Knicks · OT: Jeremy Lin (page 3)

MS @ 11/5/2013 12:14 PM
The interesting aspect of his ball domination was Chandler becoming more involved scoring the ball, novak hitting open threes, fields getting easy transition buckets, Jefferies getting layups he couldn't miss and shumpert getting dunks.

If guys run and their was motion everyone was going to get the ball. Uptempo ball was fun and got everyone invovled.

If Melo bought in he would still have gotten about 15-18 shots a game. But, Melo want 20 shots, which is the problem.

We still don't have a guy that attacks and gets folks easy shots. Would have been nice to see Lin and Felton man the point together and hold onto our picks. Because Shump and Hardaway were late selections and look to be nice pieces for this team.

I thought a lin/shumpert backcourt was a good fit... both pretty big guards, athletic, attacked the rim... heck you could even throw in THJ in that mix... lin in that dantoni offense got novak a lot of shots, I could see the same thing with THJ..

Just another bad move in a series of bad moves by this franchise.. It has taken its toll on me as a fan for sure..

its even tougher for Knick fans

Good points. Lin is just a great PG on a team that likes to share the ball. I think Melo could have excelled. I like the guy but he is still a selfish player. Understand, I'm not saying that like a criticism. It is an observation. When he plays to make the team better, then he will go to the next level. But he is missing that part. Lin had that, he embodied that. Not as good as Melo, but an all round BBall player.

doug collins made an observation opening night that the paradigm for success is to have three players who are all playmakers. the problem with stoudemire and anthony and bargnani is that none of them are playmakers and so having a guy who is good at getting others involved like lin does is a waste. we saw that first hand when he was here and next thing you know he and his "ridiculous contract" were out of here.

Didn't the team immediately improve once Woodson took over? When our starting lineup had Melo, Lin, and Amare in it? We went like 18-6 or something and blew out a lot of teams. So I don't think we saw that first hand unless you're referring to when D'antoni was coaching.
gunsnewing @ 11/5/2013 4:51 PM
Yea it's been a big misconception. Lin Melo and Amare were winning until Lin and Amare went down. Then we were embarrassed in the first round vs Miami

if you want to be a playoff team you need to have the players who handle the ball the most be playmakers for others, otherwise it is too easy for opponents to key in on one guy come playoff time. the knicks continue to have that problem and it may well be that the bulls do as well. collins says you need three guys, essentially "wings," who can do that. we don't even have one now. you can get away with stuff in the regular season but it won't carry over to the real season.

arkrud @ 11/5/2013 4:55 PM
Do you really think that Lin will not be a good addition to play with Lebron, Kobe, Durant?
Do you really think he will take away anything from their game?
Their game will expand even more.
Real stars making everybody shine aroud them not making players, coaches, and GMs run for cover.
Lin is from the group of people Dolans, Mills, Mellos of NBA cannot stand. Bunch of losers.
IronWillGiroud @ 11/5/2013 5:00 PM
Lin is the TRUTH

He needs time to warm up, Nash was 30 when he started dropping crazy buckets,

Lin is just getting started, and we have Felton

I think Lin would have been matched if it weren't for the poison pill, same as Asik for Chicago. I thought his contract was ridiculous, you didn't? You thought Lin was out cause of Melo?

Lots of teams sign, don't sign, match or dont for financial reason. Just look at Harden too.

To be honest, if Woodson keeps up his reliance on ISOs, it won't really matter how many play makers we have.
Going back to Lin though, I didn't see much evidence while he was here that indicated his time with Melo would have been a waste (I would have added Amare but he barely plays anymore). The amount of games they played together under Woodson was short though so it's not much of a sample size.

I don't know how anyone can say we didn't resign Lin due to financial reasons when we're going to pay more for Bargnani over the next 2 seasons then we would have Lin over 3 years.

Yeah, that's a ridiculous contract. We have a lot of them now still. Lin would have 1 year of ridiculous pay, not a ridiculous overall contract.

"Lin is the TRUTH"

I dunno about that but he's an interesting, fairly solid, mid-level guard. Perhaps about the same right now as Charlie Ward on a good year.(Not saying they are similar player just that Ward was mid-level PG and, for now, so is Lin. Maybe he'll get better, who knows?)

gunsnewing @ 11/5/2013 9:15 PM
What is Felton?

Charlie was great player on last great NY team... Good memories.

earthmansurfer @ 11/6/2013 12:06 AM
We could use a guy like Lin (with brains) to bring this team together and get our ISO leader in line.
But we decided to save, I mean waste money and tried to build the Geriatric Bunch.

If Chandler is out, there goes the leader. Melo is not going to turn this around, he is not going to bring the team together. He is going to up his stats and we have no pick.

ToddTT @ 11/6/2013 5:43 AM
Can we get a Jeremy Lin filter on this forum?

Good trolling,

because you couldn't have just compared Jeremy Lin to Charlie Ward on a good year.

Jeremy Lin can be a future top 5 pg in the NBA. I'd like to see him with D'antoni's Lakers.

Andrew @ 11/6/2013 7:24 AM
While wathcing a bit of the Dallas game, the announcers were talking about Monte Ellis, and how he is 2nd in the league at attempts to take the ball to the basket. Lin was #1.
