We would have to add a roster spot.
Delicious....Knicks would be good to go and make a decent playoff push.
Just can't see this happening unless the Celtics know Rondo is done for the year or some shit
I don't see why the Knicks would even consider this if rondo is not in the deal
Or a player from a 3rd party

Hate to call you out, but that's a fool's perspective. Wallace and Lee's deals are fully guaranteed until 2015/2016. Boston is looking to rebuild, and doing it the right way and keeping the fans engaged. In 2015/16, this deal would leave them with a team option for Jeff Green and 2 team options on Olynyck and Sullinger, and that's all. They are trying to handcuff us in the future for a short term patch up. Unless Rondo is involved, we can not take these contracts.
Explain to me from the wizened, afficianado's perspective exactly what we're getting out of Stat this season of any other? Were you someone who enjoyed the Eddy Curry debacle?
You're so sure tanking and lottery picks are the way to go to the Finals? That argument goes nowhere but in circles.
And exactly how is watching Stat missing open layups and sitting out half the season on IR "keeping the fans engaged"? Engaged in what, winning the salary cap metric fantasy league?
Well, first, we can't do what Boston is doing to rebuild and hold onto the fan base because we don't have 2 young big men PLUS multiple drafts picks in the next few years.
Second, it's not about what we are getting out of STAT. Without him last year we won 54 games. We made a huge mistake taking a flyer on a guy who would not be insured because of his knees. Think about that. When we signed him, the docs said his knees can not be insured. [ Edit ** - I liked bringing STAT here, and on some level I still have a lot of respect for him and hold out hope he can stay healthy. But reality starts to show itself rather quickly once he starts playing consistent minutes
] If this team was winning, STAT wouldn't be complaining about minutes and the media wouldn't be blowing it up. They would be praising Woody and the team for playing it safe and bringing STAT into form slowly. The only reasons this is happening and he is being given the minutes he is asking for is 1) we need help in the front court to take some pressure off Melo, 2) probably to get him to show some great moves to showcase him in effort to move him (might be working).
I'm saying nothing about "tanking", as a matter of fact, that tanking BS will never work. Guys like Lebron, Kobe, MJ are so rare, that is a fool's game as well. What I'm saying, and what I've said, is you stay the course through next year. You do what you can with the team you have assembled, you allow guys stocks to rise and fall, you sell high if you can, and when the contracts come off the books you have set the wheels in motion to build anew. This is NOT tanking. (Not for nothing, the knicks can't "tank" without draft picks homie)
DO YOU guys really believe the celtics who are in clear rebuild mode would trade us rondo for anything we have?
I can see them moving rondo for young pieces, guys who are young allstar players...and or picks..

I agree with this. Trading Amare now will only result in a hose job. Let Amare go the route by letting his contract expire. Celtics will not give Rando straight for Amare and almost most certainly Knicks are going to get players with year or two over 2015. Stick to the plan. Enough with the band aide players.
With that said Rando would be a good deal but who knows how his knee is. Another damaged goods player.
Well the deal wouldn't hurt the knicks as much as u would think. The Knicks could use the stretch provision on Wallace and Lee and clear 17 million this summer. It comes out to keeping 6.2 million on the books for 5 years if you do it which is bad but not all that bad if you manage it right.
With the player option to get out of his contract could Amare take a buy out? It seems like if the Knicks paid him more then the value of his deal they would be saving money on the luxury tax hit on the cap.

Exactly. For once I'd like to see this idiot organization not make bad into worse

i would do that deal
Wallace is shot and Courtney Lee really doesn't add much to our current roster. Plus the deal adds salary. Now if they start talking Jeff Green...

Oh Lord Jesus if they start talking bout Jeff Green! Lol
you never know what a team would do

yes if you give them something they can use, like not having to pay Lee and Wallace a combined $16mm after next year. Helps them clean the slate
This would be a very bad sign if NY took this deal. I would give up on including Stat in a deal with Boston and try to make a three team deal for Rondo that doesn't get us too much long term baggage in return. Maybe get Avery Bradley and his lockdown D to come off the bench. Felton is hurt, who knows if this will be a chronic injury? I would also explore getting Green. Would be a great addition to the second unit. The kind of bench player we had in the 80s and early 90s.
No one will give us a deal for Stoudemire that is better than simply waiting for his contract to expire.
Caseloads wrote:curse of ewing.do not trade amare.
We got a couple of picks that would have been very useful. We just didn't do crap with those picks.

so you believe that? even though ainge said he was not looking to trade rondo? really?
you honestly think the celtics would move their best player just to avoid paying two guys 16 mil for another year?
I don't think for one minute ainge is that dumb..
let me ask you this fish, would you trade carmelo to a team for a amare making 20 mil a year that can't play more than 10 minutes a game, every other game, if that would allow you to dump chandlers deal this year?
