There was an article today saying Melo plans on leaving because he can't win with this roster. They mentioned the Clips, Bulls and Lakers.
However Clips don't have the cap space, neither do the Bulls (plus Melo and Rose makes no sense), and I don't see how the Lakers have a championship roster (plus Kobe and Melo makes no sense, and they have D'Antoni).
In fact if you look at the teams with a reasonable chunk of cap space, the only ones that are any good are the Suns and the Mavs. I don't really see Melo fitting next to Ellis, but maybe they'll make a move for him. Would Melo be happy playing with a young Suns team? Would they even want him, seeing how he doesn't fit with what they do? I think its unlikely.
So really what options does he have?

I suspect Camby- he's in Texas. Could be Billups, but he only played with him for a couple of seasons.
The only place where melo can get paid max is NY.
So he and his agents need to do everything possible to convince Dolan.

As per melo wanting to win it all 129 mils actually is this ALL.
Most if not any of the NBA players will take it for some little rings.

The question is multifold. I think that there is a moderate chance he leaves but irrespective of the case, the better question is if we want him at +$20 million, for the next 5 years with him about to turn 30. As much as I like him, I don't think I do. Like I said a thousand times, I think the guy is going to break down badly over the next few years.
The logic is he would fit onto the clips with a trade. Doc Rivers is being paid big and Melo is a good fit in place of Griffith.
Thats really been the talk. As far as being a free agent teams can clear space.
Could he find his way to another team as a free agent that is not NY or L.A.? That's possible.
Logic is we'll pay him big.

The Bulls aren't looking to add salary, they are looking to get rid of it. I doubt they make a move for Melo considering this fact. More importantly, I wouldn't make the move from our perspective either. Getting a draft pick from a team is meaningless if we're giving up Melo in the process. He'll jack up his new team's win total and screw the value of that pick. I'd need the pick(s) to come from a third party for it to make sense.
Look the melo tarde didnt work out. melo did what he does best which is score(he was scoring champion last year) but i still feel things would have been different IF melo waited to sign with us. we could have saved the first round picks and use the other assets to get either Paul or Howard

I'm putting my money on Kidd. He has every incentive to gin up shit with the Knicks. With the Nets in an even worse situation, he needs to draw the focus away from his team in hopes of stiffling the "fire Kidd" rumors that are making the rounds.

Melo is stubborn and woody and MDA had/have no idea how to use him. Woody is too focused on yelling at Shump for something or filling out job applications to make adjustments.

What about the Olympics, which Melo was exceedingly efficient in and at an uptempo pace?
I can see him leave. Melo forced a trade so that he could run with Amare. That seems like a player that wants to win. We got Tyson Chandler so the front court was strong. Then Amare got injured and everything went to crap. If it is true and all he wants to do is win, there is a good chance he will look for other players he can join and win a championship.

We running with two liability positions. We are erratic at the 2 (JR and Shump) and while some are screeming about Beno, he is as good as most 3rd stringers. We rolling with 3rd string PG. Off the bench, our enforcers (metta and Kmart) are compromised by injury.
Now Im not saying we need all stars at these positions but a front court of Melo-Bargs-Tyson is pretty substantial in my view.
Hardaway Jr is a good rookie and in the rotation. Murry is developing and perhaps Tyler can give us 15 minutes of reasonable quality.
I doubt we are getting serious upgrades at the 1 or the 2 this season, or at the backup 4. A healthy felton was the PG for a 54 win team as was his backup. Get healthy and get shump and JR's heads on right and we could take the division again.
Of course Melo looks good on the olympic team! I'd look good on the olympic team!!

The knock on Melo by his haters is that he's an inefficient ball hog who hurts other peoples' game, as VMart has alluded on several occasions and tried doing so again in this thread. I brought up the Olympics because it's clear demonstration that Melo CAN play team ball and be highly efficient, which I don't think is a given for Olympic play (see the pre-LeBron James/Mike K and post 2000 teams). More importantly, other "stars" have struggled in that capacity in the past e.g. Deron Williams, Kevin Love, etc. Even in the league, elite players have struggled on star studded teams like Gary Payton did with the 2004 Lakers and like Ray Allen did following the emergence of Rajon Rondo. Anyway, the point of all of this is to show that Melo can be efficient with a capable supporting cast and can help, not hurt, their games. Bargs and Chandler doesn't fulfill that criteria for me; after all, there is a reason why both were made available to us. Hell, Bargs would've been amnestied had we not been dumb enough to trade for him.
