Iman Shumpert to be traded? huge mistake

earthmansurfer @ 11/10/2013 3:09 AM
This team is run terribly. They literally don't want to succeed. It would make total sense to trade away our best defensive player and best young up and comer.

We passed on Lance Stephenson while the city was crying for a homegrown. (Yeah yeah, "good character guys" but then....)
We want good character guys and trade them away.
And yet, we are led by Melo who forced his hand here and we traded away a chammpionship supporting cast (or assets).
We desperately needed an intelligent PG and trade away Lin "to save money", while spending money on a retired and broken Geriatric bunch.(And bringing in a low IQ PG, nice backup though.)
Nate Wolters should be our PG, then we at least would have some brains leading this team.

I have basically given up on this team. Will root for them but know that managements slogan is:

Shump is worth more. 7 and 7 plus half a block a game for a so called monster under the boards? We could get what Faried brings, maybe more, for a lot less if we had signed Diogu. Chris Smith, the gift that keeps on giving.

As I said before, any trade with Shump should make us measurably better. He is a coveted up and coming player, this is not the first time we've heard that. If it's going to happen for pete's sake, make it a good deal.

Nalod @ 11/10/2013 9:01 AM
Faried next to Bargs and Melo could make Tyson expendable if Tyler can come off the bench and give us 20 quality minutes. Tyson could be traded.

Think outside the box a bit guys. Keynon is toast. Amare is toast. If chandler can be moved before he is toast it will save us a lot of grief.

Bonn1997 @ 11/10/2013 9:03 AM
I don't like the trajectory Faried's game has taken. I'd still like to have him but at this point I'd stick with Shump.

We wouldn't be getting equal value IMO. That's not my idea of thinking outside the box. Have they even talked to other teams? Seen what the market is? There's interest, don't need an article to tell me that. He'll, doesn't have to be just Shump in a deal.

With JR coming back the Knicks have an over abundance at the 2 and not enough minutes......while not having enough healthy and able bodies at the 4. I like Shump and do not want to see him go. Be nice if they could move Mr and Mrs Smith.

Seriously! Trade JR not Shump. This has to be a fake rumor. I cannot imagine NY management valuing JR more than Shump.

Dolan might and that's really all it comes down to.

With that said, I don't think he gets traded.

Obviously Knicks' fans would rather trade the player that no one else wants.

We traded away a championship supporting cast? When was this?
NardDogNation @ 11/10/2013 10:14 AM
Can Faried defend the 3 well? If so, he might be one of a handful of players that would be the perfect compliment to Melo playing the 4.

Or they just want to keep Shumpert?

Faried sucks as a defender of any position.

Very true.

Nothing but a younger Reggie Evans.

Lol, I said the same thing in another post.

I don't know why everyone keeps mentioning Faried; if anything we're going to be targeting Rudy Gay. I can feel it in my bones.
KEEPCAMBYNY @ 11/10/2013 11:02 AM
Faried is a bench player, Shumpert is a starter on a championship team. Elite defensive wings that can shoot the open jump shot are more valuable to a championship team than a rebounder who does little else.

Btw, it was Donnie Walsh that chose to pass on Lance.

Now that you mention it, I could see something ridiculous like that happening. Worst of all, Gay is one of the biggest chuckers in the league and can do little else but that.
