I don't know if id play Bargs or Shump at all to be honest. Tough to find any players that are good at anything right now besides Melo. This team is void of any brains whatsoever, coaches included.
I agree. If you're not going to use these players correctly then makes no sense to play them. I mean if we're gonna basically live and die with ISO JR and ISO Melo then sure, don't worry about playing better offense that would get more out of the players we have. Only way to play is go all in on ISO offense and just screw everyone else. JR has one good shooting game and now the best thing is to go back to relying on him scoring. Why work on playing better Team BB where every player is performing at a higher level? Of course it's impossible to do that so why even try? No team is capable of playing with Ball and Player movement and great chemistry if they don't have Lebron or Durant. Who needs plays when you can just waste clock and then end up with an ISO?
basically trade Shumpert and Felton....we needed to do that 10 games ago

Nobody wants them though.

I didn't get to see much of todays game. More air balls for Shump? Why is it that Felton looks like he is training for the seesaw championship?
I hate to see Melo when he goes on his fast if he is still avg these minutes. It will not be pretty.

Is it even a surprise that the Knicks managed to drive Shump's trade value to zero? Not to me. This is their signature move. What an absolute mess. Probably let his contract run out so he can become a 12th man elsewhere rather than selling high. The real question is why do I continue to support this crap?
We can shorten the rotation to 3 and we will still stink. Shortening the rotation for this team is like plugging a hole in a boat with tissue. It might make things a tiny bit better in the short term but it will not help the overall situation. It is time to face the music. The Knicks are as flawed as a team can get. The front office is flawed. The players are flawed and the coaches are extremely flawed. Now that I am thinking about it, Knicks fans must be as flawed as they are. The fact that we are still fans of this pathetic franchise shows just how flawed we are.
knicks need to institute full court press and trapping. create turnovers and get easy baskets, get players in shape, reveal character and see who wants to be a professional athlete and earn that salary.

This style of play has been a proven fail at the NBA level. Given the Knicks player personnel being small, undersized, and slow in the backcourt I don't see how this would be effective at all. Our PGs (with the exception of Murry) can't stay in front of even the worst NBA guards in the half court. Going full we be a complete train wreck.

proven how? show me the statistics that back up this claim. regardless of your "proof" my main point is you need a culture change and the best way to achieve that is to emphasize defense first. it doesn't matter about having the personnel at this point. what matters is a change of attitude. this team is not worth rooting for when opponents are shooting 52% from the field against them.
That's fair. I'm not gonna look up the numbers but coaches and NBA analysts have been interviewed on the topic. Generally speaking NBA players handle the ball too well for pressing to be effective. The only person to really try it that I can remember at the NBA level was Pitino with the Celtics. It was a hot mess. Other coaches basically ripped the concept to shreds. Google in you can go through hundreds of results to understand my take on the subject.
I do agree that something needs to be done at the defensive end, my only point was that pressing is def not the answer. The Knicks refuse to play or sign guards that can stay in front of any decent ball handled. Also, way too much switching. Most the time our defense has no chance. You are not supposed to be reliant on weak side help every time down the floor. It is hard to watch. Other teams are picking it apart.

the only reason it may not work is because of the nba's ridiculous loosening of the rules surrounding palming and traveling, all for the sake of making the game more "entertaining." it actually goes back to magic johnson being allowed to back down his defender from the center court circle-- with his back to the basket he was permitted to palm as he surveyed the floor over his shoulder. then jordan came along and they allowed more palming and traveling. kids start imitating their idols and the next thing you know the fundamentals of ballhandling evaporate along with coordinated offenses. the last 15-20 years has been dominated by wings and scoring guards who don't actually dribble with any sort of proficiency-- and no, two "power dribbles" is not the same as ballhandling. the nba then reacted to this phony basketball by allowing zone defense. so stupid.
the league seems to be cracking down on that lately so it may be worth a try to harass and shorten the shot clock.

Bargs has gaps, but is productive. JR is 95% liability, and an occassional 3 (every broken watch is right twice a day) to make his fans believe he's needed. good post, but i'd reverse their minutes.
