Knicks · Stephen A Smith: "In the last 24 hours, I heard Melo is gone..." (page 2)

Knixkik @ 12/4/2013 2:58 PM
Only way I consider trading him now is for griffin. Zero upside in trading him for future assets. LAC do it because Chris Paul and doc rivers would want to.
helloharv @ 12/4/2013 2:59 PM
I can't believe what I am reading ------ most people actually WANT to trade Melo for Blake F-ing Griffin ?

INSANE

Yeah, Blake does far more things well than Melo does.

That's a bad trade. I don't know what yall see in Jordan he sucks, I want nothing to do with him. Griffin is also a very flawed star if you can even call him that.

NO THANK YOU

Do you prefer he walk and we get nothing?

In my mind, Griff and Jordan are assets. Tanking won't work.
This was the year.

Karma says Denver takes Jabari Parker and gets a new Melo.

If our pick turns into a top 5 lottery pick this stands to be as epic a failure as anything Isiah did.

No I prefer we get picks. Both Jordan and Griffin are useless without a good PG which we won't have. I don't want to be locked in to these dudes especially not Griffin. Melo is better than Griffin and Chandler is better than Jordan, if we can't win with these players why take on worse ones? Out if all the "stars" in the league Blake Griffin would be my absolute LAST CHOICE. Very limited player. He's not carrying you offensively or defensively.

smackeddog @ 12/4/2013 3:04 PM
Has anyone considered that we're all just part of TKFs wildest dream?! This is all going too perfectly:

Melo is getting criticised
Mosgov is beasting
Knicks are the worst team in the nba
Knicks are giving their top pick to Denver
Denver are beasting
Melo is leaving the Knicks, making the trade look like the biggest disaster since eddy Curry

Wake up TKF! I want this to end!

Griffin is flawed? lets see, he is a PF who actually plays like one. He patrols the paint, rebounds very, very well, can defend his position, passes pretty darn well, can score and do so efficiently...

And people, including his team mates.. Like him..

It would be a horrible trade for the clippers..

Jordan doesn't suck, again he does what the clippers need him to do.. dunk hard, block shots, rebound and intimidate...

sorry, those guys would instantly make the knicks better. while I can't say the same thing about carmelo or chandler in LA..

His face is annoying

helloharv @ 12/4/2013 3:06 PM
I am losing my mind ---- We were one player away last year from beating the Pacers last year --- Melo put the team on his back but yet now he isn't as good as a Power Forward that can't shoot but can jump out of the gym.

I think Chris Paul and doc river would do it but future money becomes a factor.

IronWillGiroud @ 12/4/2013 3:07 PM
Is this for real!? Are we really trading Melo?!?!

THAT WOULD BE THE GREATEST DAY OF MY LIFE

smackeddog @ 12/4/2013 3:07 PM
For me the worst case scenario is signing Melo to the max, so I'm okay if he walks. I'd rather trade him though- I think we can get something good back for him (people underestimate his value, I think)
MSG3 @ 12/4/2013 3:09 PM
When was the last time Stephen A. got something like this right?

Wow, we need someone like you to be the GM of a possible trade partner!

BRIGGS @ 12/4/2013 3:15 PM
Last years team was an aberration. Now were in a world of hurt. It will be a stange team even when Chandler comes back because we have two 7 footers and a slow PG starting. Why does anyone think we are last in fast break points. We were good last year because of D 3 pt shooting and low TO rate. Those three things are gone and so are the Knicks.

Half the stuff you just wrote is meaningless. Let's review
1)"Griffin plays like a PF", okay...,not exactly sure how that makes him any good...
2)"Griffin patrols the paint", this is basically repeating the PF line, again a vague, intrinsically valueless assertion. What does patrolling the paint even mean? He gets 3 second violations? Lmao you're gonna have to do better than that
3)His rebounding is his main asset, but for an athletic power forward this is expected, he's no Howard at ripping down boards
4)"Can defend his position"- he's a mediocre defender, not locking down anyone. There aren't many star PF's in the league anyway, and he's not a guy that is going to be your defensive anchor so there's nothing to be impressed about defensively.
5)"He can score efficiently", okay as you said anyone that plays "like a PF" should score efficiently, especially when all you do is dunk and take shots near the rim. So what, he can't be relied upon to create much offense on his own like a star player.

Jordan "dunks hard" so he's good? In the words of JR Bricks "FOH dude"

gunsnewing @ 12/4/2013 3:18 PM
I don't trust Stephen and his sources. This doesn't make sense. Why would Melo leave knowing that the the Knicks could trade him to basketball Siberia
smackeddog @ 12/4/2013 3:21 PM
If we're trading Melo, I would insist on 2 unprotected first round picks and 4 starters, plus cap relief.
Clean @ 12/4/2013 3:23 PM
This news is OK news. What would make it good news is if we will trade him before he walks off. What would make this great news if we will trade him for assets and full rebuild.

Grffin is instant entertainment. He will be a great in the Garden.
If I would be Dolan I would not even think a minute if I can swap Melo for Blake.
The problem is he can only be entertaining with fast break passing PG which we do not have at all.
Blake can be a part of the plan but not the whole plan...

Yes, he's a great entertainer, not a great player. Clearly a beta player, will always need a great PG to hold his hand.
