secretary named Kennedy who told him not to go to the theatre; Kennedy had a secretary named Evelyn Lincoln who warned him not to go to Dallas. Both presidents' last names have 7 letters. Both presidents have five syllables in their full name (which counts Kennedy's middle initial). There are 6 letters in each Johnson's first name. Booth ran from a theatre to a warehouse; Oswald ran from a warehouse to a theatre. Both Johnsons were succeeded as President in '69 by Republicans whose mothers were named Hannah.
So what does this have to do with "Dolan"? EVERYTHING!!!!! Im not saying though. Thats because my silence is telling!

Sorry, but you fail, miserably. You left out the youtube link. Tsk tsk. And you, an Off-Topic Forum conspiracy subject matter expert!
But wait! The very omission of a youtube link is telling! And Nalod backwards is... in this thread, no less! And what if you say "Be Careful, Don't Get Hurt" backwards 50 times??? Can we even be sure why Ray Williams, Marvin Webster and Tractor Traylor are all deceased within a specific period of time? Mysterious, isn't it? All ex-Knicks, and Tractor Traylor with a connection to injuring a possible representative of the Illuminati, which is Italian, isn't it??? Why so many Smith's on the team at once? Is that actually their real last name?
C'mon, don't be a gullible part of the herd! Stay alert!

Oh my bad, maybe that's why Riley checked out early, he couldn't get more power form MSG and Dolan (THE SON) was seen on the horizon ready to make a splash.
Knixkik@ 10/28/2013 12:59 PM
There are only 2 things i can think of in the past 10 years that every Knicks fan agrees on. James Dolan is a bad owner and Chris Smith should not be an NBA player.

I agree with eveverything except Dantoni. I think walsh felt that Dantoni had a system that could work and get wins. Not sure they were on the same page all of the time tho..

chandler took SIMILAR money to come here. when we talk less money to go somewhere, I think we should look at significant differences. .In other words, chandler didn't come here for 4 mil a year less, just to play in NY, the money was very close and he was leaning towards NY... had GS come back with 17 mil a year.. he would be in GS..... http://probasketballtalk.nbcsports.com/2...
the knicks offered him 58 mil over the same 4 years.... Similar money.. yet overpaid, way overpaid either way..

Dolan is a little man guitar player. He likes the hoops but has no idea how the thing works. He has a lot money to waste and he wasted it on sport teams. Not sure why any decent player, executive, coach, any man will be close to him except of sucking some money out. Who wants to be around some stuff which stinks?
