Knicks · The Toronto Raptors remain interested in trading Kyle Lowry. Let's get the deal done. How can we do it? give up who? (page 3)

djsunyc @ 1/28/2014 11:36 AM
raptors have no issues if lowry walks. the knicks deal was to take on future salary (felton) for a first. no difference in keeping that cap space and taking on a contract for a future pick. either way, lowry's salary slot will yield a future pick if we trade him or let him walk.

Toronto had no Leverage. So I think we need to stick to the lowest possible deal and that would be Shump and Felton and a future first. If that can't happen then to hell with them

+1. Hell "NO" to giving up THjr for KL. Let's move along...we can pick him up via direct signing soon enough.

How?

No way, TH Jr is playing far better than Shumpert ever did. TH Jr scores a lot of points at an efficient rate.

I am soooo tired of giving up draft choices for marginal, rental players. Felton, Shump and a second rounder(to be named later). It's bad enough that i'm giving up on Shump. Maybe Beno instead.

Comparing THJ with Fields??? really??? One guy has a great outside shot, the other can't hit the side of a barn. One guy is athletic, the other not so much. BTW why do u even post here anymore? You are a raptors fan. Stick to the raptors site.

I'd like to say thjr is a mix of his dad and rolando Blackman with more athletic ability, thjr can beat you with his three or step in for the midrange,or drive to the hoop also great in transition. Sky is the limit for this kid... Absolutely has potential to be a lot better then Lowry . Thjr will be a star in time. You don't trade a rookie with that potential for a guy who is 28 and has averaged 11 and 5 for his career. Yes lowry is beasting it, In a contract year. Toronto prob knows Lowry is gone in the offseason. I'd do a Felton, shump even though I don't want to trade shump. So I think I would offer Felton, and jr (works on espn trade machine) first. Then if that doesn't work I replace jr with shump. Lowry looks nice next to thjr,shump,melo,chandler/stat. That team is going to go deep into the playoffs
fitzfarm @ 1/28/2014 12:36 PM
Plus Toronto at least gets something for nothing if he leaves via free agent in the off season. You can't keep players in Toronto, also ray,jr,Damar,Amir Johnson,Val is a ok team ...not much of a downgrade. Also Toronto has a love affair for Lin. ray has a movable contract. I don't care what people say about jr he's super talented..Also what kinda trouble will he get into in Toronto lol

How?

As a FA when Toronto let's him walk, which seems inevitable. If he gets traded, he'd have to re-up with the signing team. I am not totally sold on KL. If it's only Ray and Iman, then I would go for it. But no way in hell I add in our future star THjr.

If KL falls into our laps via FA, all the better.

I 100 % agree. Thjr= future star. No way do you trade him for 28 year old kl... He'd be nice via fa or Felton. Hopefully not shump

They have a chance to win the fan base without dolling out max money and will continue to do so.

Toronto has always been about the dollar , not continually winning.

our payroll is $70 mil and we have a new CEO. i don't know what you are talking about when we have given out huge deals to so many players in the colangelo era. we even offered bosh the max to stay. your post is a blatant lie. go look at the contracts given out since 2006.

Wait for the deadline and off season and get back with me. DJ,Who have the RAPTORS signed who IN THE PAST who has played big time NBA BALL ?

You think we're getting him for the league min? We don't have cap space

That's no way to write about the guy who gave everyone the Alba thread.

I think it says something that no other team is willing to meet the Raptors asking price.Kyle is having career year, but it's during a contract year and he's mad injury prone. Lowry almost fits the definition of a fluke rule player and he'll probably go back to being a middle of the road player next season. I'm against giving up a young player and a pick for him.

If the raptors wont take that then forget it.

They'd be better off letting him walk. You're asking them to pay $18 mil for a distant first round pick and Shumpert - a guy who looks like a 2nd round pick.

Give up more than that when the Raptors have absolutely zero leverage? No thanks. This is not a player the raps have under contract for 4 years? How are they better off letting him walk for nothing than they are getting a 1st round pick, a back-up pg and a SG with decent potential...

Lowry is an above average PG but it's not like we're talking about an elite PG.

Clean @ 1/28/2014 1:44 PM
Are we seriously talking about giving up Tim or Shump plus a 1st for a player who can leave in 2 to 3 months? We Knick fans are like dogs getting distracted by the next shiny thing. In this case is it the same shiny thing we have seen before. My stance has not changed one bit. I am done giving up unprotected picks for free. Do I think Lowry is worth a protected 1st yes. Do I think he is worth a protected 1st when he can leave in 2 to 3 months? Hell no!

Knicks fans and front office always thinks that the future don't matter because we have to try and win now. Well, at some point the future becomes the present. Right now was the future back during the melo trade and look how awesome that turned out to be. We are without a draft pick that was close to be top 3 at multiple points during the season. Not to mention this will be the best draft since Lebrons draft. Until we stop putting off the future like it is some fantasy you read in a fairy tale we will forever be the laughing stock of the league.

The way some talk about Lowry it's like we're trying to trade for a HOF PG worth 4 first round picks. Crazy...

The good thing is dolan and mills agreed to not to include draft picks, but giving up shump and felton is still a lot for lowery who IMO is worth felton and a 2nd rounder

that wasn't the point of your post. you said the team was cheap - they are not cheap. inability to attract stars is correct but they will spend money - it's not from a lack of trying to get stars. and...the best FA available in 2009 was hedo and we signed him. but then again, how many other franchises have signed big time NBA ballers?

landry fields in his rookie season was 10X the player thj is now. my point is that he's just the flavor of the month and fanbases always overrate their own young players. no player should be deemed "untouchable". and you think melo is gonna hang around and wait for a guy like thj to develop into a player melo needs now to win?

ask melo today - who do you want, a rookie and watch him develop for 3 years or a pg that plays both ends of the court in his prime right now? you want players in their prime right now to coincide with melo's prime.

ray is garbage.
jr smith is a bonafide cancer and a terrible player for a young team.

you remove the coach on the floor and the team falls apart. you remove lowry and it hurts the development of our younger players. lowry is a legit starting pg that contending teams want. only issue is that he is now playing well above what teams are offering.
