@FisolaNYDN: Mike Woodson says J.R. Smith went "blank" when he took the ill-advised three vs. Houston
but added "did Beno have to throw him the ball?"

Ha, Woody dislikes Beno as much as I do! Woody seems to have become like D'Antoni , throwing players under a bus in interviews. Is he trying to motivate him or is he just trolling at this point?

I see it more as him deflecting blame to Beno to take the heat off one of his favorites

beno sucks, but he should be talking about his horrible defense and his decision making.

I agree, but Woody isn't the only coach to do it.

Exactly. When Ray and Prigs come back the odd man out will be Beno. I could see Murry still getting time over Beno.

Woodson is still a f'in joke for saying this though. JR "kid gloves" Smith. Can we ship them out together please?

Knicks22 @ 1/5/2014 5:32 PM
A new low for Woodson in his bizarre campaign to continue to hold JR unaccountable.

Yeah. Not a good move by the coach. Just say that it was a team loss or something. Woodson looks bush league here.

Always shifting blame away from JR.

prepare your team for certain situations and they won't have melt downs like they do

GustavBahler @ 1/5/2014 10:12 PM
I wish we could send JR to D league and leave him there. What a train wreck. Whatever happened to the guy who kept taking it to the rim last season ? I didn't mind a bad shot now and then, not because he was making more of them last year, but because he was doing a good job of sharing the rock and taking it to the rim. Its like everything that made him 6th man of the year has been surgically removed.
anrst @ 1/5/2014 10:18 PM
he sucked again tonight ... and yet was in there getting lotta PT and in there in crunch time ... sucking.

great win tonight.

it sounded to me like Breen was actually surprised during substitutions that JR wasn't getting the hook.

Dagger @ 1/5/2014 10:34 PM
It's a joke that JR played 30 minutes tonight and THjr played 11.
buddapaw @ 1/5/2014 10:37 PM

I caught that too. My brother also told me Hahn had some comments about JR having a longer leash than other guys. Seems like more and more people are noticing.

But he was working on Marion shoelaces...
May be he want to hang himself?

The sowlace stunt makes me question his mental focus. That's the type of stunt you pull when your are looking to get into a fight. I suspect he has another fine coming.

Either that or he simply wanted Marion to fall and break his neck. Maybe he is trying to sabotage the Knicks season for cutting his brother. Neither are out of the question.

Vmart @ 1/6/2014 11:56 AM
JR should get suspended 10 games for his shenanigans. I mean come on untie someone's shoelaces what if Marion tripped over himself and got injured.

Woodson had the wrong guys on a minute restriction - should be JR - let him have 20 and if he can be efficient, smart, let him have more - otherwise HTjr has been a god send - smart, efficient - doubt he jacks the 3 in houston like JR did.

The knicks need to be actively shopping him. i can't see a team that would want him in their team. He's an asshole.

I don't hate him, not as a person anyway. This was meant to be more of a spoof. I agree with you though about needing to move him though. Maybe Portland would take him. Maybe an Indiana or Memphis. Whatever the market, it's certainly not bountiful.

For the record though, I never liked JR as a ball player but I began to change my opinion of him when he became a Knick. He was productive, albeit flawed, and showed a loyalty to the fanbase/franchise by signing contracts that were continually below his market value. Then last season happened and he played like a borderline all-star and was a major part in us becoming a real playoff contender. What's not to love about all of that? Once he got his guaranteed money though, it's like a switch went off and he reverted back to the same dude I couldn't stand. It may have all been a gimmick he was putting on until he could mail things in until he had another contract year to deal with. I hate looking stupid and it seems I was with J.R. (for changing my opinion of him).

who was offering JR smith more money?

Nalod @ 1/6/2014 1:19 PM
JR needs a laugh track for this to work.
smackeddog @ 1/7/2014 4:50 AM
Jr's shoe lace incident is being investigated by the nba. Strange, I don't remember Wade getting investigated when he threw Bibbys shoe into the stands during a playoff game.
