No one plays to lose

I always thought Rose relied to heavily on athleticism so injuries are going to be common for him.

Higher seed?

what would help these guys is tightening up the rules on palming in the nba. it's gotten so much worse in the last 15 years. doing a crossover in today's game puts so much more torque on the knees because you can palm the ball.

heck there is even a commercial on these days with a blatant palming crossover being celebrated.

tightening the rules on palming would force guys to dribble with their head up more, changing their posture some by getting their butt a bit further down in more of a crouch, and promote becoming more ambidextrous earlier on in their youth.

NardDogNation @ 11/23/2013 11:51 AM
Is there any doubt he'll end up a Knick now?

But in all seriousness, I really do feel for Derrick Rose who is one of the true gentleman of the game. I'm hoping that this isn't a tear but if it is, he needs to diversify his game as EnvySpree alluded to. Fortunately, Rose is a younger guy and capable of making the change because it'd be vital to the longevity of his career. One ACL injury is cringeworthy. Two, raises concerns of it being a chronic issue that will destroy a career.

Good luck getting Thibodeau to go along.

Yeah I know he is a hell of a coach. But franchise should really think hard about tanking they have a chance at the next in this draft.

Tanking..smh..The idea alone is absurd

The eastern conference is tank proof this year- there are so many bad teams playing badly, it's impossible to do worse than them!

Is it his other knee this time?

Yeah thought it was the right knee this time.

He probably has been over compensating with the good leg. He's going to have to re invent himself. Slow down

It was his other knee. The doctor said it increases the chance of having a tear on the good one as well.

gunsnewing @ 11/23/2013 12:05 PM
The Terrell Thomas if the NBA unfortunately
CrushAlot @ 11/23/2013 12:16 PM
On a side note I have DRose and Iggy in Eny's league. I was having a great year. Things just got very interesting
blkexec @ 11/23/2013 12:40 PM
That's exactly what happened to me.....But it was my achilles. He'll be back cause he's a competitor. Sometimes it's genetics too. But he plays with so much explosion on every move. I doubt he will change much....which will make him an above average player for the rest of his career. Sad....He was unstoppable...

Its not just the ACL thing that worries me, but he was having a tonne of other physical ailments before he tore his ACL the first time, then he spends months 'getting his body right', and comes back and has a load of issues again (neck, hamstring etc)- just seems like he's doomed to break down.

Bonn1997 @ 11/23/2013 1:27 PM
And people thought he was just a wuss for not playing in the playoffs last year.

That was handled wrong. Reports were coming out that he was practicing at full speed daily and looked ready to play.

Of course they do its a strategy for the long run. Only foolish teams like the KNicks don't tank they rather be caught in mediocrity.

Thats exactly what happens, it happen to Houston, Dice, Mcgrady, Amare..the list is deep..Hopefully it's not that serious, but my guess is if they couldn't determine it last night and he needed a MRI..thats never good..

tkf @ 11/23/2013 2:41 PM
i WAS watching that game last night. when I saw him limp to the bench and the trainers working on his knee. I knew something was wrong.. guys on the bench had that look on their face... and it is his non surgically repaired knee...

I hope it is not a tear... I feel for this dude..

How do u tank when you have Noah deng and boozer? Those guys swept us in 4 games last year

yea, if the east is that bad they won't tank at all, they still will finish with a high seed possibly..

yea, I thought he would have done that this time. He still plays as if he is part or circ de soleil.... LOL he has to stop using so much torque... on every move and every shot.. that won't last forever...

take note blake griffin!

EnySpree @ 11/23/2013 4:06 PM
Yeah man, gotta get back to playing the game. Point guards need to be seeing up the team and running the offense. We can have guys that score but they don't need to be trying to break the sound barrier on the break. Slow down and give up the Rock. Assists define point guards not power dunks.

That doesn't mean his knee was fully healthy.

If anything, it might suggest that he was compensating for the other knee he had the ACL tear with. You've got a valid point.

I used to be a manic defender, fly down the court guy tho not so much a guy that tried to Dunk in games, so maybe that saved me from having any Knee issues my entire life until now. Yeah i'm also a 5'10" former jumper I actually was able to still get up just 5 yrs ago when I was 44, now at 48, I have knee pain and I really can't believe how much i've gone into full Mark Jackson and Andre Miller Mode. It's crazy how much wasted energy some of these young stud PG's use and it may just cover up the fact that they don't really know how to win games just playing BB. Take their freakish athletic ability away and they just aren't as effective.

Pg's left in the 90's. The NBA is now guards and forwards. So there will be plenty of d.rose guards coming into the league...that's the new trend.
