Lmao that sounds nothing like Woodson, it's one of the players calling for it.

Switching is his philosophy though, this just isn't really prove of anything.

Who needs proof? This is common knowledge.

yeah whatever happens on the court is drawn up by the coach. Switching every play is such a joke tans are running picks just to get the mismatch in the post. That drives me insane. Then there's the couple plays every game where they get so lost that nobody is guarding the ball they get a wide open 3 or a layup.

Knicks come out of time outs so bad that they might as well not even call time outs.

They start the game with 3 guards carmelo and Tyson and wonder why they can't rebound or defend.

Suck ass coach

Here is, I think, the problem with switching.

Clearly- every team switches at some point - I think Woodson would like players to switch in certain instances - but our knuckleheads don't know when to switch and when to stay- and they end up switching all the time, which I don't believe Woodson wants.

And that is what causes a number of problems.

The other problem I have with Woodson's philosophy of switching is it, in my opinion, encourages a lax approach to defense.

Guys just don't care as much, because, well, that person I am defending really belongs to someone else.

We should try some zone - I have not noticed us playing that at all this year.

EnySpree @ 1/26/2014 1:47 PM
Saying the players switch too much still goes back to Woodson because nothing is being done to fix it. It's just the same shit all year.
IronWillGiroud @ 1/26/2014 9:00 PM
what would you do instead of switching?

Is this a serious question?

yea, sometimes it's good to think about things you might think are obvious

Switching bigs and smalls is one of the serious problems. Switching 1's and 2's isn't a major issue. The real problem with this defense is no one attacks the ball and no one comes from the weak side. That and we are just flat out slow making it hard to recover. We had some good strategy against Charlotte but Jefferson was just demolishing us, even against doubles.

Switching is apart of basketball. What the the knicks do is an extreme version. No adjustments are being made. To me I think it's simple philosophy. You can't switch everything. The guys guarding the pick have to communicate. You can hear them yelling switch, but there is no thought to actually defending the play. Against brooklyn priggy mindlessly runs away from deron after a pick where he should have went through. You couldn't even save him cuz he darted away too fast. The guy he switched to was already being guarded and bargs couldn't pick up deron cuffs blatche would have had a dunk. This let deron get the 3. That's just mindless, but it happens every single game more than once. You can fault the players but when it happens this often you have to blame the coach for not making adjustments. That's his job. This is supposed to be why we brought him here to be the defensive coordinator. That is bullshit.

franco12 @ 1/27/2014 9:06 AM
you have to switch - sometimes.

We don't fight over/through screens hard enough.

I miss Toney Douglas- he was a bull dog and got banged up fighting through screens.

Yeah but he went through cuz that's what the coach wanted! Dantoni didn't want guys switching.
