Penetration is the key, with good ball movement, player movement, picks on off the ball, and unselfishness, playing on and off each other
Even Fields was a much better player at SF when Melo was out, not saying Fields is better, but we played much better as a TEAM without the talent needed contend
Instead he was used to spread the floor and all our opponents had to do was pick a man to STICK TO HIM LIKE GLUE and NEVER HELP
Without picks of the ball, speed/handle, there is little he can do to get his shot off
Even when he was wide open in key moments in the game, Novak was bricking. On paper his pct looks good but when it mattered most, Novak just wasn't there.
I agree, just like how Iman has struggled this year when he was open, the question is why did we look much better when Lin was running the show with the lack of talent we had with him?
Novak was shooting well after Lin left. Novak got his big deal, a reality TV show, maybe the pressure on a guy who who had been a relative unknown for most of his career was too much for him.
Shump to his credit snapped out of it, Novak never really did in any way that helped the team win.
You gotta realize the guy's from Wisconsin
With Anthony Davis out, Ryan Anderson will lower NO's chances in trading him to Houston
I wonder if AB will ever become an asset FOR US, despite us overpaying for him at the time in terms of value, with the 3 draft picks we gave up a lot of teams would be willing to offer us quality players, if you add in 1 1st rounder, it would probably be enough for an perennial All Star type player, in terms of draft picks at least
I like what he has been doing but if we can flip AB and get rid of Felton or maybe JR
for
Asik, Lin/ 2 2nd round picks hopefully our own (possible for JR if he improves but unlikely for Felton), lowering our salary for 2015 summer FA's
It add's up financially, while AB is not the 3pt shooter or rebounder Ryan Anderson is, if AB continues to play well, his value should go up much from being the once amnesty candidate value...
do we do it?
Should we?
Thoughts?
This would open PT for Murry to play some minutes and more importantly, we can get rid of Chris Smith...
Opening up a roster spot for us to get a LEGIT SF
because both Melo and especially MWP clearly lack the speed/mobility and we don't have any legit SF's on our roster
I would try to get James Johnson
or should we wait on JR Smith, to get back to NBA SHAPE?
If last season was not a fluke, at his salary, he could be a nice player for many teams for his shooting, DEF, penetration, and some facilitating/maturity he showed late last season with better shot selection before he did the Terry...
That cost him lots of money, with his struggles and lack of maturity from that untimely/ unnecessary elbow in the most important time of the year, THE PLAY OFFS
I do believe that he was under paid for what he did last season, but did he just work harder because it was a contract year or not, is the question....
If not, I believe both AB and JR Smith would compliment each other very well, if JR can play back the way he did last season
That could really raise both of their value's but we would probably likely have to WIN as well
In addition to us having less ISO and more ball movement (WITH PURPOSE), player movement, and most importantly PENETRATION and good 3pt shots
It would come back down to
Do we accept the fact that we will not win with Melo unless he takes a big pay cut or setting ourselves up for 2015
Is it worth losing value of our players for a chance of 1 year of playoffs where we likely will get knocked out in round one, like when Melo first came over

James Johnson? I know who he is im just in disbelief that you want him at the 3 over Melo. Melo at the 4 is no good either
bargs + kg have history and been verbally going back and forth for years.
KG is a great player who is at the end of his career. I may dislike him but I LOVE the player and leader he's been over his career. I'm glad that Bargs didn't punk out against him and it's a great sign for this team that Bargs is getting better every day. For those of us who felt he was a good addition he's been proving that he is. The source of this team's issues have been mostly in other areas and Bargs has been holding down his position fairly well. His standing up to KG was inspirational for his teammates and we needed that. Shump busting out also was a boost to the team and if he can be more aggressive from here on that will really change the team's fortunes.
