I've said this many times, bringing in a good point guard won't make a difference because of the way the Knicks play. They start every possession above the 3pt line with the point or center, waste about 10 to 15 seconds while mostly playing iso ball. When Melo or JR get the ball, there's no player movement because they know that the ball isn't coming back out soon enough to get a good shot. Teams know the Knicks will jumpshoot about 70 percent of the time and teams are OK with that.....just wait for the Knicks to go cold because the Knicks almost never adjust on offense. The Knicks shoot themselves out of a lead just as much or more than they do to obtain a lead.
I don't think an elite point guard wants to come here because they see that the point doesn't really run this team. J. Lin was successful because he didn't give a sh__ about Melo, Lin broke many plays that were called for Melo......Melo and Woodson didn't like that and that's the real reason he's not here.
Melo may want to win but he does not know how to make those around him better, he could easily average 8 or more assists if he used his head. There are many times when he has three defenders on him in the post or going to the rack but he almost never passes to his 4 other teammates who only have 2 defenders to cover them. Melo does not want to be outshown, he can take a game or two where a teammate might get the spotlight but that's about it. Don't get me wrong, I'm glad Melo is here, I just wish he played smarter. He played hard last night but what did he do to get his teammate more involved? Did he reel in J.R. and tell him to stop shooting? Melo had 2 assists, J.R. had 1 assist, with 39 shots between them, these guys handle the ball as much and sometimes more than the point guard.......it's like playground ball where you're the new guy and you're not getting the ball, soon you stop playing as hard. We can bitch all we want about the money these guys make but......they are human and that's make you subject to emotions.
I don't think an elite point guard wants to come here because they see that the point doesn't really run this team. J. Lin was successful because he didn't give a sh__ about Melo, Lin broke many plays that were called for Melo......Melo and Woodson didn't like that and that's the real reason he's not here.
Pretty sure the reason Lin isn't in NY is becaue he wanted to get as much as he could in his deal and HOuston offered him a poison pill deal that could have cost the Knicks up 68 million to keep him in year 3.

second, even if it were true then carmelo "i want to test free agency but still be the leader on this team" anthony would be even stupider than previously conceived.
there were a number of posters who saw the mismatch and redundancy with these two players and did not want a trade.
carmelo will continue to say and do the wrong things as he builds his legacy.

Didn't we go out and sign the Geriatric bunch which cost about the same as Lin and all are either retired or injured still right now?
We have endless money, let's not say that was the reason.
We didn't even offer Lin a contract. Not even an offer. Could you imagine that with Melo? No, because you get value back.
We are in the same shape now anyway, we got crazy contracts on the books again and no draft picks.

Knicks are ass backwards. Truth of the matter is they fucked up by getting Tyson and not trying to get Chris Paul. They wasted too much money in center. They thought the championship leadership would be enough. With Amar'e and Tyson who lives off their point guards and Melo needing someone to play if off....we are screwed. We just need a guy that can draw defenses and make it easier for everyone else.

There's 2 ways we can come up with a legit PG -- (1) we trade Carmelo Anthony to a team where we hopefully grab a good young PG as part of the incoming package to rebuild with or (2) we come up with a PG through unorthodox means, namely the bargain-bin route. I don't see any other way -- we couldn't even trade Shump right now to bring in a legit PG like Eric Bledsoe or Goran Dragic. Shump's stock has really plummeted so far this season.
No chance to trade for Bledsoe but what we could do is say look, let's find a good, cheap PG prospect that supplies some of the same things. A guy like Jeremy Pargo for example. Jeremy Pargo never really got a long run in the NBA for either Cleveland or Memphis before that. I thought he looked good in both stops though when he did play. This guy has all the qualities we could use: strong, supreme athleticism, can take guys off the dribble at will and he can shoot and pass it. He's really excelled playing in Europe the past few seasons and the most important thing -- he passes the eye test. Anyone who's seen this guy play going back to Gonzaga knows he's an exciting young PG. See, this is the type of guy we could get right now....Or a Curtis Jerells, or a Seth Curry. The Knicks need to open their eyes and tell themselves that it IS possible to find player upgrades going this way (big men too). There's no shame in it. We even have a couple of these types of players already on the roster that I think could absolutely help us -- Cole Aldrich and Toure Murry. Take a good look at Aldrich for a sec -- there's no reason that this guy couldn't be just as good a player as Mason and Miles Plumlee. Those guys are playing and thriving; Cole's ass is glued to the bench. I just pray that if Woody does get the axe, the next guy will be open to more possibilities and nowhere near as close-minded.

It takes courage to do this. The decision has to be be made though. Knicks need a plan. We've had no plan all this time. Sign all these guys that need the ball and have no point guard lol.
If the plan is Carmelo we need to get the ball out of his hands. Offense....we don't even run an offense, lol... but the Knicks need a point guard to set the table. I think we can win without Tyson. Bargs is adequate and kmart though he needs help, is doing his job.
Anyway is something we need to make a move on something. I think every fan can take either road. Management will Fuck it up anyway, but we just want something to follow. We wanna see the plan and enjoy following the team

I don't think it's just a matter if pluging in a better PG. Not while Woodson and Melo are calling the shots or in Woodson's case not calling anything on the offensive end. Heck the defense is atrocious and that's suppose to be Woodsons forte
the problem getting talent here is the culture. If you look at the Knicks and the front office turnover there is zero stability. You never know who the coach or the GM will be from one year to the next
I'm done with this team. For me it's not even a matter of keeping Melo and building around him anymore. We can't be stupid enough to pay a guy $30mil per who is breaking down and entering his 30s. We've seen this before with H20. The guy is being run into the guy playing over 40mins. No way will be b injury free. Let's draft and develop young players and only sign free agents who are healthy and still in their prime.
