I like crash and hump as players. I am not sure why hump doesn't get minutes because he produces on the court. I know there are some stories about him being very arrogant as a young player. I think Wallace struggled some last year because of the way nj ran its offense. I like both guys and I think you could start hump until Tyson comes back.
39.9 from the field and 64.0 from the stripe - at SG - yikes. Wish we had some other young assets to throw their way because whiel Waiters might turn into something, he strikes me as a guy who will take the long road to get there, a la Jamal Crawford

But you're talking about trading him for hot garbage with a longer contract. Humphries has been in the league for 9 years and has 2 good seasons to his name: 2010-2012. Gerald Wallace is completely washed up. He's been awful since he got to NJ and you want to pay him $10M/year for the next three years.
What does your proposed trade accomplish for us? We're not getting any young assets/draft picks in return. We're not getting talented players in return. We're not getting players to fill any need; we already have Melo, Bargnani, and Martin to play power forward and you're talking about trading for two more power forwards. We're not cutting salary in any meaningful way and, in fact, would be taking back a longer term contract.

Wallace used to be more of a three; with his age and loss of athleticism he isn't anymore. He also isn't a menace on d and hasn't been going on 3 years now. He's completely washed up and anyone who's watched him in NJ/BK/Boston should know that. And we'd be paying him $10M+/year for the next three seasons.
Humphries has barely played the past two years. He's also a terrible defender. He's also a 4 on a team that already has multiple players there.
If we're going to make a trade then we need to be doing one of two things. If you believe we should blow this team up and build for the future than any trade needs to bring back young players with potential and/or draft picks. If you believe that we're only a couple of pieces away from contending
then any trade needs to bring back help for our abomination of a backcourt.
This trade would accomplish neither of those goals unless our plan is to play five power forwards at the same time.

Wallace has the worst contract in the league, no doubt, but I think he is still serviceable. He still does the garbage man things that he's always done, he's just been irrelevant offensively and much of that had to do in a iso-heavy Nets offense. If you crank up the tempo and get some ball movement he'd be fine but of course, that'a a big "If" for us, given our offensive tendencies. I'd still roll the dice on him because he'a only under contract for one more year after 2015 and is still much better than Metta World Peace.
I also don't mine Humphries but I view him more as a trade chip because of his expiring contract. I sincerely think we can swing a deal with Orlando, using it (along with Shumpert and filler) to bring back Aaron Afflalo, Jameer Nelson and Brandon Bass (who would be flipped to NY for Glen Davis). I only do the trade if this is possible or if something could be done with Humphries' contract.

NO, but let amare expire and just have that flexibility. we don't know what others teams at that time may be willing to do, maybe a team wants to go a different direction and is willing to move a young allstar making a lot of money..having cap space allows you to make trades where you can take back more salary... again, just have options..

Waiters would get touches here. He is competing with Smith and Felton.
