Knicks · JMO we are better with Bargs at C and Kmart at PF with this particular team (page 1)

BRIGGS @ 1/14/2014 10:26 PM
atleast for his team's make up--last year--different team. With two 7 footers in there--I expect a little less from both. This was a chemistry breaker in pre season and the start of the season.

agree. if someone like al jefferson is going to have his way in the paint anyway, what is the use of chandler?

franco12 @ 1/15/2014 1:17 AM
I can't believe they brought Chandler back already - he could barely stay on the court the last game.

And I agree - we're better with Bargs and Martin- and should probably have Amar'e and Chandler as the bigs off the bench.

That's not on Tyson. He barely played. He's also just working his way back. We gave up 108 points. I thought the game highlighted how much we need him healthy.

Thankfully, I didn't watch much of the game beyond the first half - but I thought our loss was less about Chandler and more about the lack of energy - which I think has to do with the overall age of our team.

We struggle with young, energetic teams.

I don't understand the JR benching, it's one extreme to the next. Had his leash be monitored all season long, you wouldn't have to wait until he hampered the team to take action. Now on a back to back where depth is a bonus, you bench him, like that help the team.

I didn't see the first half so im not sure what tyson did, but im sick of see our our center guarding a pg, it's unbelievable how lazy our pg's are, they just give up on the pick and switch every single chance they get

izybx @ 1/15/2014 9:10 AM
Hopefully we can move chandler for some picks. If were committed to resigning melo we don't need a defensive center that's offensively challenged, especially not one that costs 15 mil a year

When are you going to come to grips that we've played around .350 with Bargs as our center?

I think moreso we struggle with other teams back courts.. almost every team shreds us in the back court.. I mean barbosa came out of retirement chilling on a beach in brazil and gave the knicks the business.. last night it was kemba again.. we can't stop guards.. and Al Jefferson is a handful, no matter who you have in the game.. He has the best true post game in the league. It is nice watching a big with nice footwork and soft hands.. dude is an offensive machine with his back to the basket..

Been saying this all year - Bargs at center is better for us than Tyson at center.

Tyson D is severely overrated --- he doesn't get his hands up and doesn't contest shooters and is a net negative offensively and in terms of court spacing.

Release Godnani

It's bad too but at least he's been hurt and ill. I don't think anyone thinks that an injured or ill Tyson is a good option at C.

Exactly why I don't get the hate for Rubio in that multi page thread.

I like Hardaway a ton, but if he & Felton could net us a decent defensive PG, it'd be a no brainer for me. Ray Felton can hit jack w/ any consistency (has he ever?), so the argument that a younger, faster distribute first PG like Rubio sucks from the outside makes me think some aren't recognizing our needs at the PG spot.

so basically all of december jan and half of Feb when fluson chandler makes an appearance?

gunsnewing @ 1/15/2014 4:00 PM
He's small. I'd think he doesn't defend very well but maybe he uses his quickness to stay in front of guys

The entire team was playing awful -- I see Barg's being 5-0 at center the last 5 games without Chandler.

nixluva @ 1/15/2014 4:46 PM
I'm not anti Tyson. I actually like him, but it was evident that this team could defend when the GUARDS did a better job of keeping their man in front. This is more important than having the C always have to clean up for the Guards playing matador. IMO what helped was a healthy Felton and much more of Murry and Shump. Murry has a very good defensive presence and with Shump they really hold down the perimeter at a good level.

Bargs is more than capable of holding down the C spot with the exception of a highly skilled big like Al Jeff who can score on anyone. Aside from that Bargs has shutdown a lot of top bigs this year and he's getting better at help and positioning on D and playing the PnR D. He's not perfect but he's MUCH better than day one on Defense. The win streak was a good example of that. People need to get over the bias they have against Bargs. He's not a high motor guy, which I know can be infuriating, but he's better than some give him credit for.
