Knicks · Our season finally starts (page 1)

Anybody have any idea why it started so poorly..I think it's a safe bet to say we won't lose another game until were at .500, maybe 1.
CrushAlot @ 1/11/2014 10:05 PM
Hope you are right. Everybody is playing really well. I love the kmart stat platoon. If jr is back this team will be a tough out.
yellowboy90 @ 1/11/2014 10:06 PM
The fourth quarter felt like a boxer dancing around the ring only to throw a few jabs in the late rounds when he knows he is ahead on pts.
CrushAlot @ 1/11/2014 10:19 PM
You have to hope that this is about guys getting over summer surgeries and the team coming together. Great game tonight. The Knicks should have beaten the Rockets. This has the makings of a great run.

Must be good coaching..

When everyone is hurt and playing poorly, he gets blamed for bad coaching..So now that guys are getting healthy and knocking down shots then it must be good coaching...

This season reminds so much of the year John McLeod was coach. There were high expectations and the team just got mired in mediocrity the year before. Al Bianchi insisted on running a half court team and we didn't have the pieces necessary for that. I'm hopeful Woody has finally figured this team out.

Papabear Says

Like I said before this team was put together to beat the heat and the Pacers. Watch when playoffs come.

The coaching stuff by me was sarcasm..But how could Woody be judged when u are missing 3 guys in your starting lineup, JR and Shump's head just messed up...How can he be judged???...There was a stat which said the team or starting lineup is healthy for only half of one game this season...People were actually saying how bad he was when Felton, Chandler and Melo were out with injuries...

dude we came to this season completely healthy for the first time in major yrs..
woodson coaches better when he has a short rotation.

Bonn1997 @ 1/12/2014 2:40 AM
It must be the case that Woodson was a very good coach for 2 years, he forgot what to do for 2 months, and now he remembers again.
And those two months just happened to coincide with a lot of injuries.

And alot of Bullshit surrounding management/jr/shump.

The rotation is finding it's chemistry. Finding a home for Tyson, Beno right now is priority. Tyson doesn't fit. I would love to get Perkins for our bench. Perkins doesn't need alot of minutes and he thrives at being an enforcer. Tyson need his minutes but with a straight face I think Bargs needs those minutes more.

yellowboy90 @ 1/12/2014 6:39 AM
No there were lot of coaching mistakes. Sticking with Jr when his shot and shot selection is off, not calling timeouts, puting Amar'e and Bargs together when you need a defensive stop, and a lot of other things.

This Bargs?

Tyson can fit if he starts playing better D and not go into his fake tough guy act.

I am not sure if you are talking about other people but injured players have nothing to do with why I think woody is a bad coach.

Playing JR clutch minutes when it is obvious he is having an awful game has nothing to do with injuries.
Going ISO Melo at the end of every single close game has nothing to do with injuries.
Double teaming crappy players in the post only to give up open 3's has nothing to do with injures.
The inability to know when to call timeouts at the end of the game has nothing to do with injuries.
The preferential treatment he has towards players has nothing to do with injuries.
His lack of situational play calling has nothing to do with injures.
His lack of plays that don't lead to an ISO Melo has nothing to do with injuries.
His lack of in game adjustments has nothing to do with injuries.
His lack of Playoff series adjustments has nothing to do with injuries.
His lack of basketball IQ has nothing to do with injuries.

There is a ton of reasons why I thought woody was a bad coach and I still think he is a bad coach. There is a good chance I am forgetting a lot more issues I have with him.

Not saying Bargs is a great perimeter defender, but does he seem a little slow footed there because he may just be playing the passing lane out to Hawes? And he's counting on somebody down low to protect the rim?

On a related note, check out Amare with the Kurt Thomas impression. Every game Amare is looking better and better. I try to look at is as just a bonus for us... but his play does make you wonder what the possibilities could be.

That Gif is a bad example of what you are trying to say about his defense. There is no doubt that Bargs is a poor help defender but he is a very good man defender. This gif that you posted is more about Amare defending the rim and Bargs closing out from behind. The kicks rotations have to get better and they are.

It's Woodson job to get all this corrected. Gotta give credit cuts something has changed recently somehow. Wish they would have figured this out in pre season!!!!!!!

This jinxing thread! If things start to go wrong we'll know exactly who's to blame!

We still have problems, but I'm impressed we're somehow winning despite them. Bargs continues to come and go as he pleases, showing up for some games, when he feels like it, not really trying when he can't be bothered- very annoying, but I'm glad Woody has decided to bench him when he's clearly not into the game.

I'll be honest- I'm so happy we're winning, but I really don't understand how we're doing it!

Team chemistry. It just clicked outta nowhere.

When Priggy comes back they can't go back to burying murry and thjr....woodson needs to stick to what we're doing now.
