He was moved because he was a bad defensively but primarily cos he struck out a ton. Little did the Yankees know there roster would be littered with strike out guys
I assume they'll put Jeter up high in the order but it should be something like
1. Gardner (LF)
2. Ellsbury (CF)
3. Beltran (DH/RF)
4. McCann (C)
5. Soriano (DH/RF)
6. Texeira/Overbay or Reynolds (1B)
7. Jeter/Ryan (SS)
8. Kelly (2B)
9. Nunez or Reynolds (3B)
1 to 5 looks great! And 6 to 9 looks better than most teams' bottoms.
Reynolds signed with Washington. That is a deadly lineup. Yanks taking a page from the Red Sox and 90s Yankees
Oh, didn't know that about Reynolds.
Yea I liked him but he is expendable with Tex back
Well Tex doesn't stay healthy for more than 1 week at a time.

Yeah, the top of the lineup is excellent but the bottom is only OK and has health question marks. It's not like the lineup during the late '90s where we had a dangerous hitter everywhere
If we're healthy we actually do have a dangerous Bat 1-9...
At the same time we have a huge injury risk 1-9...
So we gotta keep it positive. This could go very well or very bad

It's possible. I think a more realistic assessment is that we're very strong 1-5, then Tex and Jeter are unlikely to be healthy for prolonged periods, and Kelly and Nunez are average hitters. That's good enough to be a top 5 offense though. If we had this offense last season, Kuroda would have won close to 20 games (despite the slow finish).
If we had Jeter Tex granderson Arod Gardner last year kuroda would've won 20 games but they would've been ousted early in the playoffs again because they could no longer fatten up on bad AL pitching
That's what I like about this team. If all goes well and they stay healthy they are better built for a long playoff run
I wonder how much Infante would cost. He's been really up and down throughout his career. If he'd accept something like his $4 mil per year previous contract, that would be great though!
Hits .318 with an on base of .345 which means he strikes out but not a bad player
Yeah but for his career it's .279 and .319
infante does not strike out alot - he's a weak-hitter.
for my money, i'd like to see nunez take 340958034985 hours of grandballs at 2b and play him there. or just roll with the lefty kelly johnson, who can take great advantage of the short porch.

You're right. That's not terrible, even w/o Reynolds, but still feels about 1 bat short to me. Kendrys Morales maybe? I think his bat would really solidify and lengthen the lineup -- then we could turn our attention to pitching (starting and relief) and bench depth...Too bad about Reynolds -- yeah, he K-ed a ton but he was a gamer. Good glove all over the place -- always knew he was a decent 1st basemen, had no idea he could play 3rd that well. We even threw him out there at SS or 2nd too in a pinch once or twice if I remember right and he did the job there too. And of course, the pop he supplied was a bonus...Speaking of bench depth -- I really wish we had held onto David Adams and Jayson Nix. Mark Reynolds too. All 3 together would've really supplied great infield depth. Watch this David Adams -- I mean when he first came up, I immediately though of Gregg Jeffries -- to hit the ground running with the bat the way he did as a rookie, and then unlike Jeffries, this kid could actually field too (and like Reynolds, play multiple IF positions all well). Adams fizzled out somewhat with the bat but the tools are there man -- this kid's got a very nice swing. Definitely not the last we heard of this kid. We non-tendered both he and Nix -- I'd like to get both guys back if we could.

yankees aren't going to sign anyone play DH since now they're going to be using jeter, beltran, soriano, mccann, arod (when available) there almost every day of the week.

You may be right bro -- they very well might use the spot to rotate a few different guys through in order to keep everyone fresh. I'd prefer they go get a decent everyday DH though myself. Morales looks to be the best available...You're prob. right though -- just another way for them to conserve on the salary cap. Hopefully they really look to beef up the rotation and the bullpen now..We'll see. Decent secondary move getting Kelly Johnson btw...Dude once hit 39 doubles in a season and once hit 26 HRs I believe...16 dingers back to back the last 2 seasons..He should help. I miss David Adams the more I think about it. Really liked his potential.
id like to see nunez/johnson at 2b (assuming Arod is playing) myself. johnson is lefty and could legitimately hit 25+ hr out of the 8 spot for the yankees. i know alot of people like david adams, but man, the kid just never could do anything when given the opportunity, he just never hit. i know he only had 140ab's but when you come up and play for the yankees ya gotta make the most of your opportunities.
i'm not much for japanese pitchers (we've been burned so many times) but i'm still hoping we can somehow win the posting fee for tanaka and bring him in. i'm weary of bringing him here, but with the way scouts talk about him, it sounds like he's got 100X more talent than any other japanese pitcher we've brought over straight from japan. we shall see...

I'd like to see Nunez never be in the infield again. I think Johnson can have a strong season like you said.
