All the talk about next year's draft has surrounded Wiggins/Parker/Randle but. after seeing his last 3 performances, Marcus Smart deserves his own share of the hype.

Here are two of them for those haven't seen him play yet:

He's averaging 31 ppg over his last three games. Dude can jump out of the gym, he's very explosive and has a quick first step, has good court-vision, shows great defensive potential, and his jumper has looked absolutely wet so far this season. He is very much in the Rose/Westbrook type mold.

This draft is going to be absurd.

With Wiggins, Parker, Randle, Smart, and Dante Exum...you're looking at potential SUPERSTARS, not just all-stars with the first five picks. Crazy.

think before you compare

playa - The Big O is the only player in NBA history to average a triple-double for a season.

For his career, Robertson had 181 triple-doubles. Without a three point line. Crazy good.

never seen Mitch Richmond compared to The Big O before...

but I would draft Marcus Smart second, behind Randle, and before Parker/Wiggins

of course, we are getting none of these players, but nice to see knicks fans care so much other teams' prospects for getting better

He played against slow , weaker and non athletic players, even though he was a smart player and good.

I'm comparing him to big O by his strength to get to where he wants to on the court.

playa - really? You need to think about the Hall of Fame, game changing players like Bill Russell, Wilt, Elgin Baylor, Sam Jones, Jerry Lucas, Jerry West, Willis Reed, Walt Frazier, Gus Johnson, Nate Thurmond, before you characterize a golden era of NBA hoops as weaker and slower.

You write like a person who never witnessed the Celtics or Sixers fast break.

They were weaker, they were never as strong as guys today.

Same for football, they were slower and weaker back then, there is no denying that.

The farther you go back mista, the slower and weaker they were. Mind you I didn't say they weren't smart or fundamentally sound playing the game..

Martin, a College/ NBDL "FORUM" would be great right about now in place of the NBA forum.
EnySpree @ 11/29/2013 11:08 AM
I see the comparison..... is more of a physical thing than what they will do in their career. Oscar and mitch rich is so I see when I see this kid too.

He's definitely a big talent. I see Eric Gordon too.

I used to always feel bad for Mitch Richmond- poor guy, exiled to the Kings for most of his career, but I don't remember him complaining.
GoNyGoNyGo @ 11/29/2013 2:11 PM
too bad, none of these guys will get drafted by the Knicks.

Playa - slower and weaker? Based on what metric?

1. how fast did Bob Hayes run the 100 meters?

2. What sport did Wilt Chamberlain compete in other than basketball?

3. Did yo ever see the Celtice play in person during the sixties?

4. What were the body measures of Buck Buchanan, Nate Thurmond, Otis Taylor and George Mikan?

5. How fast was Tiny Archibald, end to end, on the dribble?

He eventually got a ring. That's more than a lot of people can say.

Based on the players those guys PLAYED AGAINST.

The names you mention were the exception, it's the guys they played against is what I'm referring to.
