Knicks · This is literally Rock Bottom for me (page 1)

As I stated in the Chris Smith thread...I'm absolutely done with the 2013/14 new York Knicks.

Hope and faith is out the window. We have talent. I understand struggles trying to mix in some new players but there are some serious problems going on and there is no change in sight. There is no plan and there is nobody in charge that is coming out and making a stand for this franchise.

-Amare is on minutes restriction? I never heard of that....either you can play or you can't. What is this bullshit that you can take games off. That is why our chemistry is fucked up....everyone has to play hard but Amare gets to take games off and take breaks. What the fuck is that about?

-Woodson is iso or die....nobody on this team has a role. There is no team concept. Players are just running back and forth without a head. Even the bottom dwelling teams have a team concept. The players know what they are supposed to be doing. Woodson has no plays! We are disorganized coming out of every time out.

-We have heavy injuries at guard and front court....Toure Murry and Cole Alrich can't get off the bench? We aren't a winning team....we are bottom dwelling. There is no excuse to bury guys like this. There is no accountability because horrible play is being rewarded by consistant minutes.

-Chris Smith really is still on the roster and in the plans? wtf? Jeremy Tyler needs to be the one called up. We need a big man...Toure Murry hasn't played. There is no way that Chris should play before Toure. How can we maintain a healthy locker room this way?

-Shump and JR Smith are dogging it. They wake up in spurts and then play worthy of being in the doghouse for weeks at a time yet they still get 30 mins a night.

No knee jerk trades? Don't trade the future? Fuck that shit....this is Rock Bottom! This is the worst situation we're ever had and we have been through Isiah and Layden years....At least under Layden we played hard. We sucked but we had structure and guys played hard. Again, we had no talent and we were undersized, but we were not the laughing stock we are now.....Under Isiah it was so embarrassing because of off the court stuff and we traded away a lot of picks and spent money on the wrong players, but we at least tried to get talent here. We tried to get the right coach. We tried to get talent and we did. Nothing meshed and we sucked....He failed but at least Isiah tried.

We have nothing right now....

Even if they start to win with Tyson coming back...and if Chris Smith actually has a pulse...and Woodson remembers how to coach.....Felton comes back healthy and contributes....JR Smith stops fucking around....Shump stops fucking around....Amare keeps giving us help in spurts....I still can't watch these games and be happy to cheer for this group....

I am hoping for change and will anxiously await the next era in Knicks history. Right now I simply can't be enthusiastic about anything going on right now. I'm still a Knick fan because I will not let them take that from me. I'll just be glad when this era is over.

I hated the Don Chaney era, but wow does the present yield perspective and a new appreciation for that squad and that coach.

With the freak injuries, management has the mother of all excuses. They will in all likelihood continue to avoid owning up and taking responsibility.

Even Isiah- those guys at least tried. Isiah the gm sucked, but as a coach, I thought he was decent.

CrushAlot @ 12/17/2013 8:47 PM
Not sure who got the worst of things, Grunwald or Woodson. Whatever. Keeping Chris and then bringing him up is just bat sh@t crazy. Not bringing up Tyler or keeping Ike wtf? Not waiving Chris and signing a point guard prospect like Seth Curry when they don't have a point guard makes know sense.

Nah, it's only metaphorically rock bottom for you.
jrodmc @ 12/18/2013 8:54 AM
Try banning yourself. It's easy, free and it costs the rest of us nothing in emotional support.

Let us know how it worked out for you sometime in 2016.

This isn't quite at the Isiah Thomas level, but this reminds of the time JVG quit on the Knicks.

actually, more like after Lenny quit, when you knew the team was going to suck for a while. So this technically is Isiah bad, just not at the LB/Anucha levels just yet

smackeddog @ 12/18/2013 10:47 AM
This is so bad, I found an old recording of the 2006 season, and thought that team would probably beat this band of losers.
Nalod @ 12/18/2013 10:49 AM
There is a stench beyond whats obvious. What it is has yet to be determined.

Yup, I'm having trouble thinking of a worse Knicks team.

franco12 - the Don Chaney years can be fondly remembered as "the good old days"

"Both teams played hard my man."

Chaney Promises a More Frenetic Style
By CHRIS BROUSSARD
September 28, 2002

The indoctrination will begin on Tuesday. Coach Don Chaney will introduce the Knicks to the art of loose and free, fast and frenetic basketball.

Chaney will tell not only his point guards, but Latrell Sprewell and Allan Houston as well, to lead the fast break as often as possible. He will have Charlie Ward and Howard Eisley pressuring the opposing playmaker all the way up the floor. He will expect Antonio McDyess and Kurt Thomas to fill the lanes and, at times, guard players on the perimeter.

He said it

''When you look at the makeup of our team, we're not a walk-it-down, throw-it-in-the-paint, spot-up and use-the-power-game team. We're going to be a finesse team. We're going to run more. I want us to become more of an athletic team, more of an exciting team. I want to enjoy the game and I want them to enjoy it. We're going to push the ball at every opportunity."

- Don Chaney

Damn I miss Sheed

Lets set the Wayback Machine for October 2002

The crux of the Knicks' problem has been their decision to vastly overpay almost any player who has come their way. Allan Houston and Latrell Sprewell are both modestly above-average players who are making the maximum salary, while Howard Eisley, Shandon Anderson and Clarence Weatherspoon each make over $6 million a year despite forming one of the worst second units in the league. The habit of overpaying has made virtually every player on the roster untradeable, so it will take a long time to unwind this mess. In the meantime, a healthy McDyess could heal some of last year's wounds.

Did he say "healthy" McDyess?

- John Hollinger, CNNSI

Sheesh

I remember being totally done at the end of the Layden Era. I felt the team had no hope and there was nothing to look forward to. This season is close, but the fact that we still do have some talent and it's obvious what the problems are, makes me less depressed. Also the fact that there is an expiration date on this team makes it far less of a problem for me. I actually haven't given up on this season since the possibility of trade is still there. I know some don't want a trade, but there is such a thing as a good trade and it's still possible that could happen. Just not Rock Bottom for me.

There are several reasons that I am not as down now as I was back then. For instance, the CBA limits contract length, can't trade first rounders in consecutive years, the fact that this team is so bad, Melo will NOT re-sign even at $25 Mil per. However, it is becoming difficult to believe that the Knicks management/coaching has the team's best interests in mind when they are down 2 PGs and desparately need a big body........ and choose to bring back Chris Smith as a replacement.
