Knicks · Next game will be rough (page 1)

Home game against a team that we have no chance to match up with. The garden is going to be screaming for blood when we are down 20
EnySpree @ 11/30/2013 1:34 PM
I agree...but if we played to our potential we can beat the Pelicans. We aren't prepared. We show up to games already down before the game starts.

Truth: if they ran melo off a screen to the basket, maybe gave him a pick to free his jumper...maybe if they tried to get bargnani sonething other than a spot up 3. Maybe if they sent Shump backdoor....maybe if they swang the ball around to tge shooters like Hardaway. Maybe if they had melo or bargs go high post.

These are things a coach like Rick Adelman would do. This team is poorly coached. There is no excuse.

We're playing a team that's below .300 on the road

even playing to our potential will still be a problem.. the pelicans are a matchup nightmare for the knicks...

I was for giving Woodson time to find the right rotation, Tyson to get back, before calling for Woodson's firing. Watching those last few minutes last night, watching JR getting subbed back in, in spite of showing almost nothing that night let alone this season, and yet again not having a last second play drawn up was enough for me to say he deserves to be fired.

The only reason I don't believe he should be is because I don't see anyone better on the bench and I don't see another coach, a good one, stepping in from out of the cold to take his place. At this point I would hire an outside assistant to "help" Woodson start winning games which really means to help Woodson out the door.

There were too many things out of Woodson's control to blame the season on him, and it still isn't all his fault. But there are things Woodson can control and chooses not to, like giving JR carte blanche, not giving Murry even a minute of PT, not giving THJ a chance to hit another 3 last night, getting inside Shump's head, not demanding better ball movement, making it a pre requisite to getting PT.

Woodson deserved some time to make things work considering that last season was the best we've had in a very long time, but we as fans deserve a coach who is more methodical, who is willing to do whatever it takes to win even if it means benching JR for a rook, giving a rook like Murry PT, who is willing to do something radical like having a plan for situations like last night.

This isn't the first time we've seen a lack of preparation. Tired of defending someone who is doing very little to deserve it, unfortunately. But as I said, the alternatives on the bench don't look any better so we're in deep caca unless Woodson decides to do things like give players who are rotting on the bench a chance to maybe breathe some new life into this squad. Might not make a difference, but at least it will show a coach who is leaving no stone unturned to change our fortunes.

We also need Mills to get off his butt and get us a starting PG, or at least an upgrade from what we have now. Can't throw Murry to the wolves, if he does get PT, it has to be done gradually.

We're below .300 at home...lol.

this is one of the games they should win even playing as poorly as they have. they face only 2 teams that arent avg or worse in dec and 1 of them has a major player hurt. said it in another thread, they cant get 10 wins in dec, they might be cooked.

Monty is a good coach, he'll see a wounded Knicks squad and tell his team to keep pushing the tempo....and they score over 100 per game.

once the Knicks are down by 10, everyone knows the crowd will start booing...and thats a wrap.

I cant see ANY game that the Knicks should win.

if this team wants to even close in on being an avg team, they have to at least split with tor/orl/bos. they have cle/mil/bk who are terrible too. chi isnt playing too well, so not sure it will be like last year. there are chances for them to "get well". this is a mega weak sched for dec. gotta get 10 or better or they have to start shedding folks by feb.

Honestly I think they blew their chance having lost all those home games early.

Those teams coming up record wise are bad, but they play hard....the Knicks only play hard for one quarter.

I dont think these guys have the will to win, they know they stink.

They are cooked. Now. All those average or worse teams have better records than us.

I wish we had the pelicans roster. All of their key 8rotation players are nder age 25 & learning

Age doesn't matter. They are a well balanced team. They have young vets but they have the right mix. Their point guard compliments the shooting guard. The small fwd compliments the guards and bigs. They have a stud at power fwd. They have excellent role guys at center. They have 2 super subs in Evans and the dude from Orlando. They are a real team.

We have that but Woodson has no handle on his personnel

callmened @ 11/30/2013 4:31 PM
I cpuld never say age doesnt matter in the game of bball...but i understand your sentiment. Their roster is balanced and they hv a bright future

callmened wrote:I cpuld never say age doesnt matter in the game of bball...but i understand your sentiment. Their roster is balanced and they hv a bright future

what drive the spurs? They are very old and worn out at 3 key positions....they key to their success is coaching #1 and consistently finding the right mix of guys to put around the core guys. How can you play all these years the same boring way and still compete for a championship every year? There is a method to this shit.

The Knicks do not have any method right now.....they got Melo and amare and didn't build a proper team around them....now we just basically have Melo with enough talent to at least play .500 ball....but the coach has absolutely no plan....we are as lost as we were in Indiana....when we started playing bad maybe that was just us coming back down to earth...we are playing just as bad as we ever have....Woodson benched that kid even after a few 30 pt games and didn't play him till he was absolutely desparate and we won a game....this is that same bullshit happening now.

Woodson must be fired.

We need to make a decision also what the hell we want to do as a team....if it's melo's team we need to build around him and get him a real point guard asap to get the ball out of his hands when it shouldn't be.

The Spurs have some outstanding (not good but outstanding) young players too. It's not just Parker-Duncan-Manu

It's all about the matchups

Bonn - which one of our reserve point guards is checking Tyreke Evans?

They have great players that would look great under any coach. You're drastically over-weighing the impact of coaches. Most stat analyses indicate that there almost never is an impact of the coach. I think any nba coach could get that group to win 1 or 2 rings a decade.

Yeah but that question is relevant every night
