I was wondering because we think of Tyson being integral to our success. But is he essential like a Chris Bosh on the Heat or more of a Rudy Gay on the Grizzlies type of player (luxury)?

How is Chris Bosh a necessity?
A walking virus
And a disturbance
Both. If we want a team that's at the .400 level, we're perfectly capable of doing that with Bargnani at C. If we want to win the mid 50s, Tyson will have to either return to all-star level or be replaced by someone at that level.

Bosh has quietly been their 2nd best player for a while now, which guys like Doug Collins has pointed out. He is, after all, the only semblance of a post player and the only talent that they have at 7ft. Every other contender has at least one, and in most cases two, talented big men, and the Heat are no exception. Don't buy the hype that Wade and LeBron do everything themselves.

That's what I was thinking. We've had such a dearth of talent that I think that I may have hyped Chandler into something that he is not. He's capable of being a big/final piece on a winning team (e.g. Dallas) but I'm not sure that he can be the reason for the winning (e.g. Charlotte, Chicago, New Orleans)
At this point, none of the above. he's a washed up has-been that can't cut the mustard for you, and maybe he could never cut the mustard because Hibbert is forever > Tyson and Tyson can't improve anymore, it's too late for him to do anything in the league.
Trade works, just don't know why anyone would give us Robin Lopez for this sad sack of clown tears that is Tyson Chandler.
You see Robin's numbers this year? Guy is 11/8 with 1.5 swats
Chandler, at this point of his career, is just an annoyance. He's not a defensive stopper, rebounds occasionally, and is an inefficient scorer. His talents are better served on another team. What do you think we can get for him?
Yeah he's similar to a luxury car that's always at the mechanic and emptying my pocket, so I can't spend it elsewhere.

inefficient? Say what? Even his biggest critics don't say that

I could understand Tyson Chandler being an ineffective scorer but he's definitely not inefficient.

For the production that is given by Chandler for the amount of time he lags yes he is inefficient.

He's not inefficient. He's not very good as a scorer but he does convert his shots at a high rate.
He's a energy guy that relies on his athletic ability. He's past his prime with no fundamental skills. I mention dalembert and guys trash him but that dude is playing allot like dalembert these days. I would prefer we had him instead

I guess it depends on what you mean by inefficient. Usually it refers to FG% or better stats like TS%.

Agree. Also the guy is not a leader. Wish someone would ask him why the team has played so poorly since he returned.
Probably because it's a bad team

Why he is an immortal NBA champion and former DPOY and sure fire ball of famer. Right there with Russell
Tyson currently is a poor fit with our starting lineup and lacks the talent to play with him with a lack of shot blockers, a PF that compliments him, a true SF, like a Wilson Chandler that could defend 3 positions, that could help with the above, and NO good defenders outside of Iman Shumpert with NONE "lock down defenders", in addition to a COACH that just doesn't get it
and
like Melo, at the time of the trade, was NOT NEEDED (with Wilson Chandler, Gallo, Fields, and CAP ROOM/PICKS) but WANTED for his BIG NAME because many thought we were going to get Lebron of which Melo should even NEVER be compared to
