Knicks · Melo says Knicks are a joke... (page 1)

Stevo718 @ 12/5/2013 5:46 AM
Melo is the joke... Melo is part of the "me" generation, self entitled blame everyone else but themselves. I can't stand the guy anymore, he is a loser, who says something like that? I bet you if you replaced Melo with Durant you could flip flop our record. What god gifted Melo with physical talent he also took away with mental deficiencies. SAS is saying Melo will be gone... it's all making sense now. They got rid of Jeremy Lin because of Melo, signed JR's brother because of JR, etc etc...

And this has been going on in this organization for a while. The Knicks are too ghetto, remember Anucha Browne Sanders and Isiah Thomas? Isiah spoke very eloquently but he was probably the ghettoist of them all, so was Marbury, now it's Melo and JR. Dolan is ghetto too, hes a recovering alcoholic with control issues and is unprofessional. Dolan needs to step away from basketball operations and give someone complete control. A good GM with full reign would have never have even considered putting JR's brother on the roster, what other "perks" do you think these guys get?

Also found this old article on James Dolan...

I think this thread is a joke when it doesn't point out the context of the interview. Do people really have to twist things around to say they don't like the guy? You don't like him it's okay.

Deep.

Can you post the quote?
CrushAlot @ 12/5/2013 7:07 AM
"We are the laughingstock of the league right now," Anthony said after practice Wednesday. "It's nothing to hide. We are. Do I like being laughed at? Hell no. I don't like that feeling."

Agree.
IronWillGiroud @ 12/5/2013 7:12 AM
can't find anything before this point:

"It's on TNT? I didn't know that," Anthony was quoted by the New York Daily News speaking about Thursday's clash against the Nets.

"I didn't know that. That's fine. I don't care about that. We are the laughing stock of the league right now. It's nothing to hide. We are.

excuse you?

nice to see that the quote has absolutely zero to do with this poster's personal rant about melo.

admitting that the team is a 'laughing stock' with their play now is tantamount to calling the franchise/team a 'joke,' and then turns into a rant about melo being selfish?

someone help me then because i don't recall learning this line of reasoning in logic class...

The thread is harsh but Melo didn't take any responsibility in the quote. If he had said something like, "We're the laughingstock of the league right now and my bad shot selection is a big reason why" I'd give him a lot of credit. Or even if he just said the weaknesses in his game were a key factor

sorry bonn, this is total nonsense, and for a well educated guy, i'm a bit surprised.

melo didn't take responsibility? he said "we."

what part of we does not include him?

you are dreaming if you expect any player, particularly a player of his caliber, to say the other thing you wrote in public.

It doesn't acknowledge his key role. You're right that I'm dreaming that he might suddenly learn the difference between a good and bad shot though.

sorry, don't try to change the argument, because i'm gonna call you out for it.

you said:

Melo didn't take any responsibility in the quote

and i showed you how he did.

his use of 'we' acknowledges his participation in the team being a 'laughingstock,' so he is therefore taking 'responsibility.'

now, that apparently doesn't meet your personal desire to hear him specifically comment how he is exactly responsible, but that was not what you originally wrote, nor do i think any of us would expect an nba player to say such a thing publicly, and is wishful thinking on your part as someone who has been on a crusade against the guy since he has been here.

let's call it as it is, and stop trying to mask your personal feelings about him with flimsy evidence and logic to support those feelings.

advanced stats, etc. are fine, but this time around it is total nonsense and you know it. sorry.

peace.

OK, I should have said he took only a microscopic amount of responsibility. Whatever.
PresIke @ 12/5/2013 7:53 AM
btw, i also think melo is taking bad shots and hurting the team at times with his play.

i happen to think it is because he is trying too hard to be the hero because the rest of the team is on life support or seemingly dead.

the guy needs better play from the rest of the team other than bargs who has been pretty good, but also hurts the team with his poor help d, and even movement on offense (his +/- is not good right now).

we badly need better guard play and chandler on defense.

OK, fair enough.
arkrud @ 12/5/2013 8:28 AM
Melo said "A", will see what will be "B" when he will get the offers after opt-out...
Allanfan20 @ 12/5/2013 9:02 AM
They are a joke.
RonRon @ 12/5/2013 9:16 AM
Melo's history repeats itself although many times NYK media and journalist lures him with questions that he should deflect but he gives them the ammo that the media wants
He just isn't a very smart person with the words he chooses to say to the media
I believe he is just setting up a reason why he should not stay in NYK, because it is always about him
As for his big black book, it will be used to recruit players on another TEAM, because it is not going to stay around for NYK with the media hounding him, as he will decline on his next contract

He wants the money, he wants the ball in his hands, he wants to initiate the OFF, he wants 55% of the shots taken in the team, he wants the praise, he wants the respect, he wants the be a HERO before being a "LEADER" and basketball player
Melo is a STAT whore, chasing numbers on the court to justify his contract and his importance to the league/TEAM
All this comes at the expense of lack of ball movement, player movement, and rhythm to get things going on our TEAM and his TEAM MATES
Yes, he is still one of the top OFFENSIVE players in the entire league, but he is NOT as good as he thinks he is

but

he is NOT a LEADER or facilitator, but he feels he is just as talented as Lebron James, when he isn't even close on OFF and/or especially DEF
He isn't even comparable to Bernard King with his shooting % and his lack of efficiency
He needs a PG that he can respect that will tell him NO, you are not getting the ball all the time, a PG that makes EVERYONE on the team better, and creates for the TEAM and just create for Melo

In the summer, he will say something like....

At this point of my career, I will have to do what I think is best to get a ring and do what is best for my family....

The same BS he said when he wanted out out Denver
We traded half a team for one player and a bunch of horrible contracts, 3 draft picks/ 1 swap, got rid of Dantoni, got rid of Lin, and he continues to be the victim
He always makes himself sound like the victim and I am sick of his drama, excuses, and BS

playa2 @ 12/5/2013 9:35 AM
You have to ask yourself, what are the tapes sessions really like. Does Woody point out all the defensive lapses of all the players or does he sugar coat for some players. The games I watched everybody seems to not care about their own man and looks for the switch so they don't have to beat a screen. Lazy defense and uneffective unless everybody is between 6"6 - 6"9
gunsnewing @ 12/5/2013 10:28 AM
Always comforting when your "leader" agrees that his team is a laughing stock. Melo is speaking like he is disgruntled with the franchise and wanting out. Little does he know he is a big part of the season why we stink with no ligh at the end of th tunnel. Amare is the other major reason but at least he didn't cost us every asset
