Knicks · Trade talks between Knicks and Nuggets for swap of Iman Shumpert for Kenneth Faried intensifying (page 1)

The Knicks and Nuggets continue to explore a trade involving Iman Shumpert and Kenneth Faried, but no deal is imminent due to Denver seeking additional compensation for its young power forward.
The Daily News reported on Sunday that the two clubs were engaged in trade talks.
Yahoo! reported Denver recently turned down a deal, but the trade deadline is three months away, so a deal isn’t truly dead until then.
The Knicks are looking to move Shumpert, their top perimeter defender, in order to bolster their banged-up front court. Tyson Chandler is out at least one month after breaking his leg last week while both Amar’e Stoudemire and Kenyon Martin have been placed on a minutes restriction because of their health.

Shumpert, 23, a former first-round pick, has fallen out of favor with both head coach Mike Woodson and owner James Dolan. And with J.R. Smith promoted to the starting lineup at shooting guard for Wednesday’s game against the Atlanta Hawks, Shumpert will likely lose his starting spot once Chandler returns.
Faried, 23, a product of Newark, is an undersized power forward, but his work rate makes him one of the NBA’s top rebounders. If the Nuggets are to trade Faried they are hoping to move him for a player and a first-round pick. A third team may have to be included to satisfy both the Knicks and Nuggets.

lol they would want a first round pick too? How about the give us back the picks/rights to swap from the Melo trade.

No thanks - I think Shump would be a great 6th man for us if we start JR.

I used to like Faried, but if Denver wants to trade him to us, there has to be something wrong with him that we don't see.

Keep in mind that we can't win a trade, it's impossible, we will never win a single trade, so somehow, some way, we're getting fleeced here.

Jmpasq @ 11/14/2013 7:45 AM
We almost have to trade him whats the chances he remains a Knick. I know they will get screwed over

Or do they just want to get rid of him before he's due for a pay raise? Maybe they're looking for guys on rookie contracts and that's why they asked for a pick with Shumpert.

Oh, yea, that works too.

You sure Bonn? Faried and Shumpert came from the same draft

Sure? No. But I pointed out that that might be why they asked for a pick with Shumpert. The pick would be a player on a rookie contract.

Of course they are. Because they know the Knicks will fold and give them whatever they want.

didn't woj, aldride, and Berman all shoot down this junk
fishmike @ 11/14/2013 8:28 AM
I assume with Steve Mills at the helm the Knicks will made the best move possible.

How come New York is not seeking additional compensation for its young shooting guard?

They probably think a pick from us will be around #15 and they could potentially get 4 years of a rookie contract for a player just as good as Shumpert or Faried.
yellowboy90 @ 11/14/2013 11:37 AM
I would rather the Knicks look at a guy like Gordan Hayward than Faried. Since Utah doesn't want to pay him this might be a good time to try.
