Exactly. I wouldn't add any money past 2015 unless it was for a player who would have a critical role on a championship level team.

that is the same old Knicks type of move. If his trade happens and melo walks we will be left with no assets and no cap space. The plan should be to stick with 2015 plan and trade everyone for assets. It is time to receive assets instead of flushing them down the toilet.

Yes draft picks and young players who play the right way. Trade everyone except for Tim and Shump. When the trade deadline comes people will be willing to part with picks and young players if they think they can get a player that can put them in championship contention. We are always the team doing that so now its time to sucker some other fools into giving us the assets.

I agree that taking on cap space may not be the best thing but hoping to build the right way when you only have a pick every other year for the next 4 years doesn't seem like a realistic plan.

In the current cba I think you would be hard pressed to find trade partners for anyone but Tim and Shump. Maybe Artest and Felton. Maybe you could move Tyson. Not sure that you get much for the league mini guys the Knicks have gotten to build around Tyson, Bargs, Melo and JR.

I agree it will be hard since we have no draft picks. This is why I was against the melo and bargs trade. I just feel we have to start somewhere. Will it be slower than normal? Yes, but we have to build the culture and that is something we can start without the draft picks. No longer will we be short sighted and impatient. The Knicks are always surrounded in drama due to Dolan and the way he wants to build teams due to impatience. Doing that celtics trade would only add to the long history of actions that prove that point.

The Knicks gave up one first rounder for Melo and the right to swap the 2016 first rounder. They gave up the right to swap 2016 pick for Bargs. I think you have to do that. Melo was 26 and Bargs was 27 when they traded for them. Too much talent to pass up in my opinion. Plenty of other trades though where the Knicks gave up picks where the guys they got didn't justify the compensation or the compromising of the future.

Um Amare is done. Your take sounds like a criticism on the team without acknowledging the guys health problems. Three knee surgeries in under 12 months for a guy that was a top 10 player but wasn't offered a max deal for max years because his teams doctors said he wouldn't hold up. It isn't about the point guard or the high pnr it is about not being able to stay healthy if he plays more then 19 minutes a game for ten or more games.
Then Hakeem should convince Rockets to trade Asik for him. I use to cringe when he played no D , now he makes me cringe on both ends. Too bad we cant release and use the monies elsewhere because he is the reason why this team cant do much to bolster
