I like them both, especially because THJ is a SG and Shump is a SF (IMO). I like the ideal of THJ, Shump, and Melo on the court together. I like Chandler as the 5. And we need another miracle walk-on at the 1
What happened to that kid Bobby Brown we were talking to over the summer?
never mind, here you go
January 10, 2014 Updates
Timing is everything, as they say, and the timing is tough for Bobby Brown at the moment. Despite all the NBA opportunity that has arisen from the endless rash of point guard injuries, and despite the fact that the 29-year-old is on the short list of worthy talents to fill one of the many voids, he can't get out of his contract with Dongguan in China until their season ends on Feb. 16. Brown hasn't played in the NBA since 2010, but anyone who pays attention to the famed Drew League in Los Angeles during the summer months knows that he's an NBA talent. In China, he's nothing short of a star, as he's averaging 31.9 points and 5.8 assists per game.

Wow thanks for the update on Brown. I think he would be playoff eligible if he was signed then. Hopefully Mills follows up and signs him. I think he fixes a lot.
I like Shump but I think the I would make a call to Utah to see if they would do a Hayward/Shumpert swap with money consideration. Gordon is not expected to resign with UTah. I would have to get an agreement about an ext with Gordon 1st though. He is having a down shooting year so it just might work.

If we deal Shump for anyone I hope its for a real floor general who still has at least 2-3 good years left. I get the feeling thats what we will get from Melo if he stays considering his injuries over the last couple of seasons and his league leading minutes.
Paul Pierce still could play into his 30s but he had KG/Allen/Rondo to pick up the slack. If Melo takes the max getting that kind of help will be difficult.

Thats my only beef with melo. lebron wade and bosh could have gotten more elsewhere but they decided to work togteher to win and have succeeded. Still think melo should ahve waited for FA to sign with us and we could have used the other pieces to get Paul or Rondo. If melo wants to win here then he has to sacrifice some money

There was that whole collective bargaining agreement deal. I don't fault Melo for forcing a trade and getting paid. I also wouldn't fault him if he were to get the max in NY. If Melo does take the max and getting paid is his first priority then he shouldn't complain if there isnt enough talent to challenge the Indys, the Heat, Thunder, and the up and coming teams of this league.

Just to clarify though on how much the three amigos got. They went to a state where there is no state income tax. I only figured out comparisons for LBJ and Melo but the actual difference annually is 400,000. That is before NYC tax that guys have to pay so my guess is LBJ and Melo come out even or LBJ comes out ahead. The different tax situations for clubs really isn't fair and is a way to circumvent the cap. While those three look like they did the right thing in taking less, they actually make the same or more because of where they play.
Shump is just streaky in every aspect. One game he's lights out shooting, the next its brick after brick. Same goes for his defense. One game he does a respectable job against MVP candidate Paul George, but Rodney Stuckey smokes him over and over. And he loves to settle for jumpers despite his improvement in getting to the basket. He never attacks. I'd love to see what a real coach could do with him if it's not too late
