Can the NBA structure its contracts like the MLB where a player is signed to X amount in guaranteed and the deal rises with performance bonuses?
yes, but those bonuses count towards the cap. So if you pay a guy $5mm but he can make $8mm if he plays in 70 games or scores 20ppg or whatever your cap hit $8mm
