Similar MO as Tyreke. I wouldn't mind taking a shot at Ramon Sessions if the price is unreasonable. He has flaws too, but at least we know he can run a team.

Ditto. Maybe we could do Felton and Bargnani for Sessions and Ben Gordon. Sessions is a free agent at season's end, so we could always sign him then if a trade isn't an option.

I agree with part of that but Evans has shown, at times, that he can play. He can, if he tries, even play some defense and set up plays. He's an upgrade over Felton/Udrih/Prigioni, even if he's currently an iffy starting PG. I'm not sure Evans can turn his career around like, say, Monte Ellis or Jamal Crawford, but if he's interested in getting better--he did for a while but he hasn't recently--he might be worth some risk. The downside is his contract, though a trade for Chandler frees up a few million.

Same here. It's been clear that he could play from as early as his Bucks days. There was even a time that I thought he could be doing what Rondo has been doing.
Pierre Jackson is the PG I'd like to see us pursue off that team. He'd be a manageable/negligible salary and a guy that could help immediately and a future rebuilding club. Grab this guy and immediately sign him to a 2-yr guaranteed deal. I'd even go 3 yrs if he was open to it. Bridge the gap right through to his early Bird rights.. This guy's at least a great backup PG in the NBA and would be well worth that kind of money.
Evans' salary is horrible btw -- north of 10k per season over the next several seasons. On the books 2 yrs beyond Chandler...Not saying he's not a good young player; he is and I think he could help us. I'd be extremely nervous about adding more salary to this mess though... Move leaves a big gapping hole in the middle too -- would the plan be to have Aldrich & Tyler fill in there? I could be down with that -- this coach isn't though. At least Chandler is a proven double-digit rebounder -- we lose him and don't commit to Aldrich/Tyler, we almost guarantee losing the battle of the boards every night (not to mention run Amar'e/Martin right into the ground). Also, if we added Evans by subtracting Chandler, is that enough to keep Melo here? What's the follow-up plan after this move? Give Melo the moon and keep everything else intact? Is that wise at this point? Trade Melo & break the rest down, leaving Tyreke Evans as the sole guy to build around?

Right number 2
Hes better than what we have by a good margin--he would become talent level # 2 immediately. I agree with what some have said here--but just like Rudy Gay moving to Sacremento--Tyreke playing with Carmelo can have a solid effect. Number 1 hes 6-6 225 and can guard. While hes not a great shot--his 3 ball improved up until last year--up to a respectable 33%. Tyreke would give us a guy who can penetrate/dish and rebound. He would be better here--IF given a chance to play in a more open offense--which we do tend to play. Other downsides are his health--he seems to be hurt a lot but hes also young(24). Hed have to play to his 11mm $ contract and he has all the ability in the world--we saw him kill us for 24-7 this year. He just turned 24 and hes a 20-7-5 potential player. Beggars cant be choosers--we wont use the draft we can let every marble sit for one free agent. Get rid of JR Felton and Pablo and Tyreke takes up their slot. Hes better than all 3.
I think we can find a nice secondary PG in this draft coming up either by buying a pick in late 1 or early 2--there will be opportunity. There are a lot of good choices--this will be the year of the PG. If we drafted a PG who can really shoot the 3 ball like Shabazz Napier--you pair him up with Tyreke and play 2 pg's--we might find some excellent synergy and change this team radically. Im open right now to change and I want out of Tyson Chandler.
^^ I can see what you're saying. Maybe it wouldn't be a bad idea...Tell ya what, I'd take it a step further -- expand the deal and try to get both Evans and Jackson. Get greedy. Include Murry, a future 2nd rounder and cash to entice (play Murry steady mins now in order to showcase)...Keep Aldrich out of the deal and finally get him some steady mins. in the middle, along with Tyler. Aldrich hasn't been given a chance here -- I feel this guy could replicate a lot of what Chandler does, esp. the rebounding. He'd make for a much better shot-blocker too. If Woody wasn't open to this -- show the guy the door. Dude should've been canned already. He's been awful..
I can see some positives with this. Evans/Jackson together could be an exciting/productive backcourt duo -- a lot of our troubles stem from our absolutely abysmal guard play at both positions. Evans/Jackson could help turn that around in a big way. Huge infusion of talent for our backcourt...Evans is a good 7 years younger than Chandler -- adding the 2 extra years of salary to the books may not be as big a deal as I thought. Evans is young enough and talented enough where that may not be that big an issue. Also, we bring in Evans/Jackson, integrate Aldrich/Tyler in the middle to the point where these guys are producing and make us forget all about Tyson Chandler, the team does a 180 & starts playing much better, etc.. suddenly this looks like a much better situation for Melo to return to. If the plan is to keep Melo and stay the course, this looks like a move to make.
Only thing I disagree with is the probability of buying a late 1st/early 2nd round pick. I know we pulled it off in 2009 with the Lakers for Toney Douglas (I think we went the full $3mm & a 2011 2nd rounder that they later turned into Andrew Goudelock) but I see picks like that going for much more of a premium now. Maybe I'm wrong, I dunno. I feel ya on getting another young PG though -- we might have a better chance of getting everything we're looking for in the one deal with the Pelicans.

Ok briggs.....u finally came up with something I agree with....just when everybody else disagree....it's usually the other way around.
Three is exactly what we need....somebody who's hungry...needs a platform to help improve his stock, is in his prime. .... And can get to the rack. He's long enough to guard 3 positions with enough lateral quickness needed for Woodson switching.
The problem is when we added bargs....can't have bargs and Woodson on the same team....but that's for another thread.
Assuming tyrekes contract is exceptable...or better than chandler....not sure how anybody would be against that move.....it's risky losing a vet like tyson that actually plays the roll player position very well....so well he fooled everybody...including me that he's a franchise big.

Tyreke would definitely be a legit #2 scorer next to Melo. Someone with all world ball handling ability and can finish and feed the open man. That would be awesome.
Getting sessions would be nice too. Ben Gordons contact would be nice too. I don't think the bobcats have use for Bargs though.
I personally would love the idea of getting tyreke evans. Bottom line though the kicks need to do something immediately.
Tyreke has three more years on his deal- so the idea of trading JR Felton and Pablo has some appeal- you get rid of a knucklehead- but you add quite a bit of cap - get rid of your best PG (Prig) for someone who might very well be an upgrade talent wise, but who has trouble staying healthy.
How about Amare for Gordon, Tyreke and 2 first rounders? Heck, maybe ask for three.
Then we go all in with Melo- and if he leaves- we've at least got two guys in the back court and we have not completely killed the cap.
I'd take a chance on tyreke for sure. I know it was a few years ago but do people forget he was a triple double waiting to happen every night? Can shoot pass rebound, if we can get this guy we should. Everyone is looking for a savior,we just need to start adding good players.

I would go after OJ Mayo but he got by with athleticism before he got to the NBA and now he gets beat by athleticism

If Melo leaves I think having a PG who can get guys the ball like him, would help attract others and help boost existing guys' games.

That's if this organization is under the impression they are building around Melo. A true rebuild would avoid this.
If we make this kind of move- how exactly does it turn out any differently than our Bargs deal?
