Knicks · Kay heard from source that players blame Melo (page 2)

gunsnewing @ 1/22/2014 7:49 PM
Kay was actually defending Melo saying his teammates aren't good enough but what does he know
nyk4ever @ 1/22/2014 7:53 PM
this is stupid. when guys like felton, jr, shumpert decide to start playing and the team still sucks you can blame melo. melo is the least of this teams problems.
playa2 @ 1/22/2014 9:59 PM
Melo is a great scorer , but he has a low BB IQ.

He couldn't see from the bench how well the ball was moving with him on the bench.

BRIGGS @ 1/22/2014 10:23 PM
This is a toxic situation from owner down to ballboy.

Here is the only equation

James Dolan spends the money on a great GM like Presti and than goes primarily hands off. I have zero confidence we will make any material move---James Dolan is not going to do it in season. When a man like that thinks he is right --no one will change his mind.

You mean why didn't Melo get credit for the 54 wins? Outside of this fanbase which has quite a few people that hate him for one reason or another, the narrative seems to be that Melo lead us to the 54 wins. Now, if you want to talk about the playoffs, Tyson and Shump questioned the stagnating offense and I believe Tyson even said something to the effect of guys trying to do it by themselves too often.

Tyson demonstrated his "leadership" with that comment. I had a good laugh at that. Getting obliterated by Hibbert and getting 6 reb in 30+ min but running his mouth. Unreal. How about actually contributing.

I did find the ball movement comments interesting. Once shots stopped falling for his teammates in the playoffs. They gave him the ball and ran for the hills then blamed him. Not the kind of caliber players u can win with.

that is not true.. guys like prigs, felton, THJ , chandler all play hard.. they are limited, but they play hard... the knicks were up tonight. melo comes in, they lose the lead.. can't blame everything on the other players, that is deflecting from the real problems..

VDesai @ 1/23/2014 12:07 AM
Does it really matter? IF you're on this squad and not on a rookie contract, than you've gotta be moved. Its over.

I agree. Melo plays hard and most of the rest of the team hardly scores. Last night, Melo had 7 assists along with his 28 points (10 for 23 (43%) and 6 for 8 from 3 pt (75%) JR Smith shot 5 for 16 (31%) and only 1 for 4 (25%) from the free throw line. I wonder who should get the blame for this loss.
Knicksfan @ 1/23/2014 12:55 AM
Hahahaha Melo.is the least of our problems but whatever. If the Knicks were as good on basketball as they are on talking garbage and creating turmoil, we would be the first team to win a championship in January.

I had to work and missed the game but you're saying Tyson didn't work hard? He had 10, 14, and 3 blocks. It looks like he's gradually get back to normal.
alwaysaknick @ 1/23/2014 5:44 AM
Silly question here, how did Denver handle Melo situation? I mean, how to get players gel with Melo?
Bonn1997 @ 1/23/2014 6:19 AM
The one year things worked out very well was when they put a top 6 MVP candidate with him.
We need to get one or two MVP candidates to play with Melo.

He worked hard at times but he got beat a lot and at time it was from lack of hustle (i.e. his man leaked out and had a wide open dunk on a break away play where Tyson loped down after him). The team looked better and played better with BArgs at the 5 in my opinion and the Bargs/Tyler combo looked good in brief minutes. He also switched onto Turner and got beat a lot. He looked inspired for a brief period in the fourth.

and basically rest are vet min players?

Listen, we won 54 games last season because of the veteran leadership we had last year
Leadership created confidence, direction, TEAM play, and continuity/chemistry
We loss in the play offs because we simply didn't have enough talent on the floor, with a hell lot of ISO
Was Woodson spoiled with this "veteran leadership"?

This year, we don't have the the leadership and it is shows
I wouldn't say we are far apart from talent from last year although Felton, JR, and even Pablo have been far from their play of last season
Copeland is also far from AB, not better, just different. Copeland shoots at a highly effective % and could make wide open 3pt shots with consistency, I think he is a bit smarter.

I have never thought Woodson was a good coach and it is showing now
He isn't the only part of the problem but SOMEONE needs to be the scapegoat at this point, and the players don't seem to like his philosophies
When Iman tried to double Melo's man yesterday and left his own man for no reason, he got bitched out
When Melo decides not to go over HALF A SCREEN and Iman stays with his man, he got subbed out and Darrel Walker went OFF on him (So how is this NOT Woodson's "philosophy"

RonRon @ 1/23/2014 7:37 AM
Among the VETs Only Kidd played games last season

but
in the locker room and off the court,
Wallace, Thomas, and even Camby get credit for their veteran leadership while they barely even played
Especially with the development of Copeland that showed as the season progressed
I agree they had a big part of our success last season but in the playoffs we went HEAVY on ISO and had a lack of a philosophy/adjustments that simply was apparent to NOT work against The Pacers or any contending team in the league

Nalod @ 1/23/2014 8:29 AM
Melo got lots of accolades last year.

They will get players who will like Melo, support Melo, and feed Melo.

They will continue to empower and enable Melo.

He is bigger than life. Wins and losses are annoying details!

Exactly, it comical. Although I don't agree with most of what Melo does, but he isn't the root of the problem. Our PG is the problem. Felton has been horrible, and I can't believe I wanted him back. He is now Portland bad.
