Knicks · Ima whine and moan about scheduling... (page 1)
grillco@ 1/14/2014 8:36 AM
While it's due to the the Knicks schedule this week, I hate the NBA schedule. I don't care what team it is, scheduling them for four games in five days is really lame. They stretch a five game first round playoff series to two weeks and there are often three to four day stretches off for teams (outside of the all-star break). I'm not saying it's easy to juggle all of the NBA teams, NHL teams, concerts, and other special events in all of the arenas, but I do think they could do a better job of creating a flow that would avoid these types of pile ups. In teh current system it seems they make sure everyone gets screwed with a part of their schedule like this instead of trying to avoid it for everyone.
My apologies for my bitchy little rant. I know that the Knicks problems aren't really the schedule, that they put themselves in this position of finally finding a rhythm and getting "hot" heading right into this tough stretch of five games in seven days. I just want to see their streak continue a bit longer. Realistically, it can...they can win all of these games, it'll just be difficult (especially the Thursday Friday one two of the Pacers and Clippers).
Go Knicks!
nyk4ever@ 1/14/2014 8:44 AM
while i know what you're saying, i think this is a blessing for the knicks. when you're hot, you don't want days off and let's be honest, it coulda been much worse than having to play philly, phoenix, charlotte as 3 of those 4 games..
fishmike@ 1/14/2014 8:46 AM
I hear you but I get it. Too me there are simply too many games and too many postseason teams. But if your going to have a 16 team tourney then you simply dont need 82 games to figure out the top half from the bottom. That being said I get it. Its TV revenue. When the playoffs start you have 8 matchups to grind out. It leaves the NBA a choice, do you stretch it out for 2 weeks? Or do you have games playing at the same time?
jrodmc@ 1/14/2014 9:50 AM
They're playing basketball. They travel on chartered jets. They live in 5 star hotels. They make millions of dollars.
Boo hoo.

Im thankful for the win yesterday--with out a bad bounce of the ball--the Suns wouldve won that game. The schedule is what they say it is--what every team plays it.

I think it's absurd. It will cost hundreds of dollars for decent seats, food, and drink and you have to watch crappy hoops? Last night both teams died in OT. The Knicks are going to look really bad by the 4th quarter tonight

this is assuming the NBA product is good to begin with? don't get me wrong, i love the nba, but the product that the NCAA puts out is lightyears better (and even that's going down hill)

I agree. I'm just essentially repeating that my biggest gripe with the NBA is they consider the every day consumer last

you playing? work for the team?
Melo when told they have another game last nite:
After game they got on a bus and at nite little traffic and flew to Charlotte. Then they got into thier 5 star hotel and slept. Get up, have breakfast, shoot around, go back to bed. Get up, warm up, get treatment, coaches meeting with players, warm up, play game, and do it again. Sometimes they get 4 days off between games.
This at least keeps JR out of trouble.
Nalod Just got back from NYC and thinking I'll pass on the game tonite. I think the game with Clippers will be on national
Travla@ 1/14/2014 11:29 AM
I don't like the scheduling either but these are times when coaches should put in others (Aldrich/Tyler) and more of Murray to give spot rest duty and save your starters from wearing down. Chandler and Beno may play tonight but they will both be rusty.

Sometimes, it has nothing to do with the league, but the teams own arena. If there is something going on besides basketball at the arena because the owner wants to make some extra dough and the date that they would normally play is the date that they need for the other gig, well guess what, you're gonna get a back to back.

That's an old wives tale. Sure, it might be exciting, but the quality? It's light years ahead as a better product? Hell no.
Nalod@ 1/14/2014 11:51 AM
NBA dilutes its product as does the NCAA. Your not going to watch Duke play Wagner on TV. Those skippy games happen all the time. NBA got skippy games too.
Players have a minutes restriction and Nalod has a game restriction. Im not going to watch more than two games a week. I comment on games I see, but not on highlights or boxscore.
I am far happier during losing streaks and don't get stupid euphoric during win streaks either. I'll watch the every knick playoff game! But I put myself on a 30 game limit this season.
NCAA has some good games and when they get to better match ups in league play, then conf tournaments, and then march madness its much better!!
But the talent is very diluted and crunch time players are more delusional. Few miricle endings in NCAA. Remember, your only seeing highlights, not lowlights!
knicks1248@ 1/14/2014 12:07 PM
I think every team in the league has a 4 games in 5 night wk..Thats why it pays to be deep..This game tonight wood have been no prob if priggs, artest, and Tyson were ready to rock out

I left that out because it's a given. I not really worried about them, I'm worried about me and my enjoyment of the game. I know this undermanned team needs rest between games, if only so Melo can get his legs back, but also so folks like Chandler get back into some sort of groove with a few more practices.
We all they're pampered and ridiculously overpaid relative to the importance of their jobs. It should go without saying when it comes to pro sports, so I didn't.
grillco@ 1/17/2014 10:28 PM
I was afraid of this and I apologize for jinxing the orange and blue.
