Knicks · This team stinks (page 5)

That team looks like a well coached team. People say MDA doesn't adjust but he's added Hill to the SL and they're having good success. Also MDA's Gm is working with him to get him the shooters he needed and PG help. Woody is just not showing you anything. Woody got the kind of older vet players he wanted last year and even this year they got him Beno, which i'm sure Woody was in favor of. He doesn't like to rely on young players. I think if there's any hope Woody is gonna have to make use of younger guys like Murry. I'm hoping Tyler can get well and rejoin the team.

People hate on system Coaches like MDA, but IMO you know what you get with him and if you work WITH him rather than against him you know what you're going to get production wise. The Lakers learned that last year by forcing Howard and MDA together it doesn't work. Problem with Woody is that he doesn't really offer much if the team doesn't have any natural ability on it's own. MDA can work with scrubs as long as you give him players that will listen and can play team ball.

The Knicks are infested with some selfish players that don't want to play TEAM BB. To make matters worse, Woody doesn't really coach TEAM BB. He's much more comfortable with ISO BB and it shows in how the team is playing. IF the team had come out playing the same style of BB as last year when we had Kidd, i'd give Woody the credit for how the team was playing, but it looks like Woody had very little to do with how the team was playing and that it had a lot to do with the presence of Kidd. I'll admit that I was wrong about the influence of Kidd on the offense. I assumed that Woody was more of an influence on the style they played, but that can't be the case judging from how the team has looked this year. They're aren't playing the same way at all. There's NOTHING about this years offense that bears any resemblance to the offense from last year when they were winning. The spacing, ball movement, screens, picks, etc. None of the things they did last year when they were winning are being done now. This is the offense from the playoffs when they looked horrible and were predictable in using ISO, poor ball movement and forced post ups. That's a bad indictment of Woodson's skills as a coach.

ironically I saw D'antoni do the same thing when our star players were missing, but of course lin had something to do with.

But make no mistake D'antoni is still terrible, and I have no idea what makes you think the lakers didnt want to keep Dwight.

As far as the Knicks go eventually you will admit this team is not as good as last years.

That whole thing with the Knicks not giving MDA a PG is the real issue with MDA in NY. If they had fully committed to building him a team he could win with they would've had more success. He's a WAY better coach than Woodson. Woody was riding off of what was already there from MDA and the boost a coach gets with a coaching change. Melo decided to show up and stop dogging it and all of a sudden Woodson looks like a genius without changing a damn thing. Lst year Woody had a completely different plan but injuries forced his hand and he lucked into the style they ended up playing. Kidd was more responsible for that offense than Woody. Woody even admitted that he lets the team do it's thing if they play D. Woody is a fraud. We know this cuz in the playoffs when he tried to take over the offense they went back into Woody Ball and it was a disaster. More ISO and less efficiency.

As for the Lakers and Dwight, I could care less if they made a valid effort to keep Dwight or not. What i'm talking about is how they rebuilt the roster after he left. They actually provided MDA with players he needs. I've watched their games and they are LIGHT YEARS ahead of the Knicks in terms of how they play. They look like a well coached team that knows their identity. Watch the Lakers tonight and pay attention to the Ball and Player movement and compare that to the Knicks. Knicks look like garbage under Woody.

We talkin' bout Mike D'Antoni..

I mean listen, we're sitting here talking about Mike D'Antoni, not a game, not a game, not a game, but we're talking about Mike D'Antoni. How silly is that?

Dantoni can coach, I agree, he is way better than woodson. Had some great years with the suns, 60+ wins... Knicks never were able to give him stability and a PG to run his system... then they traded for carmelo... another bad fit...

I agree.. this is too much.
Woody may be a mediocre coach but he looks like nice guy. Not a strong personality but lovable with accurate bird.
This is not his fault that Dolan and Co invited him to coach in NY.

nixluva @ 11/25/2013 12:25 AM
This team may indeed stink, but I want to see what they look like properly coached. Get someone in here that knows something more than ISO and a Switching defensive scheme. Dude gets embarrassed by other coaches and that's not a good thing. Sure we don't have any legit talent at PG and this team is too reliant on selfish players like JR, but still it's not 3-9 bad. They should be able to execute at a higher level than this. As I was trying to point out, the Lakers with Blake and Farmar at the point are 7-7 and that team is actually ranked 14th in Defensive Efficiency. Not a great team but at least playing respectable ball. Is it too much to ask for the Knicks to do the same? Just don't be an embarrassment!!!

"You are what your record says you are" - Bill Parcells

Nixluva - we are not the Lakers and Mile D'Antoni, or any coach who insists on buying the groceries, is not walking through that door.

Raymond Felton - injured
I Man Shumpert - inexperienced in half court basketball
Metta World Peace - no longer Ron Artest, a stranger in a strange land
Carmelo Anthony - playing injured, takes too much responsibility
Tyson Chandler - out

We have no lead guard, no power forward and are barely adequate at center.

JR Smith - rusty. The curse of his brother lives in his fg pct
Pablo Prigioni cannot defend any of the three guards we are about to face and the one we just played
Beno Udrih - see above
Andrea Bargnani - see Ron Artest

Fired Glen Grunwald - bad karma

This is not last years team. Except for the Nets and Utah, every other team got better. We got worse.

I still think when Tyson comes back, we make a run and get to over .500 by the end of the season. But, honestly, who cares?

I'd rather win some games and finish 50% than carry on the way we're carrying on.

Who is guarding Chris Paul?
GustavBahler @ 11/25/2013 9:44 AM
I'm confident we'll make the playoffs. Every season has its peaks and valleys, unfortunately we're in a valley right now. Some might think of it closer to the grand canyon, but things will get better. If we're relatively healthy going into the playoffs and JR isn't in self destruct mode, we should at least have a shot of making the ECF.

If Tyson comes back healthy, we'll make the playoffs. If not, we're about a .350 team. So, yeah, we still might make the playoffs actually

Last season had the Krazy Eyes KT shining moment in of all places currently ironic, Utah. We will get a moment like that, and things will start to look up.
They have to, at 3-9, there's no other way to look.

I agree that Tyson coming back and playing close to the way he did before he went down is essential. Even if Tyson isn't 100 percent (few players are going into the playoffs) I get the feeling that he doesn't want to hear about another subpar playoff performance, healthy or not.

Good point Jrod, we've only one way to go lol. I don't consider myself to be a bleary eyed optimist.
Its too soon to be calling the season, too much going on from injuries to the rotation. Poster should be more patient at this stage of the season and give them time to get the rotation worked out, and Tyson worked back into the lineup before calling the season.
