...Beno Udrich to me earned a starting spot going forward, even if Felton comes back Beno should stay there. He's providing a better look and compliment to the rest of the guys. His jumpshot is much more reliable, and gosh darn it the dude has his head up and is passing to the open man!!! His defense was satisfactory...that's better than terrible and that's what Felton is.
...Kmart went from not playing cuz of restrictions to playing 38 minutes. Ok so lets make this a habit and possibly call someone else's name sometimes to play power fwd and not burn the old man out. Cole muthafukin Aldrich maybe? Maybe put Metta out there mor than 14 mins? Amare too as long as he rebounds and stop turning his back to the fucking ball on defense!!!
...Shump sucks but he's better at the 2. Jr chucks so he is better off the bench. The end.
...Bargs and center works. Dude seems to be playing into shape and rythmn. I think he's going to start putting together some consistent scoring games very soon.
so you are saying that the knicks actually have a choice other than to stand pat? who wants to trade with this team?

Barges is out of shape does this guy know where the weight room is he has no lift. Who the hell is the Knicks trainer he should have Bargs on some sort of regimen.

well Bargs had psnemonia....I had a touch of it 2 summers ago and could not walk around the house let alone leave the house without almost od'ing on mucinex, advil and Sudafed....took me 3-4 months to recover. So the dude could just finally getting his stride. I say look out for him to be more consistant and look for Beno to find him as long as Beno is logging in big minutes.
True pneumonia has a way of zapping strength.
Again...the problem is the Coach.
He has capable players on the bench that he is not using. I have personally been a fan of C.Aldrich since his Kansas days. Is he a top Center in the L? No...but he is more than capable of holding it down until T.Chandler is 100...AND he can actually post up. Why not give him a chance to see what he can do?
Why did it take an injury to Felton to insert B.Udrich in the line-up?

absolutely....I actually want him to publicly admit it...just saying that he is trying to figure it out is not acceptable for a dude with his experience and success....he needs to say he fucked up.
He better not change the starting line-up either or I will start flipping out. This is the line-up that will get us out of this hole. They need reps...in a couple games we're going to see a totally different squad...Woodson has to stop playing favorites and playing that "my players aren't playing hard" bullshit....they would play harder if the coach put them in a position to be effective....MAN UP!!!

Woody is a problem he tends to play favoritism with players doesn't see what they can do and how to best utilize a players strength. If Felton doesn't get hurt Beno is riding the pine.
We need some consistency with the lineup. Beno played well and compliments this team better than Felton at this point. Start Beno, Smith or Shumpert (and stick with it), Melo, Bargs, and Martin (replaced later by Tyson) and go with it for the longterm. Woody needs to stop playing trial and error with this. Make a coaching decision on the lineup and follow thru with it.
I agree but the Knicks have to get Stat burn man, this is the guy who holds the key to this team. Get him going he is still rusty but with PT he is going to get better and better. Get him into P&Rs this guy has come back from injuries to perform and at a very respectable level.
I will say after most of our players sat out during the summer due to injuries/surgery:
JR is starting to get into game shape
Bargs is now in game shape
Amar'e may one day be in game shape
Beno is starting to get in game shape
So hopefully we can start to see some improvement soon. Hopefully Melo finds his shooting touch again at some point. Felton needs to get healthy, Tyler is due to start playing in 2 weeks, Tyson will hopefully be back shortly after.
I really like Melo and am happy he's a Knick. But isn't it clear after last night that Paul George is a max type player (young, great defender, great offensive game) and Melo simply is not (decent defender, aging, inefficient offensive game)? And if that's clear, why would we not trade him and start over UNLESS he guarantees the team he'd take less money to stay?
This isn't to bash Melo. He played a hell of a game yesterday, but paying him 35% of the cap would mean 40-45 win seasons the next 5 years with no real chance to compete. So depressing.
Exactly but you know the Knicks will pay him 35% of the cap. They will also trade shumpert and more future picks and get stuck again. With no assets to improve with an aging Melo surrounded by a cast of 40yr Olds on vet min deals and cheap NBDL players
Beno had his best game as a Knick, that's for sure. Isn't taking it the rim without a plan like he used to. Udrih looks like a rec league player out there, playing in a fantasy basketball camp, but he stays busy, makes quick decisions. Doesn't bring the offense to a crawl while he tries to figure out what to do next. Happens too much on this squad. Being patient is one thing, but we look more sluggish out there too often than patient. I'm all for giving him a shot at being the starting guard. Its not like Felton has made his case yet.
We need wins and we need them fast. Right now Beno looks like he can help get us some. If that's not the case then cross that bridge when the Knicks get to it.

The key is to have max players who are on their first max contract- they're young, the amount of $ is a lot less and they still have room to grow. If you get them at their second max contract, it's more expensive, they've reached their potential and they are much more likely to get injured. Plus you're then facing their third max contract which is even more money, plus they will be injured/ decline during the course of it.
The problem is now teams extend their young players before they become free agents- even guys like Favors are getting paid before they've accomplished anything. So that means you either have to draft and develop them, or you have to rely on signing/trading for players about to get their 2nd or 3rd max contract.
I keep saying that woods has all the right pieces to play above avg ball, but you can't pull out your knife in a gun fight, you can't use a gun with a scope to shoot some one 3 ft in front of you, you have a revolver for that.
You can't continue to play pablo if he doesn't want to shoot wide open shots just because he's a vet, you can't play THJ if he's going to knock down two 3's and hoist up 6 ill advise shot, you can't play ray if he's hurting himself and the team because he's proven to be a warrior.
You can't keep changing your starting rotation after 2 straight loses.
I like this thread! Preach man…..preach! Murray should be getting some burn also, I mean WTF, the guy has earned it with hard work. Kid can play either guard position and has earned a chance to show he can play in this league.

Max deal at 30, when has that ever worked for the Knicks or anyone for that matter.
