Knicks · My God I saw what I thought I was going to see before the season started (page 1)

We played essentially a dinosaur of a team last night--what I want to see is what happens tonight--once there is ball pressure and younger athletes who have the ability to defend. This is the majority of the east we see tonight athletic under developed teams who can still get up and down and play. The Nuggets did the same thing the Knicks did to the Nets. The Nets as is are the worst NBA team--in much worse position than us. But who cares about them--we played very well against a geriatric D league squad. Can we do it against a NBA team?

A. It all depends on what pace our guards decide to play at....

It won't be as easy to get an open look, it requires some patience. This season we would get punched in the mouth by the other squad and any ball movement would come to a screaching halt. Can't give up on the game plan when the shot stops falling or the defense tightens up, that's the key to playing younger and more athletic teams IMO. Using veteran smarts.

i did like the chemistry that melo/amear had on a few occasions. i also liked the fact that the knicks finally went to the boston/pierce style of ball-movement where they spread it around and melo got the ball closer towards the end of the shot-clock. it's only one game, so who knows if we'll keep any of this up, but it was nice to see for once.

I just was turned off by it. Why do we have to be mad enough to fight in order for these guys to play basketball? Shump squared up to Blatche and Blatche stepped to him. Blatche should have shoved him to the ground. Calm down pussy and respect the game.

I didnt want to see the knicks taking advantage of this shit team. Beating them was not impressive and to be that wound up is corny. We shouldn't stoop to Garnrtt level. Respect the game and play together.

The schedule is really easy for the next 9 games or so.... let's see what these guys do. Knicks still need a point guard and a big. Nothing has changed.

One things for sure, Bargnani should be the starting 4 when Tyson comes back.

Yeah, I like the idea of Melo getting the ball for a last shot after other alternatives have been exhausted. That's not say that's the only time Melo should get it, like when he has the lane, but I don't want to give him too much time with the ball either. That's my only real problem with Melo going one on one is that he waits too long at times to make his move when he should be driving before defenders digs in.

Then you are out of touch with what I'm saying. You don't need to get to the point where you aren't playing the game. When you get on the court you fight to win not stoop to Garnett levels. Respect the game. We don't need to be engaging in stuff that's outside of the game. You fight with your teammates to win the game. There is a huge difference.

Check our oak, Mason, Ewing days.... all of our bullying was basketball plays. It can be rough. If guys don't like it then man up. You don't square guys up and run your mouth. There were times when oak, ewing and Mason barked on Starks center court because he was to busy fighting with his man than paying the game.

You must respect the game at all times. Im big on that. We can play physical but there is a line and I want or team to play within these boundaries.

This wasn't a game against the craptors, it was our crosstown rivals, who never pass up an opportunity to talk stuff about us. We have been playing without any heart, the team collectively said enough and snapped out of it, if just for one game.

This game was a chance to let out all their frustrations this season after going in with much higher expectations. It was cathartic. Do I believe we will see them mixing it up like this every game? No, but I don't mind them doing it against the Nets and I welcome their new found attitude.

Yeah we need crazy to win but you don't see guys like kmart squaring up after a insignificant exchange. But you will see him throw guys to the ground while still legitimately going for the ball. That's the difference.

Its the main reason I don't like garnett or dwight. Howard likes to throw elbows while the ref isn't looking and other extra things that have nothing to do with basketball.

I was kinda understanding your point, though not agreeing, until you stated that. Basketball plays? That's a joke right? Oakley was one of the dirtiest players I've ever seen. Only diff between he and KG is that he would actually do something and did more than once.

Dirty in the heart of battle. If guys needed to be sent to the ground Oak was the one that was going to do it. That's basketball. That other stuff isn't.

EnySpree, AB should be the PF when Chandler comes back?

I totally disagree about having Chandler inserted in to the starting lineup when he comes back
Both AB and Melo together have been largely ineffective playing SF/PF vs PF/C *only either one has a good game at best*

You cannot always justify height to translate to better play
We lose speed/spacing and for the most part our REBOUNDER and DEF doesn't even improve(gets arguably worse with Melo at SF and AB at PF)
In my opinion, both Melo and AB are far worst at defending the SF for Melo and PF for AB, than PF for Melo and C for AB

While AB has been blocking shots and playing good DEF at C with 1v1 and HELP DEF
And Melo can use his strength to right for position and rebounds and not go out to defend 3pt shooters or allow them to pass right through him if he tries

Yes, I agree we cannot constantly play them out of position the entire game

vs some pretty good C's in the league

one is tough play in the flow of the game

while the other is outside of the game

Young guards kill us.

Kidd needs to find a way to fix that along with Billy King finding PG and G/F's with speed, the ability to defend, hit a wide open shot, and could penetrate so others can play on and off the ball

I was worried that knicks shot 58% in first half and were up only 4.

I thought barkley was spot on that we take hard shots and last nite they were dropping!! It was impressive.
When that happened things started opening up for AMare who got nice looks from Kenyon and MELO!!!!

We looked good last nite. Nets are a disaster right now with AK, Deron and Pierce out. Shengilia looks like crap but Teltevoic (Teletubbie) while having his hands full with Melo last nite has put in some good minutes of late and last nite was the first time I saw his game. Dude is bigger than I thought he was. Kidd has an asset and I don't think they were looking for him. IN fact, Johnsnon looks for nobody. Let him play inside out with the second unit. He can shoot!

Team looked loose and Hardaway JR. sideline college act looks like Chris Rock on 3 redbulls! I was cute but this is the NBA and what works for the demunitive Nate does not work for Hardaway JR.

Stay loose knicks and find a groove. Amare showed life. Team is taking his liability and playing him into game shape. Pay a dude 100mil you do this.
