Knicks · ***Update Dolan nixes Lowry deal that was in place to be executed (page 1)

I wish he had the foresight to do have done the same with Bargnani. After all, Toronto was rumored to have been on the verge of amnestying him before we swooped in to give up 3 draft picks for no particular reason. Ironically, those picks would've been appropriate in this trade because we're actually ditching an awful contract (Felton) for a significantly more favorable one (expirer).
nixluva @ 12/13/2013 1:52 AM
Dolan is a real trip. He did this more out of his insane dislike for the media than because he had a problem giving up assets. I mean he just OK'd the Bargnani deal on top of all the other deals so he can't act like he's shrewd now all of a sudden. That guy is a real clown.
smackeddog @ 12/13/2013 3:42 AM
Expect him to change his mind by the 15th Dec.

All Lowry is worth (he has character issues, is almost as plump as Felton, injury prone, is a FA in the offseason, and was obtained last seasdon for a 1st rounder- since then his value has declined), is 2 second rounders.

So all I'd offer is Felton, MWP, 1 or 2 second rounders (doubt we have any left!)

One thing I do agree with:

“There are two problems,” the source said. “Dolan didn’t like that someone from his group leaked it to the media, and the other problem is the Knicks seem to have too many (people) involved with making decisions.

Absolutely- we have zero GM experience Mills, green Allan Houston, that guy from Denver who works in the shadows, and then Dolan too, and there's talk of bringing in a metrics guy too. Then if we get a new coach, they'll probably want a say as well. Its madness- it's impossible to pursue any sort of coherent strategy with that many voices and perspectives.

Also The reluctance to suddenly include Shump (who Dolan wants rid of badly), leads me to believe that we already have a Shump deal lined up for Dec 15th.

Hopefully this getting out will benefit us- I'm sure there must be some teams who are interested in Felton, plus Shump/Hardaway Jr or a pick (hopefully Suns and Dragic!), that's better than just getting Lowry.

smackeddog @ 12/13/2013 4:16 AM
In fact the more I look into it, the more Lowry seems just like another version of Raymond Felton
earthmansurfer @ 12/13/2013 5:24 AM
I'm glad we didn't give away more assets. It is great that Felton is out, he was hurting the team. Just go with Pablo and pick up that PG tearing up the D-League, yes, I take him over Felton.

It sucks to even have to give up Shump, but he appears broken from being on this team. Perhaps him for Lowry and some salaries to make things match.

Enraged over the leak!!! The fool is now afraid to pull the trigger.

At least he is thinking. Thats a start.

BRIGGS @ 12/13/2013 7:26 AM
Looks like the Nets are offering a #1 pick. The problem with Lowry going to the Nets who have a 3 game lead over us--that will end any hope we have of catching them. The Nets biggest problem has been PG. With Deron Healthy and Lowry IF they dont give up any rotational player---I dont see us having a chance in hll to catch them. It might be for the best.

Dolan with the save.

Masai needs a reality check. Bargnani is a 7 footer with a jumper. He was with a first rounder.

Lowry isn't even worth Shumpert.

lowry isn't worth shumpert? on what planet?

I like how he is caught up with the media mocking him instead of the fact that it was a stupid trade
Allanfan20 @ 12/13/2013 8:20 AM
I honestly don't care why he nixed it. I just thank God he did. This makes me worried though. What an ugly ass trade.

Yea you can see that he is influenced by media perceptions whether they are right or wrong. It explains some of his other rash decisions in decent years. For example Stephen a. Smith bashing of Lin and Grunwald

Bonn1997 @ 12/13/2013 8:40 AM
So we'd give up more for Bargnani than Lowry? That's crazy

Supposedly BargnAni was forced on Grunwald. Too many cooks in the kitchen. That's why we gave up the picks

agreed... but the future looks like crap so why mortgage the future for a marginal upgrade

Lowry is a gigantic upgrade.

Lowry is a gigantic upgrade.

Lowry over Felton is huge.... not convinced it makes the team substantially better. Sorry for the lack of clarity

Shumpert is huge disappointment I thought he was 17-5-5 material but he clearly is just a defensive role player. No finishing ability, suspect jumper lacks instincts and mentally weak.

MSG3 @ 12/13/2013 9:40 AM
I'd do Shumpert instead of a draft pick.
