OK. We really have no other options but to blow this shit up. Melo is our biggest asset and I believe he still has a lot of value. Here are some scenarios where we would get respectable right away.
Trade with Houston
NY Receives - Asik, Lin, Terence Jones, Greg Smith, 2014 1st Round Pick(25th), 2014 2nd Round Pick(33rd), Future 1st Rounder
Houston Receives - Melo
Why would the Knicks do it? We get a 3 starters and a quality backup PF plus picks. Rebuild done in 1 swift motion.
Why would Houston do it? Rockets look good right now but they falter against the top teams in the League. They need that other offensive option after Harden. Parsons is great but you need another closer. A starting 5 of Dwight, Melo, Parsons, Harden and Beverley would be downright scary. Plus they still have a very good bench in Brooks, Garcia, Montiejunas, Casspi and Brewer. They also have a very good DLeague team in the Vipers that they can raid for bench players.
Trade with the Clippers
NY Receives - Blake Griffin, Jared Dudley, BJ Mullens, 2014 1st Round Pick, Future 1st Round Pick.
Clippers Receive - Melo
Why would the Knicks do it? We get a lower tier superstar to replace Melo. A serviceable SF and PF/C and some picks. Not as dynamic an option as the Houston trade but this would also fix us a little.
Why would the Clippers do it? CP3, Melo, Jordan, JJ Reddick and Jamal Crawford. That is a dynamic lineup. You still got Barnes, Hollins and Collison in the bench.
Any other blow up scenarios you guys have?
Blow up scenario--Ill take 3 top # 1 picks from Pheonix 2014 and 2nd roundr sin 2014 and 2015 this year Okafor + Alex Len for JR Smith and Carmelo
yea,
Only a matter of time before Melo re-injures that left shoulder badly and needs surgery. I would wait until that happens before proposing any trades. No way the knicks trade Melo unless he comes to them and says he isn't resigning with them.

bocker, you are a good poster man, but neither teams does that.. they are not giving up multiple picks and that kind of talent for crmelo.. no way no how..
I am sure the clips would say no just for blake alone...

You would wait until Melo's value is at it's nadir and then trade him? That's the complete opposite of what we should do.

Let's wait until after Melo retires to trade him!
Dolan will set the franchise back in any attempt to save face from further embarassment. He will have to stare at the Knuggets not only rape him from 3 years ago, but for him to see an actual star player for 10 plus years (say wiggins or Parker become the next "durant") it will forever noted knicks gave them the pick.
This is unnacceptable to dolan and expect the panic button to get pressed any time.
I would trade him, Tyson and JR, for 4 movie passes to The Amazing Spider Man 2 movie! I'm dead serious too!!!

Clips would do Melo for Griffin so fast it would make your head spin. They'd probably give us Griffin and a pick or 2 if we put it on the table. Griffin was awesome in that fixed dunk contest, but no chance they wouldn't do that. Paul would love it, so would Melo. Griffin would probably take his own like after a few months here in NY. We all saw how well he reacted to the fact that he brings literally nothing to the table when people are actually playing defense and a few people has the balls to call him out.

Why do people keep assuming we'd get the number one pick? Right now, baring a Melo injury Knicks are looking at maybe 7 as the highest pick they'd get. The league would have to fix the draft for us to get a top 5 pick given Bucks, Sixers, Jazz, etc.

I'm not sure about that. LAC would do almost anything to keep CP3 happy and he and Melo are friends and there have been a couple reports that he doesn't get along with Blake. There have also been a couple of recent reports talking about Donald Sterling looking at Melo as a bigger star than Blake and that getting Melo would help them get more money when they negotiate their television rights. If we were an intelligently run organisation we should at least be reaching out to them to see if there is a deal to be made. I would jump at an offer of Blake + a couple of picks and then see if we could move Blake to Phoenix for two or three of the 1st rounders in 2014 plus cap filler.
Not having our pick this year is an absolute killer.
I like the idea of getting multiple picks from the Suns and sending Melo to LA for a pick and then shipping Blake to the to Suns. Not a franchise talent so no reason to hold onto him.
Flip Tyson and for Jeremy Lamb and pick or something along those lines or if you want do the Gasol deal and clear the space so there are no contracts in 2015.
There is really very little this team can do. It's amazing how fucking stupid this franchise is, that it allowed this to happen again.
We have been all saying Marbury all over again and some have called that prediction crazy. Here we are, the weakest conference in 10 years and we are not making it to the playoffs. You don't win with bloated salaries one dimensional me first players that don't have bball IQ's.
Think I'm done sweating it, gonna just jump ship and become a Nuggets fan. I mean hell, with all our players and draft picks….they are like a better owned/managed version of us.
Nobody is giving up that much to get Melo unless they get a guarentee of a contract extension. Melo already said he's testing free agency.
No disrespect but I think some of these scenarios are pointless. I don't see us ever trading Melo unless he truly demands a deal. He's not going to the Suns lol. Maybe we can make lateral moves but we aren't rebuilding, we are't getting picks. That's just not Dolan's style. I guess it's nice to fantasize for some of you. Melo is playing really good right now but I guess it's easy to put the L's on him. His % is rising and he's getting 9 boards a game on the second slowest paced team in the league. I would try to find more capable offensive players to put around Melo who are intelligent. This team is lost with help defense. To cure that, they need a roster shakeup/new coach, but nobody wants to see Herb again, not even Dolan. This team has potential defensively but they are so lost I think it's pointless. Maybe Lowry is the right move at the moment. Unless we can steal Lin back(lol no way in hell especially with Dolan's ego)

If we were to ever trade Melo, the only deal i see at the deadline is something along the lines of Melo for Griffin. No other deal gets the Knicks good enough value, or gets Melo to a place we know he will resign without thinking twice. And yes i believe Clippers would do a deal without hesitation.

This is not even close to the same situation as Marbury, comparing Melo to him makes little to no sense. The Knicks mismanaged the Billups situation and it ruined any chance they had to build a winner. First off, why pick up the Billups option? Could have bought him out prior to the lockout then they would have maintained the amnesty and wouldn't have had this snowball effect. Amare got hurt in friggin warmups in the playoffs that year. It was absurd to think that he wouldn't be getting injured going-forward. On top of that the Chandler signing made no sense. He is injury prone and left us with no balance as the backcourt was awful. Damn selfish Melo and his poor player personnel decisions...
