He has Tim Tomas written all over him, different types of players in terms of offense defense.. But the same hype, a player with the size and athletic ability but a low iq and the lack of consistency to become relevant in this league.. I'd love for shump to make me eat my words but I just don't see that happening ... Get rid of him while we still can, this team desperately needs a pg and thjr needs more minutes give thjr the starting nod the guy is going to be a star in nyc... Trade shump and brags, to the rockets for Lin and asik... It makes the most sense for both teams. The rockets get a defensive sg sf off the bench and a guy who can spread the floor for d12.For us, it gives us a pg we desperately need (Also brings back linsanity to nyc) and asik is a perfect back up for chandler, he dose the same things . Chandler, amare, melo,thjr,and Lin is exciting with ray ,jr,Martin ,asik,Tyler off the bench. Lin and thjr is a awesome core backcourt to build off if melo leaves as a fa in the summer

I would bet anything in the world that Houston wants nothing to do with Bargnani. Morey is huge on advanced stats and Bargnani has terrible numbers. And for all his talk of being a floor spreader he's shooting under 30% from 3.

True on brags , but I think both teams succeed in Getting rid of players that are in need of a change of scenery in shump Lin and asik..I think the fans of the rockets and the Knicks would be happy with this move. Regardless we need to move shump so it opens up more time for thjr. I'd like to see thjr get 30 to 35 min a night.

I agree but that deal with Boston made no sense for Asik. He was taking on some long term salary if that went through. Bargs might be a better fit in that regard. Also, getting rid of 30 million in salary by only taking on 15 million is a win in itself. Not sure if he moves Lin with Beverly injured although Cannan is putting up big numbers in d league and they still have Brooks to fill in and back up Beverly.

with all young players, mental approach and confidence is just as big as actual skill. these guys are not scrubs. they have actually performed well at some point but when you play in a pressure cooker city and don't have the backing by the top dog, then confidence starts to falter. once your confidence takes a hit, you are done. melo can score but he really doesn't bring anything intangible to the team. he does not rally the troops and at the end of the day, when the pressure is on, the ball goes to him and only him.

I think if Shump's confidence fell it probably had more to do with hearing that JR was going to start despite all of his off court incidents and Shump's good play on the court. Trade rumors also probably figure into his confidence. He has played with Melo for three years. He hasn't been the subject of trade rumors, called out by the coach publicly or struggled like he has this season. In regards to Fields, He played a third of a season with Melo. Is that the reason he can't play? He got a monster contract at the end of his partial season with Melo.

Didn't Melo say he thought Shump was a big part of the team's future. One could say Melo maybe the reason why shump is still here. Then again Shump is friends with JR and he has pull. All that being aside missing open jumpers and not being able to finish in traffic is no one's fault but the players. Maybe he should stop lifting weights before the game.

On fields: didn't he play 1 1/3 years with Melo?

the rockets are trying to build a champion. bargnani is not a move in that direction. only losers like the nix make moves for players like bargnani. meanwhile shumpert is not as good as he should be but playing with a fuckhead like melo will make you worse not better, plus he has had his head fucked with all year by the entire organization. shumpert needs a thibideaux, a rivers, a vogel in order to realize his full potential.

nix are done, screwed, an embarrassing stinking pile of dog shit. i feel badly for hardaway. he should be traded to a contender and not be punished having to play for the nix. good sparkplug off the bench with a good upside.

try this: as best as you can, take yourself out of your melo-verse and dolan-verse and put yourself in shumpert's shoes, and/or fields's shoes. walk around in them for a bit. what do you see? how do you feel?

Tell me what has changed from what was being said negatively about Shump predraft? Also, this isn't a workshop where I get in touch with my inner Shump. I am not the one trying to claim that he suddenly can't reach the rim when he shoots because of his teammate or that he makes horrible decisions on the court because of his teammate.

Weaknesses: Lacks stability/discipline on the court ... Inconsistent … Not efficient at all ... Horrid shot-selection ... Liable to shoot at any time, even when being closely guarded ... Likes to shoot off the dribble on a good deal of his isolation possessions, despite only connecting on 20% of these attempts ... Shoots nearly 5 three pointers per game, despite only shooting 27.8% from behind the arc ... Will often go for the flashy play instead of the easy play, which can lead to unforced turnovers ... Very poor jump shooter, and hasn't shown any improvement in this area during his three-year career with Georgia Tech ... Needs the ball in his hands a lot to be effective on offense and he certainly won't have as many isolation opportunities at the next level ... Should look to take advantage of his size and strength more in the post, but has yet to add this dimension to his game ... Attitude has been questioned in the past, but to his credit he appears to have matured over the past year ...

Overall: Shumpert has rare physical tools for a guard on any level of basketball ... His defense should get him on an NBA roster and possibly into a rotation, but his poor basketball IQ will certainly hurt his effectiveness ... Should be an early-mid second round pick this year ...

Haha. Some of this stuff is hysterical. In the NBA you need to be able to hit unchallenged jumpers with some regularity to be a successful player. No sure how on Earth he could possibly be missing shots because Melo is passing him the ball, but it is certainly an interesting take. Perhaps he just can't shoot well enough to be productive at the NBA level? It seem pretty crazy that he would shoot a higher percentage on the same wide open shot if the pass came from LeBron.
