If Melo demands a trade, could we move him to the Bulls for Boozer and the draft rights to Mirotic? I feel like that would be a pretty modest demand of the Bulls despite Mirotic looking like he could be the next Toni Kukoc.
I'd do it but we need to be able to get a pick or two from them. They haven't traded any of their own first rounders and they a highly protected pick from Sacramento and a protected pick from Charlotte that loses protection in 2016. We should be able to get the Sacramento pick (which will probably never be a 1st with all its protections) and another one, preferably Charlotte's but that might be unrealistic.

You do realize that we'd never get equal value in a Melo deal, right? You can't replace his individual production and, more importantly, we have no leverage. I'd be thankful just to get a known quantity like Mirotic because I think we'd get much less now that it is clear that Griffin will not be traded.

I only intended the proposal to be about the principles but at the same time, I wasn't too sure if we could demand picks back. Remember that the Bulls WILL have the cap space to sign him outright this offseason AND keep Mirotic. The only incentive they have to make a deal for Melo at the moment, is that they can preserve their amnesty, to use it on Joakim Noah or Derrick Rose, if one of the two continue to break down (which is likely). Maybe that fact could be our counter-leverage.

But you're right, we have very little leverage in any potential Melo deal. I wouldn't expect to receive two young prospects, a 1st, and the right to swap firsts in any potential trade. I think Mirotic, Sacramento's first (which has a ton of protection; it's top 10 protected through 2017 at which point they would trade their 2nd round pick), and another first (probably Chicago's but Charlotte's in my fantasies) isn't that much.

Hmm, everyone was all over him last year as a future superstar but looking at his numbers this year... his raw numbers aren't very good and his advanced stats are good not great. It certainly wouldn't hurt to ask and if we had to throw in Shumpert or Hardaway to get it done I would do it.

I'd give up Shumpert for him but I'd be hesitant to give up Hardaway who I think could be an above average player in the league. Any chance we could dump Smith's contract on them too, with Melo?
I would dump Chandler first while he still has some value. They need to try to build something respectable and pray Melo stays. I really can't see another player being stupid enough to sign up for this. The roster is one of the worst in the league. They have no starting PG. Overall, the backcourt is one of the worst I've seen in a long time.
