I don't think he means Lin is "the second coming". I think he means that Lin is exactly what we need and having him would improve our team by more than his skill level alone would suggest. For example, You have a team of all drive and kick players. You add 2 dead eye shooters to that team and the team plays better than the shooters skill level would suggest because of the change in team dynamics.

If we had guys who could shoot on the wings we would be a better team without a PG upgrade (even though we clearly need one). Shump and JR are currently making it impossible to space the floor. Shump is basically unguarded. He was being given wide open shots down the stretch in Friday night's meltdown, highlighted by a brick on a open foul line jumper. Not sure why people always point to Lin as the guy. The Knicks need a guy who can play a lil defense at the point and penatrate. Lin only does one of those things well and is TO prone.

I don't agree with a lot the Lin hype but I think people always point to him as the guy because we had him and let him go. Like we're vying for a PG when we already had one.

I feel what you're saying, it didn't seem like Kidd made that much of a difference to change a 9-21 team into a 54 win team. Sure he was good the first part of the season but his contributions came much more in the form of leadership and demeanor than on-court production. I think people look at Kidd as the guy last year because they have a hard time finding another reaaon for the huge dropoff, as most of the players are the same. Kidd's absence is pretty much the biggest change so people inflate him up to be more than he was as a means to somehow justify how a team that played so well last year could fall so far, so quickly. I don't have an answer so I can't really blame people for thinking that way, leadership is definitely an issue this year.
If we had kept Lin, that would at least give the team another Penetrating PG, who could break down a defense and create more scoring opportunities. This team needs that aspect of the game. All we have is ISO players and guys that don't have complete offensive games. So that leaves 3pt shooting and ISO Melo and JR. We used to mix in PnR with Tyson and Felton, but now we don't even have that. Having Lin would add another dimension. The same would go for adding Lowry. We just need GOOD PG PLAY, period!!! It was stupid not to have more than just Felton and Prigs. Also Woody should've been working Murry in more over the course of the season. Beno had shown early on that he wasn't ready after coming in out of shape. That should've been punished by giving Murry some of his minutes. Sure he would've made mistakes early, but by now he'd be fully comfortable and could've contributed more when the team was really desperate for a PG.

When we went on to win 13 in a row it was because Carmelo was playing out of his mind. When Carmelo is hitting shots at the rate he was hitting shots at during that stretch he can carry teams. When Felton plays well we do play way better but he isn't a reliable player.

Saying it's wrong is a bit of a stretch given that his TO per game put him in the top 30 or so in league and he isn't dominating the ball or logging major minutes. Guy is not the difference maker that people often portray him to be on this board.

We dont have a 55% post player (Ewing) that allows our PGs to walk the ball up the court and drop it into the paint. We need a floor general to get guys involved. What we have are some 'scorers' chucking the ball at the rim everything they can actually see it.

It seemed that the Raptors required we give up a first round pick and IMO, we should not give up a first rounder under any circumstance. Considering what has happened the past few years, I think it is pretty evident that trading draft picks, especially if unprotected, is a bad idea. If we want Lowry so badly, we can just sign him this offseason.

Here's what I don't get whenever people defend letting Lin walk. Even if you take the view that Lin was at BEST a serviceable backup PG (his numbers certainly bear that out), we got him without giving up any assets, won his bird rights via an arbitration hearing THEN LET HIM WALK FOR NOTHING when our not even close biggest need is serviceable guards! How ax anyone seriously defend the Knicks decision making here? And screw the cap, this is the Dolan Knicks who spent billions marching out garbage teams for a decade.

Curse of the Dragon. Unless we get lucky and get another very good PG then we are going to see this kind of play for years to come. We don't even have our own fucking pick this year which is going to be in the lottery. Yeah, I know stating the obvious.
Instead of Lin we get the Knucklehead brothers. Yippee.
I brought up Linsanity because Tyson Chandler looked good offensively. Jared Jeffries was getting buckets and looked like a real NBA player. Good guard play elevated the whole team. Bad guard play can bring down a whole team. We are seeing it now and we have need it before on this same team very recently pre-linsanity.
I undertsand that MSG didnt want to overpay for Lowry, but they were so worried about overpaying that they didnt consider their team needs.
Kidd went down and we were still playing great basketball...Second half of the year, Kidd imploded and we went on to win 13 in a row...Common denominator???, Felton!!..Jason Kidd said Felton was the engine...MVP against Boston in the playoffs...When Felton wasn't hurt, we played good basketball, we won...Felton has been hurt since preseason this year..We suck without him at 100% getting in the lane, period...
Kidd as savior is the common chant of Melohaters everywhere. Kidd, Rasheed, geez, I even read about Camby leading us through the playoffs without even playing.
Lin...in...Houston...can't...compete...with...Patrick...Beverly...
