Use that 1st to get lowry. By trading Chandler it alleviates the need for Toronto to take on Felton.

That would be amazing

That would be a dream. Felton as a starter = no but Lowry as your starter and Felton as your backup would be great. I know he had problems with that in Denver but I doubt he would make wave in Ny considering he would probably not get a starting gig on the open market anyway.

Also, how could Dolan say no to acquiring the healthy Lopez.

I mean, based on the win shares, replacing Felton with Lowry should give you about 13 more wins a season. I know that's just one estimate but it sounds reasonable.

I like Tyson but look at his age and immune system. You'd have to give him up to get Lowry.

How many times has this ever been said about a player.

gunsnewing @ 1/28/2014 9:52 AM
Then the FA focus would shift to C and 2way SF. You don't have to shell out too much money to fi those positions with quality

I like it

Yeah, he could have a serious illness but it sucks for the fans.

Lowry is the better player regardless although I have concern about players putting up numbers in a contract year. Its not really crazy numbers across the board but he is shooting the ball better.

Yeah, it's a gamble but I think it's a reasonable one. It's not like $100 mil on Amare. He'll probably get something like 4 yrs, $40 mil.
gunsnewing @ 1/28/2014 10:01 AM
Here you go

3way between Portland, Toronto & NY
TYSON to Portland for Lopez & 2015 1st round protected
Then we send , Shumpert & 2015 pick to Toronto for Lowry(we keep our 2015 lottery pick)
Then you resign Melo and sign a quality Center and 2way SF if you plan on leaving Melo at the 4
C
Melo
SF
Hardaway
Lowry
6th: JR
Felton
Murray
Tyler

The Bottom line is the rapts want draft picks, and no contender really needs a pg that bad to give up picks to get him, in fact if you look at the top 16 teams in the league, they are all solidify at the position. Bottom teams are not giving up draft picks to get a guy who more than like will leave for a contender.

The knicks are really one of the prime teams that need him, but even dolan is smart enough to hold on, especially since they squeeze us on the novak trade for draft picks..

the huge hug him and ujiri had after the game last night indicates otherwise. i'm sure ujiri is looking at all deals and everyone can be had for the right price. but i don't think he's gonna be moved. your owner f'd up again.

I agree. What they were willing to accept earlier was a good deal for us.

I will be shocked if they sign Lowery long term or he decides to stay there because of their reputation with other NBA STARS.

They have a chance to win the fan base without dolling out max money and will continue to do so.

Toronto has always been about the dollar , not continually winning.

our payroll is $70 mil and we have a new CEO. i don't know what you are talking about when we have given out huge deals to so many players in the colangelo era. we even offered bosh the max to stay. your post is a blatant lie. go look at the contracts given out since 2006.

Toronto has no choice because they know they can't resign him. The plan would be if he works out we can give him some kind of balloon deal if Melo really likes him. and if not let him walk

The Toronto Raptors remain interested in trading Kyle Lowry despite his strong play and the team's recent surge.

Lowry will be a free agent this offseason and the Raptors prefer a return on an asset they are unlikely to re-sign.

The Raptors have yet to find a team willing to meet their asking price for Lowry.

Lowry is a strong candidate for the All-Star Game.

The goal should be to use Tyson Chandler to acquire assets and then use those assets to acquire both Omer Asik and Kyle Lowry. I think Portland could help us get that done.

gunsnewing @ 1/28/2014 11:07 AM
Omir would be good and his contract isn't crazy. get it done

And I have to think he'd come cheap. He's out of shape, having sat for so long, which will make it that much more difficult for him to make an impact this season. Next season, he'll be making $15 million, which will kill the Rockets, so I think there is real leverage to be had here in trade discussions. When healthy and in shape though, he is every bit as good as Tyson aside from being a piss poor free throw shooter. I'd take that though, given his health and youth.

fitzfarm @ 1/28/2014 11:27 AM
I'd give them ray and shump no pick, dudes in the last year in his contract . He's not a max player .. He is very good .. I'd leave that on the table for Toronto and see if they take it esp if they know he's leaving.
Also a lowery, thjr,jr,melo, stat would be real fun to watch..

That would be nice. Hopefully he has a 15-20 rebound game soon.

Question: If Melo leaves, will that leave the Knicks cap flexible this offseason?

Wouldn't mind going after Lance (BK native), with the plan of dealing Shump/JR for something, and seeing Lowry, Stephenson, Asik as 3/5 starters. Plus Asik's contract comes off the books after next year, along w/ STAT's, so there still could be some room to maneuver.

Toronto had no Leverage. So I think we need to stick to the lowest possible deal and that would be Shump and Felton and a future first. If that can't happen then to hell with them

+1. Hell "NO" to giving up THjr for KL. Let's move along...we can pick him up via direct signing soon enough.

Why take on an albatross contract in Felton and an inferior player to their heir apparent at the 2 spot then? They'd be better off letting Lowry walk.

djsunyc @ 1/28/2014 11:34 AM
ah yes, tim haradway junior...the new landry fields. or the old iman shumpert? maybe the new frank williams?
djsunyc @ 1/28/2014 11:36 AM
raptors have no issues if lowry walks. the knicks deal was to take on future salary (felton) for a first. no difference in keeping that cap space and taking on a contract for a future pick. either way, lowry's salary slot will yield a future pick if we trade him or let him walk.
