It's an OK article. It states the obvious for the most part. Two things:
• The Knicks, plum out of financial flexibility and badly needing a backup big man, cut Jeremy Tyler and Ike Diogu at the end of training camp and gave their final roster spot to Chris Smith. Chris is J.R.'s brother, and he is not an NBA-caliber player.

You are wrong. Woodson completely abandoned 2 PG set in the Chi game and has only used in to get back into games the last 2 games. Woodson has been the biggest reason for this poor start.
Hate to beat a dead horse, but the whole Chris Smith guaranteed roster spot thing just annoys me to no end for about 1000 reasons. One of the biggest -- it just goes to show they never asked themselves, 'what if Tyson ever went down--what then?" You have to ask yourself those questions...To me, that's how you add the last few players to the roster. They should all be good enough to play/contribute at the NBA level and should be emergency fill-ins for your most important players. That should've been the criteria. Case closed.
I was saying it right up until the end -- SG and another big were the 2 positions we needed the most insurance. We've appeared to weather the storm back to JR but still, what if? They weren't properly covered at 2G in case -- JR was out the 1st 5 games and then what if he wasn't 100% with the knee and needed more time (doesn't appear to be the case, thank God but what if?) What if Shump broke down early while JR was also out? What if THJ wasn't ready to assume big minutes (this one actually looks to be the case -- he's not. The kid's been spotty at best)...And that's only 2G --- what about the C spot?? Did they every even contemplate life w/o Chandler? How do you not go through all the worst case scenarios? STAT's weeks away from contributing anything major -- despite this, they haven't appeared to be in any rush to expedite the process with him -- so that's essential down another big early. What if Martin wasn't ready? They were babying him too...What if Martin goes down too now?? At least they took Aldrich -- but he looked like crap the whole pre-season, nothing like he looked in college and his earlier NBA stops in OKC and Sacramento, etc...How on earth do you not take Ike Diogu on this team, esp. considering how effective he looked in the pre-season??? How do you not take Tyler? Absolutely insane...This is why I was screaming for them to finish the job all the way down to the 15th guy. They just didn't have every worst case scenario covered, simple as that...Poor planning if you ask me.
My last 3 again -- CDR, Diogu and Tyler. GOD FORBID Melo ever went down early (while JR was also out) or any time throughout the season for that matter---CDR could've supplied legit NBA scoring at the 3 in case of emergency. Would've supplied excellent 2G depth as well, better than Murry. You wanna laugh -- the way this whole offense has sputtered along so far, I would've given CDR a look right about now over THJ. The dude is a good player, I don't care what Woody and his coaching staff thinks of him. They're wrong. He fit here like a glove as an insurance policy...And Diogu -- most of us were saying it -- the dude played hard, hungry and showed a well above average inside/outside game. Decent rebounder too...We could've used everything he brought to the table right about now -- toughness, rebounding, scoring. And Tyler on the potential alone -- at least we got him back for the Bayhawks but anyone can go out and grab him now--he's not protected (you think the Knicks were the only ones who saw this guy's potential this summer?). I wish I could've been a fly on the wall when these geniuses met to discuss how to piece together the end of the roster. That must've been some conversation boy. WOW..

Denver needs to enjoy our lottery pick is what it means. This is going to put into motion a host of other injuries and setbacks. I hope not as we don't have a pick, but this is terrible, no two ways about it.
We have zero depth and now the new Geriatric bunch (in Stat and KMart) is going to be getting a lot of Tysons minutes.

What a joke of a franchise. Woody keeps getting his Vets and we keep having to rely on them and they break down. (I don't mean Tyson, I mean what is AGAIN to come.)

Hahaha...I don't think we'll be destroyed like paper cups, but it is too bad we have Houston, Indiana and Brooklyn on our schedule while he's out. There's an outside chance he'll be back for the 12/5 game in Brooklyn, but I'd just as much rather him take the full 6 weeks if we're hanging in there without him.
Tyson was DPOTY in the strike short season, correct?
