Cartman718 wrote:NEW YORK -- New York Knicks guard J.R. Smith has been fined $50,000 for recurring instances of unsportsmanlike conduct, it was announced today by Rod Thorn, President, Basketball Operations.
During the Knicks' 92-80 win over the Dallas Mavericks on Jan. 5, at American Airlines Center, Smith untied the shoelace of Mavericks' forward Shawn Marion during a free throw attempt. After Smith was warned by the league office to refrain from further conduct of this nature, he attempted to repeat the action last night during New York's 89-85 win over the Detroit Pistons at Madison Square Garden.
I must have missed that. Wow! I don't know what's wrong with this guy's brain
Cocaine is not good for you....

Too bad he didn't get suspended in addition to being fined. Apparently the Knick are not going to discipline him by having sit for any length of time.

We should suspend him 1 game without pay. Maybe that will wake him up.
In the thread about Houston as GM of our NBDL team - someone mentioned Sprewell. Spree was a character - but unlike Smith, not an imbecile knucklehead.
What is Woody going to do- warn him?
Suspend him 1 game, dock his pay. and sit him the next game.
Then ask if he is ready to grow up or not.

I wonder what MDA would have done if he was coaching, considering how he treated steph and Nate, I'm sure JR would have been traded by now

If Walsh were in NY he would have been traded no matter who was coaching.

did you here the boos when he entered the game, I can't recall the last time i heard a knick fan boo one of there own entering a game.. Not even steph or curry
MinsHeartsReezy@ 1/8/2014 5:06 PM
He's an idiot for doing it the first time and even more of an ass for doing it again after getting off with a warning. He strikes me as the type to file for bankruptcy a couple of years after retirement because he clearly doesn't like holding onto his money.

Yeah. Tomorrow night should be interesting because he since has been fined by the nba and his brother was signed by the bayhawks.

JR's shot attempts are down, and he's rebounding. So there.
Are you talking about the 2-3 start to the season without him? You're just counting the 3 losses?
when they occurred all in a row, yes.
you're just counting the 2 wins?
Makes sense since we haven't lost 3 games in a row without JR in the lineup </s>

I hate this clown so much. i was saying all offseason taht giving him anymore than a 1 year deal is a mistake and i was right. Also he is taking playing time away from Hardaway Jr who is one of teh few players we have that i want to see get playing time

Now hold on, JR has been a complete embarrassment this season but don't blame him for Hardaway's minutes. That's on our joke of a coach.
Knicks22@ 1/8/2014 6:34 PM
absolute a disgrace. applaud the NBA for trying to hold this punk fool accountable. Pity he's being enabled by Woodson. Dolan should cut both.
ToddTT@ 1/8/2014 7:10 PM
I'm surprised the fine was as high as it was for the fake attempt.
I don't think it was that big of a deal.
I hope JR gives Bosh a wedgie tomorrow night. Or maybe a wet willy to Lebron or Dick Bavetta.

Woody has an opportunity show some of that accountability he's always talked about. Let's hope it happens.

Woodson is all for holding players accountable, not necessarily the players who deserve it the most.

was really hoping for a suspension

Don't remember that getting a fraction of the backlash JR got. JR has lots of faults, and he's been pissing me off most of the season, but I'm not bothered about him untying someones shoe lace.
Totally agree, but when you're a lightning rod for acting like an idiot and playing like garbage on an under performing team the consequences shouldn't be too surprising. The fact that he did it, or faked it, again was a giant FU to everyone. The guy is like a f'in child pushing a parent's boundaries.
You think DWade is chucking a 3 w/ 17 secs left on the clock bc he's oblivious to the situation?
I hope JR sees the bench all night tonight and THJr and Shump lead us to a huge victory.

I think there is a better chance for Marbury to get re-signed tonight (Please God forbid) then for JR to get benched. Just my gut feeling though. I could be wrong.

Well now we're 3-3 in the six games without JR. I guess you'll point out that we're still 0-3 in the three losses though
