Wojo is telling you what the Knicks want and the ESPN guy is telling you what the Raps want. I don't like either trade but I think it is obvious which one is coming from the GM that has beat us down in 2 trades previously. Plus the ESPN guy is the one who broke the news on my timeline.

Wojo is usually on point when it comes to these rumors. I'd trust him over everyone else.

He had someone leaking draft picks to him before they were announced live. There is no way he is in the negotiations to know the exact parameters of the deal from all parties. Judging from history ujiri will hose us again

Wojo broke a ton of trades and signings this past offseason if I am remembering right. He has been out in front of most moves made.
gunsnewing @ 12/12/2013 8:35 PM
The parameters of the deal went down exactly as he reported? Or he was the first to report initial negotiations?
CrushAlot @ 12/12/2013 8:39 PM
One other concern with this potential deal is that the Knicks may not sign Lowry after this season to preserve cap space.
gunsnewing @ 12/12/2013 8:49 PM
If he plays well he is tradeable or he flourishes in New York and is our pg for a decade. I just don't want to mortgage every last asset for one questionable bandaid. Knicks might be better off realizing that they are long ways from contending until they rebuild the team the right way

Yeah, he's much better than Shumpert and he's better than you'll get out of most 1st round draft picks. I'd want at least top 8 protection on the pick though, and we should get a 2nd round pick back.
CashMoney @ 12/12/2013 9:02 PM
WTF?! Are the Knicks allergic to draft picks?! I don't like this "potential" deal at all!

A move like this = DESPERATION and I don't see how it makes us that much better.

ApophisADL @ 12/12/2013 9:04 PM
Apparently Masai wants 2 out of 3 of Shumpert, Hardaway, or 2018 1st rounder.

Someone please tell Masai Lowry is not Carmelo.

Lowry is a free agent this summer. No way I trade a 2018 pick or Hardaway unless we getting someone really good back.

I'd do Felton, Shumpert, and a 2nd rounder. That is about it. I doubt any other team will beat that offer.

I'm not oppose to trading picks if 1) there worth it and 2)it's not to the same team that has already swipe your current pick..

To give up THJ is like giving them another pick, I would leave this trade alone unless that 1 pick gets us two 2nd rnd picks..

gunsnewing @ 12/12/2013 9:27 PM
I gotta admit. The prospect of never seeing Felton dribble another ball for the Knicks is very appealing to me

While it does sound nice it is not worth a 1st and Tim or Shump.

jskinny35 wrote:Agreed SwishAndDish13 - the key is to only make the right deal. We often focus on who we want and not on taking our desired players at the right price. If we could improve our own honest assessment of our players, along with maintaining our assets (like a long-term/savings bank account) - we wouldn't always feel almost broke and in a state of desperation to make the next move! So, not sure what the right deal is to acquire Lowry - but it's not hard to see that giving up more then Felton and 1 asset (Shump, pick, etc) is definitely too much. I think my limit is the Felton, MWP offer with a protected 1st round pick (top 15). What's your guys limit?

I would not want Felton if I ws Toronto--it makes 0 sense to take on that salary--even for a protected pick.

playa2 @ 12/12/2013 9:41 PM
This is how James chummy Dolan is known around the association when it comes to making deals that has Isiah written all over them.

Apparently BK is offering plumlee, a stashed euro, and a 2020 1st rounder. If that's true that's a much better offer. That's 3 assets. Even if we give THjr or shumpert with a pick that's only 2 assets. Plus we are giving Felton which is a negative. Hoping they aren't actually offering that because I'm not sure we could ever compete with that offer.

Me too, I'm probably not looking at this trade completely rationally because of that.

to rehash - lowry played like a superstar for the first week he was a raptor. he got hurt, jose took command of the team. casey wanted lowry to play more like jose. lowry (along with bargs) got called out in a team meeting by raptors players to stop being so selfish. lowry came back playing passive. raptors trade for rudy and the team becomes iso offense heavy and lowry is marginalized again. the last 2 games after the rudy trade, we see a houston lowry, aggressive, attacking and being a bulldog. of course, he knows he's going to be dealt so he's playing with a chip on his shoulder - and he plays much better when he has emotion.

ujiri is creating a bidding war - the guy is brilliant. lowry is better than felton but he plays like felton. isn't a super creator, isn't a drive and kick guy. but can hit the 3 and will rebound and play hard. don't trade with us tho, ujiri will steal some more of your stuff.

GoNyGoNyGo @ 12/12/2013 10:01 PM
The Knicks are stupid they will overpay.

Lowry can shoot the 3, he's a career 34% guy from downtown.

Vmart @ 12/12/2013 10:34 PM
There is no bidding war. This is just a ploy just mention the Nets and the Knicks management gets stupid. Ujiri knows this from past experience.
