Let jr drive and work off the ball to get open shots and that's it! if he dose anything else you bench him...Riley was great at getting players to just play to their strengths . Brags should only work pick and pops free throw line extended.. If you see him try and post up bench him ... Chandler should only rebound and put back dunks.. If chandler tries anything else on offense bench him... Melo has free range ... This team would be above 500 if woody would only let the players play to there strengths... And it starts in practice!

The answer to any Woodson thread is fire him. He used to be a good coach. This year he lost it. Lat year was truly just luck like most experts were saying. They had a shot to win it all and they blew it by losing to an inferior pacers team. He refused to pay Copeland and it hurt the team. He lived and dies with Melo ball no matter what. Undersized team with big men on the bench that go unused. The signs were on the wall after the pacers exposed us. Yet we chose to make jr Smith a franchise player and refused to add big men or significantly improve the point guard.

That's what Beno and Murry is for. I don't like Beno but I like JR with the ball even less. If used in this role his motion could actually create better offense if his shooting goes back up like it was before of catch and shoots.

JR is a better option handling the ball than Beno..Beno missed Chandler on three consecutive rolls on XMas day..Pointed out by Hubie Brown..It continued in the games after..He isn't even looking up at times when he is dribbling..It's not a long term solution, but it might be the way to roll until Prigs and Felton gets back..

Right, I am saying that is all they can do. I am not saying it will work everytime, LOL! Do the things you can do and try to perfect that. Tim Duncan can shoot a bank shot. Everyone knows he is going to do it but he has perfected it so much that it works for him still after 15 years! Play within your skill set. They go outside their skill set and it just compounds their problems.

I think Chandler is probably the exception. He has skills that he just do not use enough. He has started this season to dust them off but he has always had a good jumper and should be able to one dribble drive to the basket from the elbow. What he should not do is post up. He looks horrible just awful. He is too athletic to look so awful but it is what it is.

Bargnani is a less than average defender ... who does not rebound at all.
Amare's knees are so shot he has no lateral quickness. He is a sieve on defense. See above.
Tyson Chandler is tall enough to get in the way. During the playoffs, Roy Hibbert used him like a Labrador retriever uses a playtoy.
JR Smith, for all his physical gifts, should be a leader in steals. He is not.
There is no interior, defensive, depth whatsoever.

Defense is motivation and hustle we definitely have the talent to be a great defense like we showed early last season. The coach has to get the players to play to there strengths on defense as well. For example Brags is a pretty darn good on the ball defender why would you put him on a player that's going to be involved with switching and off the ball movement.. Quite frankly if I was coach and saw the switching and double teaming at the rate the Knicks are doing it ... That's a lack of hustle and it didn't matter if it was magic Johnson or Chris Dudley if you didn't hustle on defense you got benched... Hopefully Woodson dose that with udrith and installs Murray into the starting 5... Murray shump and chandler with thjr and melo all those players are capable of playing good defense... Thjr and melo make up for the lack of offense with the other three... Also thjr just needs more time on the floor to be a good defender.. The athletic ability is their.

Are you saying that this team didn't show flashes of greatness on defense for the first part of last season? And even this year vs Brooklyn, I don't think we will be the best in the league but a top ten isnt out of the question . Chandler is defiantly athletic and could be great defensively if motivated . Brags can be a really good on the ball defender look at what he did against d Howard. Melo we all know has the ability to be great on both sides of the ball. that's our starting front line with shump and Murray/Pablo in the back court ... There's no reason other then effort and motivation/ buying in and giving 100 percent. With those five we should and could be top ten on defense. On a side note if shump yelled at or argued with Riley or jvg, he would be benched and even possibly traded. Woody needs to get these guys to give 100 percent and punish the ones that don't to start a fire under their ass. As for the bench thjr just needs time, jr needs motivation, stat might be a lost cause but you know he'll try. And Martin is a decent defender that will hustle and spark to a team.
