more of an fyi but throughout his career, bargs has had conditioning issues which result in poor shooting performances on a back 2 back. keep an eye on that and don't expect good shooting #'s on the 2nd night.
nixluva @ 11/22/2013 12:03 AM
I said before the season that i'd love for someone, maybe Tyson, KMart etc. to get in Bargs head that he needs to workout over the summer with them rather than hitting Milan. If he actually got on a serious conditioning program it would help his game a lot. He's been pretty good so far this year tho. As much as people dogged him out he went up against 2 of the tougher covers at the C spot and basically frustrated both of them. I would say that banging with Hibbert had a lot to do with his poor shooting in the 2nd half, as well as the 2nd day of a bac2bac. If Felton and JR were doing their jobs this year Bargs play would've helped us get some more wins this year. I'm happy with his pretty moves so far.

team defense is atrocious when he's on the court and his +/- is just downright terrible.

you see a few stops man 2 man and think it's ok...but it's not. it's only a very small portion of total defense and those 1 on 1 opportunities are few and far between.

when bargs isn't playing, the knicks are around a bottom 10 defensive team. when he is, the knicks are around a bottom 5 defensive team of all time.

trading for him was not a smart move. (well smart for us and not for you). the smart move now would be to move him on as soon as you can b/c there is a better than decent chance the picks you end up trading will be much higher than anticipated.

try to parlay some positive press he's getting with some nationally televised games and cash in.

I totally disagree -- I think Barg's has looked outstanding after the first 2-3 games and last game he shot poorly but played Hibbert better than Chandler.

Barg's has played all of his one-one match ups straight up and never really needed help from anyone -- that includes guys like Dwight and Hibbard.

Now all the other dudes on our team -- can't seem to control their match-ups by themselves so everyone wants to point to their favorite scape-goat Bargs.

The guy can't play the high screen and roll --- I get it. But he's fine otherwise and the rest of the team (including our hall-of-fame defensive ace Shump-Shump) have been below average.

BARGS is not the problem --- our guards may be the worst in the league so far this season.

Its very obvious that Bargs has stamina issues, fast start then falls off the face of the earth.

I don't know if he is the reason for the fall off in the 2nd half of games. It seems to me that the team has had a case of the JR Lone Wolf Blues. WHen the ball moves that gives Bargs a chance. If JR and Melo are taking ISO after ISO there's no way Bargs can get a chance. The Knicks don't play enough team ball and tend to freeze out Bargs. Then you have Woody who doesn't make sure the offense is getting the ball to one of it's most efficient scorers. That's a huge problem.

A lot of freezing out on this team, I feel Amare is being singled out by Woody and the team too. Bargs doesn't get the shots maybe it stamina or just that the Knicks have two hero ballers on the team. They got to get theirs players and Woody the Isomaster has no problems with it because he doesn't know anything else but Iso. Favorotism runs high with Woody.

ah yes, tremendous advice from a Craptors fan.

Can you provide a link to back this statement up, or did you just pull it out of your azz?

this year:

bargs on bench, 105.4 drtg
bargs in game, 114.0 drtg

considering i've watched the man play for 7 years, i think i know what i'm talking about when it comes to bargnani.

don't look up tho - cause you'll see us above y'all in standings (for today at least )

nixluva @ 11/22/2013 2:13 PM
All I know is Howard and Hibbert were frustrated as hell with Bargs defending them. Haven't seen that from a Knicks Center in a while. People just love to hate on Bargs cuz he's an easy target, but dude has been trying harder and he's not the Knicks problem this year.

i would love to see the knicks fail - that brings me joy. but my talk of bargs is coming from experience. unfortunately, his man 2 man defense is not the problem. it's all about optics. you see that and think good things but the #'s show he is a negative when he plays. you have to assess vs. players that can replace him on the court. last year, whenever ed davis played, he was a positive. that means regardless of who he's playing against, when he's playing, the team outscores the opponent. bargs was always a negative. same teammates but when bargs was hurt and ed davis slotted in, there was a change in everything.

the knicks would probably have better #'s if they had a pf that could rebound and defend a bit. the optics of his offensive game distracts what's really going on. no one player is to blame - my thread is talking about bargs and how you need to trade him sooner than later.

Bonn1997 @ 11/22/2013 2:15 PM
Of course he's not the problem. Dolan is. He's more a symptom of the problem, than the actual problem.

Those numbers with the Craptors mean nothing to me at this point. I can only judge a player on the Knicks for how they play on the Knicks. Bargs past is just that. Right now he's been playing well for this team. Not Great but better than a LOT of other players on the roster so far this year. He's been scoring and defending and often the defensive issues are made to look worse due to Felton letting guard get a running start at the basket. When the guard does a better job defensively Bargs can get a chance to defend the basket better. He's simply not a rebounding monster, but he has been a positive presence this year.

Bargs man D has been great. No one has really gone crazy against him. That makes a difference to how the team plays D. Usually we have to give help in the post against bigs that can post. Bargs actually holds his own. I think when we get Tyson back it will give us a very good frontline.

What do you think Nixluva?
Seriously, I wish they would play Aldrich ahead of Bargnani.

I know bargs and Amare are the 2 worst rotational defenders of all time. This is why you can tell woody is a bad coach because he plays both of them at THE SAME TIME. At least Bargs gives give decent man D. Amare is just as bad at man D as he is at rotational D. One of these days they both will end up doubling one of the refs.

I agree that Bargs defense is pretty bad but in a case like the gif. you showed, he had nothing good happening. He either has TWO wide open guys or he contests and most likely fouls the penetrator when JR was already doing that. That play is entirely on Amar'e.

Otherwise, I agree with everything you are saying.

I feel for Amare because Josh Smith almost never passes. Got to admit Bargs is hilarious too.
